Hi, Michael, thanks for these vids. Do you think you could do a video on how to mapping out a basic rock song (let’s say, a b & c section) using, say, guitar/bass/drums? In the timeline, so the loops (e.g. section A guitar, followed by section A bass, etc.) are all planned out but you can “re-perform” it live, hands free, by getting counted in and recording the preset loop parameters in sequence again all the way thru the layers and sections to the end. I think if LP users can master this in a basic way it will really open up the insane level of power this app possesses which no other software does. Thanks.

This is great that your showing this. I don’t understand why the loop can just quantize on the beat if you set it for 4 bars for example. The extra press to set the loop is extremely hard for timing. Also it would be cool to see Warp markers to slide and adjust parts within the loop.
I’m afraid I’m having a little trouble understanding exactly what you’re referring to there - would you mind telling me a bit more, or perhaps doing a little demo video showing the trouble?
I am still missing one feature request i posted months ago (which is a must for boss rc505 users)😢 which is to be able to have different quantization for first recording and overdubs, so we can make like boss rc505, in which first recording has auto count in and out, but after that, subsequent overdubs start and stop recording right away when tapping the donut (right now it will wait for the loop quantize, and doesn’t allow you to quickly add an extra sound to your loop, the way that loop artist do) Anyways it is impressive how many options we already have, keep the good work
I was about to protest that this is indeed already possible, but after playing with it for awhile I think I see what you mean - you can’t use the one trigger for both recording the first loop and going in and out of overdub with no quantisation. You can do it with two buttons, but we need separate actions at the moment. I’ll have a think about how best to make that work - have you added this to the roadmap already? (roadmap.loopypro.com)
@@ATastyPixel i see it implemented the same way you can define different settings for colors than the main clip settings, that is, with a check box in the main clip settings under recording quantizatiom settings that says something like “Apply different settings for overdubs” and when activated below you show the same controls for setting auto count in and out etc, but if checkbox is unselected overdubs behave the same as Recording settings

For me, loopy pro is one of the most exciting and creative developments in audio software in recent years. It's really unfortunate that it's only available for the high-priced Apple world. Many musicians are therefore left out, unfortunately. Still, very exciting tool.
You can buy an iPad for $200 and have access to a universe of inexpensive apps that replace thousands of dollars of traditional hardware or even desktop PC setups. This is one of the cheapest ways to get into music production these days.
Michael, as a fellow developer I know how hard it is to build apps that really fit real life use cases. You’ve nailed it here with Loopy Pro. We’re you exhausted when you made this video? I hope you are getting enough sleep with all this coding!
Hi I appreciate your tutorials very much, I'm a guitar player and I used to play loops with my boss loop station: I'm now trying loopy pro and it seems really great. I have a irig blueboard Bluetooth pedal but I find difficult to pair it with loopy pro. I would really appreciate you to do a step by step tutorial about it, thanks!

You might wanna check the Blueboard manual - you need to put it in the right mode before you'll find it in the MIDI devices list. download.ikmultimedia.com/plugins/Manuals/iRigBlueBoard/iRig-BlueBoard_User_Manual.pdf?513c3ad78c9fbadfb0830893ecdf10e9053fe011cead851654d33e31937ac6247414daf61973d521bb64b2 Page 9. In short: "Push and hold the “B” button and then switch ON the device. This way the BlueBoard will start up in MIDI over Bluetooth mode 1. After this the Status LED will start flashing blue."
Thx for the video. You didnt mention what kind of files you can import into loopy pro and at what sound quality/resolution? I need to import 48khz 24 bit Wav-files - is that posible?....also can you edit the length of the sample within loopy using 15 secs of a 20 sec sample for instance?
Hi! Is there a way to monitor the loop instead of the inputs while recording? Or a way to automatically turn off the monitoring of inputs while not in use? I run a 5 instrument setup and would like the leakage outside of looping to be minimal between instruments (especially in smaller venues) Turning off the inputs automatically when not in use would help a bunch 🥳 Awesome software, looking forward to the Mac version 🙌
Nvm! Found it, to anyone else having a hard time figuring this out; set the mute/unmute button on the input channel to follow the start/stop record of the loop 🎉

Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to have a count-in on the first recording. I want to have a 1 or 2 bar count in. But it seems to start recording immediately. I have viewed this tutorial and the manual, but can’t figure it out. Maybe I am missing something? Thanks for any help.
If you use the sequencer to lay out the tracks, then you can export from there with effects applied (assuming the AUv3s in question support offline rendering, which most do!). Or you can use session recording (the "REC" button on the top toolbar) to record and export the live audio.
Such a great app indeed! Can't wait to use at my gigs as vst plugin for my DAW on Windows laptop. Is there a release date for such possibilty or maybe some plans on that matter? P. S. Cause Mobius looper I am using right now is pretty much expired compared to Loopy Pro.
Windows is going to be a fair way off, I'm afraid; macOS is coming this year, but a Windows port is a bigger job, and I've got enough on my plate already 😁
Any word on the plugin version of this for MacOS? I'm excited to integrate it into my Ableton workflow as it looks much more usable than Ableton's stock looper :)
I just so happen to own the LPPMK3 and the APC40mk2, what I would like to know, is it possible to have independent layouts on each? ie, I can have the APC40 as a 'mixer, and the LPP as the Widgets. So make Page A mixer and Page B widgets Thanks in advance, absolutely cant wait to get into your amazing product!
Yep, you can do that - you can pretty much set things up however you like. There's default bindings set up for both those devices, but you can make your own.
On the default screen, why don't you have different colours to show what state you are in. Eg. Red for Record Mode, Green for Playback, Blue for overdubs etc?

It would be incredible if you could develop a feature that recognizes the tempo of a drum and creates a bpm detection like ableton tempo Follower. That +midi bluetooth would change the world.
Ive been trying to stick with Loopy pro, but the one thing i cant seem to figure out is, if I record my first loop and it happens to be 8 bars, every subsequant loop has to be 8 bars. Can I not have loop 1 be 8 bars, and then loop 2 be 12, and loop 3 be 14 etc.
I love loopy But please dont change it to often or to mutch like others disrbuters does then you Will get many Buying this i bought this Today and its the best program thanks Micheal ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸😃😃😃
Is there a way to record directly to the LP timeline as I’m starting/stoping my loops instead of manually building my loops on the timeline? This is the best looper on iOS by far. 🙏🙏

I didn’t write down the community forum for loopy pro. Right now the app is not saving my work. I get an error message about “unable to save because the .mysql file does not exist”
auto Loop Detection doesn't seem to be working when the iPad is used in a split-screen fashion. I am trying to record Conga sound (app on my iPad). It captures sound but does not auto-fill the loop area as per your example (it leaves a large gap at the end). It does work in normal mode using my voice.
I’d be interested to see some samples of the loops that aren’t being detected properly. I’d you record some, you can send them to me (email address in “Help” in the app)
Michael, it looks like there is something wrong somewhere in my clip setting. Now I am completely unable to use Loop Detection properly. I have sent you an email with my project attached.
ATastyPixel - can we have a tutorial on how to connect a hardware midi keyboard to control notes on an AUV3 plug-in in Loopy Pro? I’d like to control 4 different AUV3 synths in Loopy Pro with my new LaunchPad Pro. Thanks.
@@ATastyPixel ahhh okay. Was hopping you had a guide on how to do this. I really like how you do your tutorials. Since you built this, you know how to get right to the point and make it consice. Like how you’ve done your other Loopy Pro Videos. Hope he drops his video soon.
@@ATastyPixel Thank you Michael for getting back to me on this. I was able to get LaunchPad Pro MK3 to play an AUV3 Synth on Loopy Pro. Though it would only play the first of 2 synths I had assumed were midi channel 1 and channel 2. Turns out, that is NOT the case. You dont have midi channel selection and setting capabilability on Loopy Pro, do you? Cause if you did I should be able to set midi channel 1 on LP Pro to control Loopy pro channel 1 synth and set channel 2 on LP Pro to control channel 2 synth on loopy pro. Well shoot I was really hoping to make Loopy pro be my AUM replacment. I’m guessing AUM level of channel routing is a feature request. Bummer.

