thank you dear Olga, finally i found a real honest decent place to learn about the real life of ukraine and of course about real family oriented ladies who can appreciate a humble real mature man like me, blessings.........
This video helped me a lot to understand the language better it is very similiar to spanish only change the pronunciation on most words . you are very intelligent!!!
Hi Olga, im from Brazil and im study russian language. I think the portuguese language have a similar words too, for example the word ends GYA in portuguese its GIA. Other words the write and proununce its the same, like a SISTEMA, PROBLEMA and NORMA. Thank you to share this video. I like so much your channel.
in Russian and Ukrainian very much borrowed words from Latin, French, English and German. Also there are many Turkic words. For example the word Maidan is Turkic
Thank you very much for this video Olia!! This information is pretty useful!! I have just some questions to do: What's the relation of ukrainian and latin language? And... What's the influence of greek language to the ukraininan? xoxo ;)
big influence from green language, because the first Bible was translated by Cyril and Methody into old Ukrainian (this is why our alphabet called cyrillyc). And they includes to translation a lot of greak letters and greak words... so we have a lot of them
This is an awesome video. I knew of words that sounded the same, but I was not aware that there were so many and with a simple change that you describe. ;-) ... I can help my friend In Ukraine learn English a bit better now also. Thank you :-) Are there expressions or idioms in Ukraine like there are in US? For Example T.G.I.F = Thank God Its Friday I have a bone to pick with you = something that you say when you want to talk to someone about something they have done that has annoyed you Don't put all your eggs in one basket = Do not put all your resources in one possibility. Curiosity killed the cat = Being Inquisitive can lead you into an unpleasant situation. Whole nine yards = Everything. All of it. Every cloud has a silver lining = Be optimistic, even difficult times will lead to better days. These are just a few of the many many that we have.
Some of them there are in Russian: Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Не клади все яйца в одну корзину. The translation is the same. Curiosity killed the cat. Любопытной Варваре на базаре нос оторвали. The translation is something like that: Curious Varvara is torn off her nose in a bazzar. Every cloud has a silver lining. Нет худа без добра. The translation is something like that: there is no evil without good.
I’ve just started taking a few Russian and Ukrainian lessons hopefully the hacks help me out, the spelling of the words tho? I have a long road ahead of me
Hi Olia, . Terrific! I just increased my Ukrainian vocabulary by at least 500%! . Are you remodeling your home? Looks like the walls behind you have been stripped and are ready for paint or wall covering. Take care, B
I so want to learn Ukrainian or Russian but don't have the time to go take a course. Self-study is the only way due to time constraints. Would you be able to do a series or point me in the direction of a good language lessons for English speakers? I like the music but like others are saying it does over power your sweet voice.
Thank you so much! This is a big help. It would be even better if there was no background music & you used a microphone. Lots of echo which made it a bit difficult to understand.
Really is it so simple?! You are a Heroe!! I love you!! =) This works with all english words with these terminations? or about 80%-100%? I didn't get very well hack #3.. that works with words with termination "m"? I am sure hack #3 is related to Computation Sciences and Technological Terms
+AleksandrSL No all Latin origin words, I mean just words that finish with "m" and related to Technology and Sciences, for example: electrocardiogram - електрокардіограма problem - проблема encephalogram - енцефалограма diagram - діаграма sum - сума photogram - фотограма
i am pakistani , i know Urdu/Hindi , Panjabi , Arabic because i was born and i was rasied up in kuwait .... i am speaking english right now But man Ukranian is soo weird to me 🙁😟 i wanna learn it !
Trostat haha to the American eye, it does! Actually I think I misspelled it lol. My future sister-in-law goes by Olga but her Ukrainian name is actually Olya.... so I think it's either spelled Оля or Олья?? I'm still learning the Cyrillic alphabet lol. Sadly my Ukrainian fiancé doesn't know much more about reading Ukrainian than I do! 😂 of course he speaks it much better though!
Я думаю, что русски и украински являются очень похожие, но иногда украински в некоторых частях может отличаться от русского довольно много и иногда больше сходный для польский, от которого етот язык получил много общего словарного запаса. И если существует такая разница между этими языками, я обычно думаю, что они классные и заслуживают изучения :) Я говорю на обоих языках и я согласен с тем, что я сказал и другие тоже должны. Но лично для меня, украински было легче учиться чем русски.
Serge, you can stay in Ukraine without a VISA for a maximum of 90 days in a 180 day time span. Then you will need to return to France. The currency rate is 28.5 UAH for 1 Euro.
Thank you. I'm interested in Ukrainian. Do you know any textbooks that are popular in Ukrainian schools to learn the language? Greetings from Spain. 🇪🇺🇪🇦🇺🇦💪
Yes Olga, you should completely avoid music in your videos. Your videos are very informative. But please avoid the music. Secondly, where do I find the list of all words based on your hack tricks. :)
She's bilingual for sure. Trilingual actually since she speaks good English but I wonder what language she knew first. I know that in Ukraine you're exposed to both very early on in life.
+fufnulius Hlousek yeah, I've noticed that. Mostly when Vladimir Putin says "Rassiya" instead of "Rossiya". Trying to figure out which 'o' in a word will sound like an 'a'.
For example in "vsem privet" (hello to all) the "e" is spoken as "ye" as in yellow and in my ears the "v" in vsem is not spoken. It seems that "e" is spoken as "ye" after consonants. Also after mute consonants an "e" is spoken. Football is spoken footeball. Therefore I dare to argue that Russian (like all Slavic languages) is not 100 % phonetic.
You have to learn every word with the stress and remember it. There are some rules, but just a few, generally you just have to memorize the stresses. And in some words the stress tends to move to different places when declinating so it gets quite complicated.
Я не знаю, как это слово пишется по-украински, но по английски - mission, по-русски миссия. Оба случая с двумя "с". Когда учишь английский, тебе точно также говорят, что ты уже знаешь кучу английских слов и приводят в пример те же самые ^_^ Хорошее видео, иностранцам будет полезно!
please, tell me if the most of the ladies in general speak more russian than ukrainian language,cz i am learning russian a little bit,so i wanted to understand what my lovely lady want to say to me, appreciate.
Ohhh, then I'll visit this cities asap as Kiev, Kharkov,Odessa, denepropetrov, lvyv, lugans, vinnitsya, zhaporozie, I think this towns the people speak Ukrainian n Russian language and French also, let me know please, thanks.
It is like in Lithuanian: many -tion words end in -cija. I.E: Information - Informacija. Well, I cannot give more examples, because my Lithuanian is BAD.
The ECHO in all your videos make them difficult to understand. This is on top of your accent. A simple microfone would make this problem go away, and is not prohibitively expensive. Buy one and use it in your future videos, post the cost and I will donate to Paypal to help you pay for it! Just clip it on your blouse and plug it into your Camera's audio jack.
This is so helpful! My boyfriend is Ukrainian and I'm slowly learning it! Your videos are great! :)
thank you!;-)
You are very cute,he is lucky boy.
Thank you Olga, always love to see you
thank you dear Olga, finally i found a real honest decent place to learn about the real life of ukraine and of course about real family oriented ladies who can appreciate a humble real mature man like me, blessings.........

