    Your recommendation has convinced me and so I ordered the very same DIY box (really exactly the same including JK inverter BMS, flexible busbars, etc, but without the "Yixiang" name on it) from another dealer at Alibaba. It was about 70 € cheaper than that with the Yixiang brand. Probably Yixiang is not the manufacturer but only one of many dealers.
    When I placed my order I was told that deilivery time to Germany should be 6 to 8 weeks, but I got it already after 3 weeks from a store in Poland. And since Poland is member of the EU I hat no problems with coustoms, duty and tax.
    My cells (bought from a dealer in Germany) should arrive next week.

    @7:30 that was a major design screwup on the PCB design, they should have set a keep out area around the screws to prevent it shorting the batteries out if the solder mask is penetrated, the solder mask isn't really meant as an insulation and should never be relied upon.

    • @-PORK-CHOP-

    Hi Andy! The case quality is okay, I ordered 4 pcs, but on one case from this seller I burned out 2 BMS due to there garbage PCB s. The design is very poor. You should remove some fixings screws, they recommend some of them after others so finally remain only 3/pcb. On one BMS gone the temperature sensors indications and in the other I replaced together with new PCB s and wires once I plugged in the wires from PCB to BMS, sets 1 to 4 some spark and fumes come out and BMS cells voltage and temperature indications gone. I mention that I checked the correct voltage on the wires plugs from cell 1 to 16 and was fine. So my recommendation is avoid this cases until this issue is solved by the factory not by us doing some compromise.

    Excellent box! I recently got two of them. They have a couple of quality issues tho, so be aware of:
    - Both my boxes had displays mounted upside-down. Fix is relatively easy, but I had to remove the 16 screws and the front panel again :(

    How do you like the casters andy..FYI their new box has holes!! Yes, finally, they put ventilation holes in the outside of the case. Also, my cells were very new. In fact, they were made just 3 months before me getting them. I had one viewer suggest a great idea. The rollers are fine, I just don't like their position under the floor. The front ones are too far away from the corners and will bend the floor sheet if 2, 3 boxes are stacked on top. The back rollers are just under the battery frame and have much mor support and rigidness in that position. I have this on my list of improvements for Yixiang.

    The jumper (Madi’s) between cells 8 & 9 has only half the current capacity of the flexible buss bars. With light charge and discharge that won’t be a problem but with repeated cycles with high loads you might start to notice an imbalance. I’d either use two jumpers or extend the slot on a flexible buss bar to keep things uniform.

    • @SonPowerSolar-jc1ov
      @SonPowerSolar-jc1ov 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I was thinking the same. I would of used thicker and shorter wire to get the resistance lower. I bet using a milli-ohm meter it will show a higher resistance there at 8 - 9. On one of Ray Builds Cool Stuff video's it is demonstrated what difference it makes.

      @@OffGridGarageAustralia Moin Andy. I received my 2nd this week. And it remains an excellent diy set. But you notice that they take shortcuts. With the first one the handles and clips were mounted on the side. And the BMS connected to the fuse. The 2nd one came with the handles and clips in a bag. In both deliveries all the screws were through the cabinet because the bag was broken. So check very carefully whether a washer has ended up somewhere between the BMS. There is also no longer a fast disconnect on the + thin cable of the BMS. And no more DRY connector with it. I was unlucky this time because the Run LED was bent during installation. I remove the PCB and straighten LED. They did solve the problem with the PCB screws with insulation disks. Still a great kit. If I had enough PV power I would buy another one. You have to use a Victron Type A cable and connect the BMS side to the JK CAN port. The other side of the Type A cable goes into the CAN-BMS port of the cerbo.
      In the JK BMS you have to select the Victron protocol (4) in the settings.
      In the Cerbo, go to Settings - Services BMS-Can Port and change the profile to 500kbit/s if not already set. Under network status, you can check if data packages are coming in Rx and sending Tx.

    Andy, what is your opinion about fuses (per pack) and the type to use? There seems to be consensus that we should use a T-class fuse per pack, because these are one of the few that er rated for the shortcircuit current of lifepo cells (which is higher than the 2.5kA a megafuse can handle)…

After building the box, I top balanced the pack for 2 days to where all cells were within 2mV with an average voltage of 3.64V! Together, the pack only pulled 323 AH at 40 amps! Could this be from over compressing? i want to make 200ah battery pack by connecting 2 pieces 100ah in parallel and then put all 16 pairs of cells in series to make 51.2v...is it a good idea?

    • @OffGridGarageAustralia
      @OffGridGarageAustralia  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can do that. Parallel 2 cells together and then series connect 16 of these pairs. It will make a 2p16s battery. You can use one 16s BMS to control this battery. The downside is that you can't control single cells. The two in parallel act as one for the BMS. So, if one of these two cells has a problem, it's hard to detect.
      To overcome this problem, build two 16s batteries with their own BMS each (full cell control and monitoring) and parallel these two batteries together afterwards.
      It also has the advantage, that you can take one battery offline (repair, maintenance) while the other one keeps powering your system in that time.

    Hello Andy, greathings from Ron from the Netherlands, Gday mate, great video, i just build my first Yixiang 48V DIY Battery Kit with 280Ah EVE cells, I found something strange..... Maybe this is interesting for everyone.!! While installing the battery I noticed something, All batteries were between 0.19mΩ and 0.20mΩ before I placed them in the DIY box and compressed them. But after I placed both PCB boards and before I wanted to connect the measuring wires, I wanted to check the IR again. Very strange, it surprised me a bit. the internal resistance was suddenly 0.30 mΩ on all 16 individual cells. Can you or someone else check that also on your battery? I thought I had placed too much compression on the cells, but that was not the case... as soon as I disassembled the PCB - A and PCB - B, and i measure again, the cells were 0.20mΩ again. Conclusion: probably inductive voltage?? metal over the batteries?

      @@chrisgroothoff2611 no a lot of people flashed 15.27 just fine. Keep address 0000 and connect only 1 BMS to the pc.

      It is buggy and shows the wrong current. Stick with 15.24 until the new one comes out which will fix all our problems!

      @@OffGridGarageAustralia but in the release notes it says: 15.26 fixed Deye comms protocol. Do I need 15.26 better then?

      @@PhilippeCJR I'm not aware that such a version exists. 15.24 and then 15.27. Now they work on 15.30

      V15.27 is buggy and shows wrong current, so better stay with 15.24 for now.

      @@OffGridGarageAustralia dang, was hoping soon meant.. soon. ;)
      I need to get one full kit, cells and all and one box+BMS kit so I can try to build a proper battery from the batteries I got when I had my current install done.
      They have a weird 15 cell internal configuration ( actually (3P5S)3S), so I need to harvest the packs, split them up and rebuild as 8p16s.. somehow.. should be fun tho ;)

      @@OffGridGarageAustralia I thought about that but could you build one of the DIY kits as a 15 cell battery? Besides, it's more fun voiding the warranty and taking the other 3 boxes apart.

    Why are you still messing around with LV stuff. When will you move to HV ?
