    HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
    I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

    What a flat out week over this way for me! Good news is the old house sold so the boys and family are all with me again and have moved in full time and the boys absolutely love it here. Just thought I would start clearing some of these bigger pieces from my area and this thing I melt today has been sitting around for awhile so what better way to make room than to melt it and stack it. An extra long one today guys I hope that's not a problem so sit back relax turn your brain off and forget about the worries of the world for half an hour and as always have a happy safe weekend👋🏻
    Oh and be sure to check last week's video for the ring/bracelet voucher giveaway for six random winners👋🏻

I look forward to many more years of videos. Hopefully.

    Awesome video. Can’t believe that you are so faithful to all us viewers. Taking time to satisfy us with the weekly melt during a whole household move. You sir, should pour yourself a medal just for that! I am sure there are a lot of us viewers that can relate to the shake, thump and pour of the boots prior to putting them on. I grew up in rural southwest USA (Arizona) and we did that for scorpions. For my 2 cent opinion, I am going to guess you reach your 1 tonne goal mid to late August 2023.

      Most, if not all heads are aluminum nowadays. A lot of light and medium duty engine blocks are aluminum as well, for a lighter weight engine. Heads can be cast aluminum, but my gut feeling tells me that blocks are forged aluminum to handle the stress.

    27:55 This is fiberglass cloth, and some copper foils from incinerated PCBs (LEDs was mounted on PSBs, what was glued to radiator profile with silicone rubber)
    BTW: LEDs contain golden micro wire, solder contain tin and silver (may be some lead, but is not sure) And all that micro doses of gold, tin and silver now may be in your alu ingots.

    The new place looks like a little bit of heaven compared to the suburbs. What sort of plants were you thinking about chucking in? Some berry bushes or a bit of a mixed garden would fit nicely. (I'm an inveterate gardener, got some peach seedlings and mulberry starts in the basement, just waiting for spring up here in Ohio.) As for melting, I think you should try melting and casting Salt. (If I remember correctly, it melts lower than copper temps, like 1475 degrees Fahrenheit.)

    You're super close to your 1 Ton/1000 KGS target! I really hope you have some epic melt in store to celebrate/push you over that goal!

      I thought a ton was 2000 pounds or just over 900 kg?

    • @TheKidneyStoneMarch
      @TheKidneyStoneMarch ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@awf118 Metric system, mate, all in 10's can't be any simpler. So 1 ton is 1000 kg exact :)
      1 megatonne (Mt)=1 000 000 000 000 g
      1 tonne (t)=1 000 000 g
      1 kilogram (kg)=1 000 g
      1 gram (g)=1 g
      1 milligram (mg)=0.001 g
      1 microgram (µg)=0.000 001 g
      1 nanogram (ng)=0.000 000 001 g

      @@awf118 I'm just going by the numbers in the "target" under the "total weight" at the end, unless a "tonne" is different than a "ton" 🤷‍♂

    Slow clap 👏👏👏you have come along way!! You'd think after so many videos they'd start to get repetitive but they just keep getting better.

    Lovely work. Thank you for enjoying us every Friday. Would you kindly mention the melt point of the metal you cast .

    • @Skorpeonismyrealname
      @Skorpeonismyrealname ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably just doesn't mention due to melting points of metal being quick to look up. But some of the alloys would be fun to know because you want everything to blend nicely, without destroying one and getting chunks of the other.

    Hi D, I'm glad that the boys and the rest of your family are all together now. There were a lot of screws in that light fixture huh? Everything looks great in the new place so far. I'm suprised you haven't replaced the 2 copper pipes in the window of the treasure room door with steel ones yet...ha ha.
    Oh, I'm glad you sold your last house so quickly. Was it on the market for long? Actually I'm suprised at how fast everything's been happening in your life. You accomplish a bunch with each passing week. Amazing. 💙✌️

      Cheers Susie I appreciate it. My last house sold in under two weeks which was good and we got exactly what we were asking so we were very happy with that. The dogs absolutely love the new area which is great and they just can’t get enough of the yards to run in although after about 10 minutes they come back inside and go to sleep for 8 hours🤦🏻‍♂️.

    oh yeh i found a cool trick so brass wont tarnish. after its cleaned up a use fine sandpaper to bright it to a high-grade looking. don't polish it on buffer as the very fine sandpaper will do it for you spray some clear coat spray paint over it and the brass items wont tarnish if out in weather