That was awesome !

Thank you For the video
Thank you 😘
Oh my goodness this will make my studying of the ukrainian language a whole lot simpler, thank you!! P.S. can you do more videos like this one?
thank you! So helpful. I watched it with my Ukrainian wife and she was like "так! this is very true."
please Olga tell me where I can find the list of all words ? .....
This video helps a lot. I'm on my way now to learning Ukrainian. I have to get my pronunciation right.
thanks olga iam learning some word but the problem is how do i write
Brilliant!
i understand all of these ukrainian words without english because i am native Polish speaker.
its cool! One more proof our language is very similar;-(
C'mon it's loan words, almost all of them :)
+Stan yes, but it doesnt exclude fact they also make our languages more similar;-)
Well good for you some of us are grandsons of Ukrainian Immigrants Living in Австралія
Olga Reznikova of course, but this particular one isn't a proof, to be perfectly honest :)
Thanks Kevin
This was awesome. The other difference was to move the accent from the first syllable to the second.
Thank you
Hej sokoly motivated me to study Ukrainian, these tips are very helpful, thank you. Ukrainian language to me personally is the most beautiful
Hello miss olga. Please where can we learn russian language in Kharkov? Can you make a video for that?
I now find your new videos very difficult to watch because the music interferes with the sound of your voice...
you can use subtitles
But, there's no option to turn the music off. Trust me, your videos are better without the background music.
What the smart girl!!!
I am a chinese. This is very good It is useful to me
Well done, your background music is perfect!
Olga can you tell me what's the difference between the и and the i?
Thank you
In Russian И = Ы, i = И. You can watch video with Russian alphabet to understand how to read these letters.
QHYUWEISPOJKCNE thank you
You're welcome
however i know the russian alphabet, but not the ukranian one
Jamil Chihneh Ukrainian alphabet is almost the same as Russian. The difference in the couple of letters.
good work
Thanks:)
Do you have a video about how to ask a question in Ukrainian? Or can you?
Good video!!!
Thank you very much for this video Olia!! This information is pretty useful!! I have just some questions to do: What's the relation of ukrainian and latin language? And... What's the influence of greek language to the ukraininan?

