Conflicts aboard stations would be awesome, like supporting a guerrilla faction by smuggling in supplies, sabotaging ships and having firefights in hanger bays or new parts of the station.
CQC aboard a station would be crazy ngl
Here’s a suggestion: The Elite portion of the Frontier livestream features CMDR Burr as a co-host!
here's a suggestion, STOP MAKING IT THE LAST SEGMENT!!!
Not while I breath, thanks :)
Elite being the last segment on frontier unlocked makes it "the headline act" ... It should absolutely be the last segment :)
@@Fylasfrommabi Fdev know most of the viewers are Elite players. Most of the comments are asking Fdev about elite news. They put it at the end to retain the viewers until the end.
Alas, FDEV have a long tradition of not harnessing good ideas.
I'll make my judgements when the update gets in my hands. I am looking forward to it!
Good to see I wasn't the only one that thought the deep dive ... wasn't.
I think the "vending machines" are the furniture dotted around the stations that say "SUVO" and "SRZIC" - they have drawers at the bottom like real-life vending machines, and the SRZIC one has a picture of a glass and bubbles in the background, so it's probably a drinks machine. Never quite worked out what SUVO is though.
I think many of us are still wondering that too....
I really hope they have more planned for Powerplay 2.0 than just "the stations will look different".
I get not revealing everything but wow, that's all it feels like it is so far.
They literally said that this was a small snippet of what's to come.
@@jonathangraham429 but why lead with something they must know will make a content starved audience furious? This is one of the places that remains mostly optimistic but most other places are seething. If you're not ready to reveal any deeper mechanics then just don't release anything!
@@MNewtonI really don't understand why anyone would be furious or seething. I like what I've seen so far, albeit not a huge amount. But as they said, there is a lot more to come.
I really do not get the anger.
I've just started playing the game and have no idea what any of this means but im happy for all of you!
I started playing in 2014, but since 2016 I have only played E:D on rare occasions - and I still dont have a clue about the Powerplay 🤣
I'm interested to see how they attract non combat focused players into PP.
It is very clear that non combat is no longer a concern for Frontier. May Frontier Rest In Peace.
Yea. Its been cleae that they are chasing the money for a long time now.
Pew Pew is what makes money so they are going to focus on it more. Im very confident that some form of "loot boxes" are going to be introduced soon.
@@gfm_rdg6708 May the half empty glass you drink from, rest in peace.
I'm still erring on the side of this being the initial announcement without much mechanical depth to it but it sort blows me away that what boils down to some cosmetic changes was what they decided to lead with. The must know that the player base that remains is hungry for meaningful content and this announcement of cosmetic change content had exactly the backlash one would expect. Heaven forbid if this is actually all it is (I don't actually think so, I'm guessing it's deeper) but for a team that used to do so well at releasing things in a viral sort of way to the great excitement of an expectant audience, to go to this here's some cosmetic changes we've made to a system no one really uses stuff is kinda wild.
Awesome job
What I gleaned from the states that systems can be in, and the map, is that in the new power play the Controlled systems won’t be the major ones we fight over getting the Exploited ones for free meaning that most activities only center on the control systems.
Instead it looked like any system can be “owned” and from there can have a state.
My guess is that each level of control produces a bubble of influence that makes the ones in the bubble hard to take. So a cluster of Strongholds will be a notable hard to assail point and things will focus on the fringe Controlled systems allowing you to weaken a Fortified system and eventually take it.
A bit like we have to weaken each Titan first.
Loved the adverts for the Python 2 on the walkabout around the station ;)
I wanna see a massive fleet scale battle. Like multiple Farraguts and Majestics duking it out
Excellent videography this week, camerawork is always up there, but I really enjoyed just watching while you talked. On to the questions!
I liked it! I like to see things like this and it feels good to have the stations change depending on what happened, can't wait to walk into one not having known before I got there and be like, wait am I in imperial space?
I'm not sure how to answer that one, obviously I've ground out the modules, so... you know I've done it, but actually participating and trying to expand it? Well... I dunno. If my crew prioritizes it then I'll probably go along, but I still don't see how this will exceed the bgs as a front line concern for those in the space. Does it like, really change anything that matters or is it just the paint job and banners?
I'd like to see those things in a conflict zone, that's for sure! I'd really like to see them launch banks of missiles or torpedoes. But that's me
I'm going to offer my services to whichever power has a size 3 or 4 railgun :)
I don't think the terminals are the vending machines because if they were they wouldn't have referred to them as vending machines. OTOH there are other illuminated panels in the station that to me are more likely.