Loopy pro is a real masterpiece! Can the retrospective/intro/tail capability solve some aspects of latency problems? When recording from inputs that suffer latency we could choose a certain amount of milliseconds to be cut from the beginning and to be pasted (fade?) at the end of loop, to compensate. The recorded audio would mostly be in sync even if the monitoring wouldn't... But it's something. Seems pretty easy... 🤭God, please can you make it?
Thank you! Sounds like we might just need a "Latency compensation" slider for audio inputs that don't correctly report their latency! Normally this should be taken care of by the system, but it sounds like you may have a badly-behaved device there. I'll make a note.
P.S. Great genius + great gentleman: I mean a developer who reads what is just a yt comment, takes note and reply after less than a day from my posting... You're making the world (not only the -wide-web one) a better place!!! 🥲🤖🎤🎧🎛⚡︎❤️🔥
Everything I record/loop is clipping and very distorted. I'm using my acoustic and the iPhone mic. I tried moving it farther away. I've tried lowering the input. Help please?

There basically isn't one... I tested it a couple years back during development and got something like 128 playing clips on my iPad Air 2 going before I got bored and stopped making more. The main limitation is running AUv3 effects, rather than playing clips.
Class! Thanks for the reply. My idea is to have loopy running on an Ipad sitting in a case, closed under a fader fox PC12. If i could get all the pots configured to midi, i could mix stems and loops on the fly, like a pot luck system mixing and matching along with my live set. The ipad would be like the hidden brains for my PC12, adding layers and drum loops to my euro rack / octatrack setup. @@ATastyPixel
Hi I am struggling to make widgets work through a midi pedal as I program the midi learn but it doesn’t work. The widgets are assign to do function such as clear clips in specific groups.
Hi! Oh yes, this is a known issue in the current version - a fix on its way over the next few days. The workaround is to use a project profile, rather than a global one, for widget actions.
Someone please let me know how to record multiple loops without the previous loops playing onto the new loop I'm recording? Is there a setting in the mixer of loopy pro? Help!
It sounds to me like you're perhaps recording with the device's speaker and the internal mic. You can limit feedback this way by using the built-in echo cancellation system (you should see the prompt to calibrate it at top right), but this is a very suboptimal way to use any looper, because the mic is going to capture the output from the speaker. You should be using either headphones, or a decent-quality cardioid mic that rejects noise.
Thanks 🙏 but no, I'm recording into loopy pro with a mixer and an electric guitar plugged in. If I have drum and bass going on two loops and I try to record my electric guitar, it picks up the bass and drum from the other loops. It's not a microphone issue. Please help! It just configured wrong I think.
@@PJmusica Ah! I beg your pardon. Do you perhaps have some loops sending to others? (in the "Destinations" section of the mixer, for your colours, do you have any colours there?)
On my iPhone when I return to "default settings and use a mic 🎤 it works fine but with my Soundcraft mixing console going direct into my iPad I've been having problems with tracks recording onto the track I want to record a new instrument on. I think I might have the solution. Thanks for helping. For the most part I just love loopy pro. It's a blast.
@@PJmusica Okay - I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that hardware, but I have heard of some hardware that does feed the output back to the input. You might need to contact the support folks from Soundcraft to get some help maybe? You'll be able to see for sure if you start something playing in LP, then you see it showing up on the input channel.
I'm so late to this. Thank you it makes me super happy. Wishing it will be able to send cc automations to hardware synth, then resample this as an audio loop = heaven @@ATastyPixel