yes, we have this kind of idioms, but they sounds different;-) maybe I will share them on my videos;)

she is giving you lessons for free quit complaining!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like a John Mayer backing track lol.

yes true
El idioma ukraniano tiene mucha similitud con el español, genial, más fácil de entender :)
Sí, es cierto que traté de estudiar español y muchas palabras similares y Español idioma muy fácil.
Si algunas palabras son similares como en el Ruso, pero no es igual.
Apparently in Ukrainian g sounds more like h.
In Ukrainian we don’t use the sound G much. There is a Ukrainian G sound though «ґ». So for example “group” in Ukrainian is “hroupa”.
Really is it so simple?! You are a Heroe!! I love you!! =)

+amaromem1 oh really!!! I even didn't notice it before;-)
Olga Reznikova
What thing you didn't notice before Olia? :)
Very good vedio. Please reduce background audio volume.
i am pakistani , i know Urdu/Hindi , Panjabi , Arabic because i was born and i was rasied up in kuwait .... i am speaking english right now
But man Ukranian is soo weird to me 🙁😟 i wanna learn it !
Thanks for your lessons Olga! (Ольга?) I'm in the US & I'm probably gonna marry into a Ukrainian family! 🇺🇦🇺🇸💙💛 💙❤️

As french citizen can i live in Ukraine without problems? What is the equivalence between euro and your local coin?
Thank you very much!

Okay. Thank you very much!
Thank you. I'm interested in Ukrainian. Do you know any textbooks that are popular in Ukrainian schools to learn the language?
Greetings from Spain. 🇪🇺🇪🇦🇺🇦💪
background music is too loud
how come you pronounce your г like an h, for example grandiose. Is this some exception?
no exception, I pronounce it like in all cases
The г is a G in Russian most Ukrainians pronounce the G as an h.
Great. Except all those mentioned words are not Ukrainian neither slavic, but rather borrowed (with foreign origin).
Yes Olga, you should completely avoid music in your videos. Your videos are very informative. But please avoid the music.
Secondly, where do I find the list of all words based on your hack tricks. :)
Is your first language Ukrainian or Russian?
I think she is bilingual
She's bilingual for sure. Trilingual actually since she speaks good English but I wonder what language she knew first. I know that in Ukraine you're exposed to both very early on in life.
+kaiseruhl my native language is only Ukrainian. I know Russian, but I dont use it in life. At least now
Is Russian phonetic?
Yes, the only thing you need to look out for is when an "O" sounds like an "A".
You learn when it happens by experience
+fufnulius Hlousek yeah, I've noticed that. Mostly when Vladimir Putin says "Rassiya" instead of "Rossiya".
Trying to figure out which 'o' in a word will sound like an 'a'.
Stark When it is stressed it's an "O" when it's not it's an "A". But I don't know any rule for when it is stressed or not.

Я думаю, полезное видео даже для украинцев и россиян.
А миссия на украинском правильно написана, а вот на англ. вышла ошибочка
Just like in Polish. Thx 4 the vid!!
Those are Latin words in Latin you pronounce tion like tsion
Anyway I used those tricks, caveat it doesn't work in all cases
It would be better without the music:) thank you for teaching!!!
Algunas palabras en Ruso parece que se pronuncian o suenan casi igual que el Español (castellano) >:v
You are soo beautiful !! :)
please, tell me if the most of the ladies in general speak more russian than ukrainian language,cz i am learning russian a little bit,so i wanted to understand what my lovely lady want to say to me, appreciate.
it depends from region, not woman or man

Found the music so loud that your voice was the background Olga. Music was unnecessary .
yes, sorry
You should not use music in this video because it's language learning video. It's a serious tutorial not funny.