I'm not convinced it a big enough change to power play it still the same with more bells an whistles and still no substance or encouragement to get involved
when the Update drops, i want to test out the Powerplay, because i never played it
Completely agree with conflict aboard stations. I also hope the stronghold carriers can be utilised to generate large scale battles within system ie. Bruteforce attack on another stronghold system. I feel more can be done to trigger the need to do this. A bit of tweeking to commodites so there is more desparation for certain ones at times that mean there is a need to compete for systems and including stations being affected more and becoming less operable if not maintained by the player base.
I'd love to see the power related fleets to represent their respective character by design.
The imperial fleets could have e.g. a "royal yacht" of some kind or be accompanied by one or two ornamented interdictor capital ships, while other factions may have something like a mobile pirate trading hub or a mobile military dockyard etc...
"i, the federation has taken conrol of this sector. scrub the graffitti from the walls, hang up banners of my glorious self, AND TEAR OUT THOSE VENDING MACHINES, REPLACE THEM WITH FEDERATION VENDING MACHINES!!!" (seriously i think i like what they are doing... federation/empire are going to get riled up about changing the banners)
I am curious about what they plan to do with the modules granted by the prior system. Like other long-time players of Elite, I took the time to gather modules from each faction to crowd my storage and am hesitant to part with my precious mining lances 😉
buy a dedicated ship to hold on to your lances as a storage till one day they will be needed again... btw, they are next on my power play list
Aww, Holly was cool, has a natural stage presence - hope she's off to presenting on TV or something. Nice spotting on the cargo hatches, that's indicative of some things I hadn't thought of. Maybe also powerplay pledges might be a good system to introduce exclusive ships too, which, while pledged you will keep, but if you defect you keep only until you lose it, and will not get back at a rebuy screen. Just an idea. New niche modules and lasers just were never really incentive enough for me.
She joined something called the natural six and playing D&D
My question is on what 'theme/s' Frontier will introduce that have had a similar collaborative effect the Thargoids provoked. Post Thargoid content ? Yeah Powerplay (II) and more ships yes indeed, however when we had for example 'Distant worlds', this got cmdrs' together. The Thargoids have clearly provoked more focus from swaths of players, but with the (thargoid) twilight approaching what will take it's place and raise cmdr's desires to get out there into the black. With all our weaponry and mastery of the galaxy, it's when there has been 'significant challenges' that Frontier gets more of the cmdrs focusing back on the game. I'm not disregarding the potential implied when Powerplay is reissued, however and respectfully, with the vastness of space at our disposal, Frontier needs to fill the vast frigid coldness with more intrigue. When they do, as witnessed, it does work.
What i would love to see is more frontline services on carriers, give players more accessibility to conflicts happening, i am currently having a blast with frontline's on foot conflicts
The stream was a bit underwhelming with little news about PowerPlay besides a reskin. Let's hope next one will reveal something about the gameplay changes.
I play exclusively in Solo, what impact will it have on me and I have on it?
Little slow on the uptake, are you saying leigone is the better titan to farm at and also a CMDR should bring caustic sinks also?
Yes
No matter what (I hope) new mechanics are forthcoming, one question is, as FDev want to "encourage" PVP, will 2.0 be Open Play only? This was always an issue for Commanders who took the risks to play in open, only to see their work being undermined by others going into solo and shooting NPC's. It's a tricky question as "open only" vs "not open only" arguments have valid points on either side of the fence.
Power play is a pvp flag so I would hope more active missions that allow you to hack or protect power play infrastructure would allow for consenting pvp play but who knows. Probably not.
I needed that cytoscrambler for my Eagle. I think I forgot to ever leave that faction.
How can we add RADAR to any ships or just ASP?
I love the that Fontier are doing things like this, and are really trying to keep the community happy. Frontier have made a few mistakes in the past yes, But I truly believe Frontier are one of the best games companies on the market today!
Just a few mistakes? 😂 Nobody asked for power play so how is this going to make community happy
As a passenger evacuation pilot, I would love powerplay missions involving freeing prisoners or inserting saboteurs/covert agents.
For a prisoner rescue, you're given a timer to get to the target station and select the proper mission, and then you have to escape without being shot down. If you take too long to reach the target station, you get a mission failure message from the power owning it, taunting you and stating that the prisoners are back in their cells, soon to be relocated. You're then given a new mission to intercept the prisoner transport, and failing that, you receive another taunt plus the associated reputation penalties.
For the infiltration, you pick up the agents and then deliver them to the target, doing so without being scanned. If you're scanned and the agents detected, you get hit with hatch breakers, and then have the option to go into the prisoner rescue loop.
question what is the rotating module on top of the asp explorer?
found answer survey ship kit.