You can buy an iPad for $200 and have access to a universe of inexpensive apps that replace thousands of dollars of traditional hardware or even desktop PC setups. This is one of the cheapest ways to get into music production these days.
It's really a wonderful music creation thing. Please can you make it so AUBE can filter the auv3's or/and add a favourites tab to the auv3 add/search?
Hey Micheal
Thank you for creating the coolest app ever
You also helped me and my music teachers to use loopy pro
I appreciate you. David
Loopy pro is amazing. How can I use the Logic Pro plug-ins with loopy pro?
Manual trimming always works for me.
Michael, as a fellow developer I know how hard it is to build apps that really fit real life use cases. You’ve nailed it here with Loopy Pro. We’re you exhausted when you made this video? I hope you are getting enough sleep with all this coding!
Haha. Shouldn’t have skipped make up, huh?
All I can see is his pretty blue eyes
Hello, max, I’m trying to use loopy pro to live stream on instagram, but I can’t seem to make it work. Would you have any advice
Thanks! You might wanna check the Blueboard manual - you need to put it in the right mode before you'll find it in the MIDI devices list. download.ikmultimedia.com/plugins/Manuals/iRigBlueBoard/iRig-BlueBoard_User_Manual.pdf?513c3ad78c9fbadfb0830893ecdf10e9053fe011cead851654d33e31937ac6247414daf61973d521bb64b2 Page 9. In short: "Push and hold the “B” button and then switch ON the device. This way the BlueBoard will start up in MIDI over Bluetooth mode 1. After this the Status LED will start flashing blue."
@@ATastyPixel thanks a lot and my best compliments for your project and your kindness
I just bought loopy Pro fantastic . Any chance you could do a template for absolute beginners like dummy level ?
Total genius.
Are there any apps you can add to loopy pro for vocal harmony?
Thx for the video. You didnt mention what kind of files you can import into loopy pro and at what sound quality/resolution? I need to import 48khz 24 bit Wav-files - is that posible?....also can you edit the length of the sample within loopy using 15 secs of a 20 sec sample for instance?
You can import anything which is audio; yes to both questions.
I'm sure I've set something incorrectly but I can't get seamless loops. How do I set it up for that?
It was important to know that you have to click play first for all the settings to function!
I don't know if you deliberately chose a ring light to light this video, but it's brilliant either way.
😁
Hi! Is there a way to monitor the loop instead of the inputs while recording? Or a way to automatically turn off the monitoring of inputs while not in use?
I run a 5 instrument setup and would like the leakage outside of looping to be minimal between instruments (especially in smaller venues)
Turning off the inputs automatically when not in use would help a bunch 🥳
Awesome software, looking forward to the Mac version 🙌
Nvm! Found it, to anyone else having a hard time figuring this out; set the mute/unmute button on the input channel to follow the start/stop record of the loop 🎉
Hello! my name is Quio Araujo, I've used my name is Quio Araujo, many different loopers and I've been working for decades with different software and DAWs on Windows since 1998. I just bought an iPad Pro and a Loopy Pro. This is the first time in my life that I have an Apple product, and the reason is its creation: "Loopy Pro".
Good afternoon, my name is Quio Araujo, I am Brazilian and I would like to know. Please, what is the procedure to make Loop Pro recognize the connection with the Audio Interface for recording procedures and operations in projects in Loppr Pro?
Hi! I highly recommend joining one of the communities: loopypro.com/communities. They're positive and friendly places with lots of knowledgable people who'll be happy to help.
Not sure how you built this but i hope it makes you very wealthy.
Can wait for the Mac computer version
Well done.
Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to have a count-in on the first recording. I want to have a 1 or 2 bar count in. But it seems to start recording immediately. I have viewed this tutorial and the manual, but can’t figure it out. Maybe I am missing something? Thanks for any help.
Sure - you need to set a tempo first.
Hello! Do you know how export audio + effects? I´m trying but is imposible exporting with effects. Thanks a lot!
I love the thumb, .... well chosen holy man of looping.
🤛😌🤌
Is there a way of triggering a software drum app like say beat station or using an external pedal
Indeed there is. I recommend joining one of the communities to get help with that sort of thing. loopypro.com/communities
androif version when available?
Any word on the plugin version of this for MacOS? I'm excited to integrate it into my Ableton workflow as it looks much more usable than Ableton's stock looper :)
Yep, working on it now, it'll be out this year (also works standalone, and can host VSTs and AUs)
I just so happen to own the LPPMK3 and the APC40mk2, what I would like to know, is it possible to have independent layouts on each?
ie, I can have the APC40 as a 'mixer, and the LPP as the Widgets. So make Page A mixer and Page B widgets
Thanks in advance, absolutely cant wait to get into your amazing product!
Yep, you can do that - you can pretty much set things up however you like. There's default bindings set up for both those devices, but you can make your own.
@@ATastyPixel that’s amazing. Think there could be a video made about that?
On the default screen, why don't you have different colours to show what state you are in. Eg. Red for Record Mode, Green for Playback, Blue for overdubs etc?
Not quite sure I'm following you there; that's how it works already...
how to record tails (or beginings) ?? tryed every tick in clip settings but can not record anacrusis