/bump for the depth that eludes the Negative Nancys. May they find their Golden Goose someday 👩🏻🚀 🍻
The Frontier Unlocked stream definitely wasn't as detailed as I thought it'd be lol, but the whole change of aesthetic and the fleet stuff is pretty neat, bringing some of that player impact into the game that people really want. I admit I've not had any interest at all in Power Play beyond grinding for the points to get cool toys like Pack Hounds, but depending on how much they revamp it, I may partake! We'll see what they show off later.
Thanks for keeping us updated! sir
Might bring me back to the game
🚀
really looking forward to what they're cooking up for PP
Too little, too late.
I thought the PP reveal was good but underwhelming, but I'll give that some slack because the original presenter was out sick. The thing that made me the most excited was when Luke offhandedly suggested that PP 2.0 might have some similarities to the Thargoid War, but with players on both sides instead of just an AI. That's definitely part of what I'm hoping to see. Looking forward to more details soon.
So i like the video i have been watching this for a while wanting to play it but is it actually worth it and is it actually actuve ?? I hear both great and bad about this game
Players: "Pls make powerplay more engaging and rewarding"
Frontier: *DECALS ON VENDING MACHINES*
They literally said there is loads more to see. And there are the faction fleet carriers that we can mess with somehow.
And maybe even graffiti!!
The art is fine, but it was very lacked details. I think they will reuse the thargoid war assets on the map, so you could see the progress and the activities. This is good.
However I have doubts that this will be viable, as this update should have been done years ago, and not now when the active player base is low, and separated (even between those who has the DLC and don't). O7
if this pvp powerplay is going to work, they need to rebalance some of the ships and sort engineering and its grind, or those long term problems will hinder it, i hope they make something out of this, even late that it is
All looks promising enough. The first and most important thing to do to fix powerplay is to remove the clumsy fancy module acquisition loop.
I suspect 90% of people only engage with powerplay to grindloop the quickest route to a module unlock at the moment and that twists the whole powerplay game out of shape. After all, the minority that are interested in this gameloop find their strategies can't possibly progress due to excess attention in systems that don't need it.
I don't say get rid of the modules, just make it so that they are earned in a different way. Maybe a power will offer special linked missions to CMDRs that have a high enough rating (and for long enough) and offer one of these modules as a reward.
I think it should also be much tougher for CMDRs that abandon a pledge. For months afterwards, such a CMDR should always feel a need to look over their shoulder - especially if they are in a controlled system. Be cool to have an on-foot assassins tracking such CMDRs and hoping to catch up with them at a settlement somewhere sometime.
It all looks like superficial changes to me, changing the flags and coloring at space stations, making a different power play bubble colored map, big woop, your still grinding like space ants just moving pebbles from one hill to another for points, I see nothing there to get very excited about myself but that's me.
They literally said you can easier detect in the map what's happening and how many players might Influencer a system - this way they might force pvp more. Problem is, a lot of players are in solo / private
That’s what I got out of it too, it sounded like they were just adding skins for stations based on current powers… I was like… wtf, 2.0 is just flags and graffiti? Did I miss something? I doubt this was a common complaint for people engaged in powerplay activities.
Did you listen to Buur's report here? He literally says there was no deep dive on new mechanics because the Powerplay Lead was out sick.
I hope they change the credits system- where by you only get the rewards if you achieve some sort of average daily, The mechanic where by you can pledge and then ignore everything for two weeks and do a mad rush in a big ship for a couple of trips always seemed odd too me.
@@agentmith new ships to engage with (or maybe even to be engaged by) where also mentioned.
My expectations for PP2.0 are now very low. If that’s the “teaser” the meat doesn’t seem very fulfilling.
How do you figure that out with such limited information?
At this point of time, I am not sure if I will invest any time in the new powerplay. It all depends on how intuitive this will be. The old version looks quite convoluted to me and very oldschool, in a not-so-positive way. Thus I didn't bother partaking in it, as none of the rewards felt to me like being worth the hassle.
The changes to the map are welcome, nonetheless, as they make even tasks that are not directly connected to the PP a little easier.
I hope PP’s game mechanics change. As is, it’s horrific.
Missions to place graffitis as a way to undermine a power’s authority would be funny.
Other than that, I liked the changes. Maybe a bit too much in your face and the signs looked too planet coastery.
Open only or it's just a reskin and no community or development progress will be made.
maybe we can finally see our princess's glory displayed from one side of the bubble to the other. Glory to the Empire!
I much prefer her Auntie
Ohh niceee!!!!!!
This is ok and all but wheres my commandable dreadnaught Frontier? We get these basically useless fleet carriers that are expensive glorified taxis and dont even have a way to use them for combat unless someone is stupid enough to fly in range and shoot at you. I want to see bigger ships for players like me that have years into the game and actual capital fights for system control. They had such a good opportunity with carriers to let us pack the hangers with clan members and jump in assault forces to a combat flashpoint. Could you imagine how amazing it would be for a galactic alert to go out for a Thargoid incursion and have an all hands call go out to all clan members to board the fleet carriers loaded with AX weaponry? Fleet carrier commanders could time the jump and have an overwhelming player force drop into system on the backs of these carriers and unleash hell on any invading forces with the carriers as repair and resupply backup. Could have certain Thargoids move to attack the carriers to cut off escape routes and resupply to where you have an actual risk to losing your carrier and the ability to pull your squad out of the fight.
Powerplay? 👀👂🏼
I want to be able to attack other players fleet carriers.
I’m still waiting for powerplay bobbleheads.
powerplay mines that are focused toward planet bombings would be cool! if we ever get new "bombing" missions.
I've got all the powerplay goodies that i will ever need so I'll be ignoring the new powerplay stuff in its entirety unless the include rewards that players can get over and above what they currently provide. If this new powerplay degredates my current game play then I'll just abandon the bubble all together.
Art assets because they've never been able to design great gameplay loops. Or even good ones for that matter. Remember Engineering? Remember biological scanning stuff? If the fundamental gameplay of Powerplay is the same it's a dud. Sure the graphical changes may be noticed for a month or two but do people even power players stick around for that long in one area let alone one system? As those system states changes so does the content and if you're looking for specific content that's where you go until it dries up and you move on.
Very bizarre choices from day one but at least the control system is really good and wish it would be implemented in all other space games - it is kind of for the most part. Free intra system cruising in Star Citizen would be very nice and would free us up from the stupid star map and the OM markers to get around a celestial body.
We need better reward modules from powerplay, who wants a class 1 mining laser that does more damage or class 1 beam weapon that causes more heat damage than actual damage? Especially considering that the Alliance is a major power in the game.
Power Play hasn't enticed me in all the years I've been playing Elite Dangerous, I haven't engaged as the thought of being hunted down by a faction for leaving Power Play or switching sides completely puts me off.
Worked ny butt off for a week taking media to outlying posts....got sod all for it. Would love Bloodhound missiles, but how to get them?
Jump back to home system, and all the carrier cool kids are hanging out at the milk bar....Im talking hundreds of player carriers.
They should charge them port duty tax for holing up in the bubble.
Wait, what's power play? I only have like 50m credits.
what in heavens name makes these people think that Asling duvalls banner hanging from a ceiling, or vending machines, or increased npc powerplay will attract new players or bring old players back. It wont. A new feature such as base building on the other hand would do both. It would give players the incentive and the ability to leave the bubble and spread out across the galaxy. Start your own bubble. Soon there would be many bubbles and then you would see some REAL player faction power play. Imagine the possibilities! Why cant they see this? Their lack of vision is infuriating!! They need to open their eyes before the game goes down the toilet and they will have no one to blame but themselves.
Just imagine what could be done with some imagination and the systems and assets they already have built in the same engine for some of their other games like Jurrasic Park. Terraforming worlds, building cites, alien life forms. It would be nice if the powers that be at Frontier actually had some vision and ambition to make this game amazing.
I would like to see Power Play made Open only, since it was originally meant to provide consensual pvp. That would allow players to actively counter players from opposing powers. It would also force any bots into the open
I'm hoping they link power play and bgs together, give factions aligned with super power boosts in inf when going bgs, and please my hostile super powers to you attack you. At the moment, nothing attacks you or stops you accessing a none pleaded hostile super power station
so far we know pp 2.0 is more like a cosmetic change :// I hope not...
🥱So far not impressed, my hopes aren't SUPER low though. Personally, I EXTREEMLY rarely get out of my ship on a station in Odyssey. A few aesthetic changes here and there wont even catch my eye since I'm simply running to sell my exo-bio data and leaving asap. Hoping that if it's ONLY going to be visual changes, that there is at least more shown throughout the WHOLE station instead of just on foot. However I doubt they would only do so little, that would be horrible for PR. Still excited for the new ships unless they're only for combat, which is something I almost never do. Am I excited? As of right now, I guess we shall see!! o7
Same Frontier approach as ever: all flash, no substance. They'll need more than decals and banners to turn PP into a really new feature.
The Power Play v2.0 deep dive left me cold. But it's early days.