You been practicing beat boxing man? Nice
Yep! Tap "REC" on the top toolbar, and select "Sequence". Thank you!
😅 always wondered why there was a ˋrecordˋ button up on the top right 🤪🙏🙏
I'm getting a lot of static on my iPad. How can I clean this up?
I highly recommend joining one of the communities: loopypro.com/communities. They're positive and friendly places with lots of knowledgable people who'll be happy to help.
I didn’t write down the community forum for loopy pro. Right now the app is not saving my work. I get an error message about “unable to save because the .mysql file does not exist”
That's pretty weird, haven't seen that one before! Can you reach out via support@atastypixel.com?
auto Loop Detection doesn't seem to be working when the iPad is used in a split-screen fashion.
Thanks.
I believe JP is just about to release a new video about MIDI! Watch this space: th-cam.com/play/PLO36LpORUSaYsDmWvl2tqZr3flIVH2ffl.html
@@ATastyPixel ahhh okay. Was hopping you had a guide on how to do this. I really like how you do your tutorials. Since you built this, you know how to get right to the point and make it consice. Like how you’ve done your other Loopy Pro Videos. Hope he drops his video soon.
@@letssamplethis7641 If I feel like I can contribute more, I'll do a vid on it after JP posts
Bummer.
@@letssamplethis7641 Yep, you can do that in LP. Tap a midi destination to set channel and note range. Do join one of the communities to discuss: loopypro.com/communities
How can I make it stop when going from one loop to the next?
With play groups loopypro.com/manual/#play-groups
@@ATastyPixel THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
P.S.

Everything I record/loop is clipping and very distorted. I'm using my acoustic and the iPhone mic. I tried moving it farther away. I've tried lowering the input. Help please?

@@ATastyPixelThank you.
How can I upgrade my loopy pro for another 12 months? Can’t find a way to do so inside the app 😢
Not there just yet, this will start in 1.1, which I’m getting ready for release now
@@ATastyPixel I ask because I can’t find the knob I see on INKIE’s video, the one can set different stages for effect.
@@jin2984 That's coming very soon, in 1.1, which I'm finishing off as we speak!
Whats the maximum amount of loops you can have running at the same time? Anyone done a benchmark with the m1 ipad?
Sounds like, from what you are saying it might just work!
@@ingenuk4266 Yep! Should do
Hi I am struggling to make widgets work through a midi pedal as I program the midi learn but it doesn’t work.
Wouldn’t Loopy Pro with Midi notes be a game changer?
Working on it now
I'm so late to this. Thank you it makes me super happy. Wishing it will be able to send cc automations to hardware synth, then resample this as an audio loop = heaven @@ATastyPixel
Still nothing for Android huh?
No - I wouldn’t expect to see Android support for a number of years yet, if ever
@@ATastyPixel yeah why make an app that will double your income? 🤣
Of course, you CAN set Loopy Pro to stop recording using press, rather than release.
Please, for the love of God I spent the $29 I want to support you. Can’t you make a simple intro video that shows someone how to make one loop at a time and then build from there do you have to give me a 50 course meal right out the gate come on get real