PP2.0 yeah what a disappointment, I was expecting something big like goid FPS combat
Power Play 2.0, Interesting. I dont get it. I was playing when Fronteir first released Power Play. My opinions of Power Play, I will keep to myself. Is Power Play 2.0 the next update that every player is hoping for? Power Play, really. Well ok. Lets see.
Only about 7 years to late
I would totally participate in powerplay but combat continues to be unrewarding and costly.
Hopefully constructive criticism... it's weird to have random B-roll main screen, and the images associated with current convo as small unreadable inserts.
I like the idea of revamping power play, and I hope this works out. However, the way it's being described says to me that just about everyone is going to pledge to Aisling Duval just because they'd rather see her on a banner everywhere than Space Bryan Cranston.
why do they drag things like this? whats the point of a first look? just put it in the update. nothing about the ships... what is with the dragging feet?
I believe it's to fuel confidence in investors and garner the player base back before they're ready to implement it. I feel your sentiment however and want to see it as well
While it's good to see the game changing, it's also very sad how slow and underwhelming the changes are. Power Play is very criticized by the community since when I stopped playing, FIVE years ago, and I've been looking for a reason to return ever since, but it's still the same thing: game is still very unbalanced, on foot combat still has terrible gunplay, and now with this stream, which showed only a few revamped stations on what is supposed to be an overhaul of an entire mechanic... I don't know man, it's not like Frontier has never overpromised and underdelivered, right?
I don't want PP to turn into a griefing fest. I am not into PVP. I do PP now but if its just going to be a reason for asshats to gank then I will have nothing further to do with it.
How is powerplay PVP ganking? Ridiculous notion.
Dude, hauling merits and getting killed by an enemy faction is not ganking. You're expecting another power to just let you undermine a system without opposition? Powerplay is one of the very few sources of ACTUAL organic PVP in this game. That's what it's designed for. Personally I hope they make it impossible to contribute to PP in solo mode.
If you have a problem with getting killed, stop flying defenseless ships in popular systems or get good.
Powerplay is a PVP flag. The person literally says enemy. Bump up those shields and have fun with it.
Basebuilding for your power! Without that, I m leaving the game
Sounds more like powerplay 1.0.1a and nowhere close to 2.0
Wow, they really are trying to polish a turd (...and failing)! I personally will never get interested in it.
Although you can’t polish a turd, you can roll it in glitter 💩🎉😂
Powerplay, PVP, but we explorers out in the Black are doomed. Frontier doesn´t care for us at all. Keep your stupid Thargoids and your powerplay. Give Exploration a meaning and I don´t mean scanning boring plantlife on and on again.
These news of Powerplay 2.0 are a disappointment for now.
They rework visuals, but no news of the MAIN problem (the most MAIN of all, atleast for me) - Powerplay is available to participate from Solo and Private. Having to take into account the people who do their powerplay from the safety of their pocket universe, and in the mean time being unable to disrupt it via PvP actions (and yes the whole Powerplay stuff is a PvP activity imo) is nonsense, making the whole point of playing powerplay meaningless. What's the point of participating if someone in their Private universe can haul stuff and never be seen or killed?
Until they get their stuff together and make a willful decision to finally move Powerplay to Open-only, it is gonna stay a dead mode. People should have equal abilities in this mode, meaning if you haul stuff you should be accessible for enemy agents to hunt down and to attack.
Just hauling papers doesnt differ from any other hauling mission after all. There should be a thrill about this, and the only way to add a thrill to it is to make it dangerous. You haul stuff into the enemy system, people should be able to hunt you. Thus when you want to haul stuff you call a couple of your pvp friends with you to guard. This is much more interesting than just - log into Private or Solo and please have at it, safe galaxy awaits...
This is what killed the Powerplay 1.0 in the first place, not some visuals deficiency, the Frontier as always don't see the real deal, just some bells and whistles instead...
As someone who only plays in Solo, I agree with you. Poer play should be a PvP only thing. That might be what would get me to actually do some more PvP.
when are they going to bring life into the game in terms of alien life instead of some spinning plates in the space called thargoids? game has basically barren moons with few plant life and even fewer alien life... not worth the play....
Not interested in Power play whatsoever... I don't PvP in any game and consequently I only ever play Elite in Group or Solo mode.
Powerplay forced to be in Open only? No thanks. If I wanted to PvP, I wouldn't play in Solo. If you want open-world, forced PvP, there's a game for you. It's called EVE Online.
Ah yes F Dev up to nothing again
One word: Meh
Console
Frankly I'd be happy if they allowed you to buy a ship load of power play flyers all at once instead of buy 10, pay 100k to get the next, buy 10 and so on for 20 minutes...........lets fix that ayyyyyyyyyyyy!
