    I love your Wednesday sweater. So cute! It doesn’t look like you made any mistakes on the double knitting part but I find for me that it looks much better when you go down a needle size or two from the needle you did your ribbing in. So it ends up being like way smaller a needle than what you knit the body of the sweater in.

    Hi, Chelsea, new subscriber here (found you from a shoutout by Margaret on her Boboleros podcast) and am catching up on your episodes. I’ve been knitting for over fifty years and I can tell you that you’re doing super great for your first year, congrats! Your makes are lovely. Regarding your tubular bind offs on the sweater your wearing in this episode, as you questioned the wonky looking slipped stitches, I may have a tip. I recently did them on the sleeve cuffs of my Big Cozy Cardi, as per pattern, and I felt the same way you did, and wasn’t happy with the look of those slipped sts. On another recent project, the Saturday Shrug, I did them slightly different and like the result much more. Try the following for your next TBOff: rnd 1 setup: sl all K sts wyib and purl the P's, rnd 2 setup: sl all P sts wyif and knit the K's, complete by doing a one needle Kitchener BO. Also, regarding twisted ribbing, as you 'complain' about the pain of purling ttbl, how about knitting ttbl instead, and purling 'regular', that’s what I do and it creates a beautiful rib. Btw, I’m RavelryLisaLisa if you care to look! Happy knitting! Xoxo

Recently divorced a sweater ,pattern didn't work out and that's ok, ripped it. I've knitted socks for a Very long time but toe up & recently changed to shadow wrap heel from earthtonesgirl podcast., carry my wip socks everywhere. .. Love your knits !

    hi - re: picking up sts around armholes and not getting the correct number, i wonder if you do the quadrant/clock method? imagine the arm hole as a clock. and say you need to pick up 68 sts - starting at the bottom of the armhole which is 6 on the clock, then at 12 - or one half the arm hole, you'd need to p/u 34 sts. separating that even further, at 9 (and 3) on the clock, you would need to p/u 17 sts. it's a lot easier to p/u 17 sts at a time, than 68 in one swoop, and a lot less to rip out if you don't make it. hope this helps - and that you didn't know this!
    love a good loop hole! awesome you are working in a yarn shop!

    Thanks for another great podcast episode! That's awesome that you are working at a yarn shop now! I was working at one last year in my hometown (until I moved overseas) and we also had Brooklyn Tweed, Rowan Kidsilk Haze and Felted Tweed, so I loved seeing you get inspired by those yarns! I knit a cardigan with Brooklyn Tweed Shelter + Mohair and it is so lovely and soft! I really like your colour combo of the Woodsmoke + Bark! It's making me want to knit that exact same combination!
    Also, I love the idea of making socks with the Rowan Felted Tweed! I'm trying not to buy more yarn until I knit though some of my stash, 😬 but I think I can justify buying enough to make a pair of socks 😉😄

I was just looking at some Petite Knits patterns and noticed the ribbings look just like yours, so I would say you did it correctly 👍🏼 Beautiful yarny acquisitions 😍 I am worried that your three skeins of DK weight will not be enough for a sweater, with only 690 yards. the Louve sweater by Petite Knit calls for approx 1200 yards. Maybe you could do a striped sweater with your newsprint and townhouse skeins together?. Happy Holidays 💓

  • @aprilg3193
    @aprilg3193 ปีที่แล้ว

    The issue with the armholes you had on your Wednesday sweater with it being hard to pick up stitches on the one side is because of tensioning issues at the beginning/end of rounds. I have the same problem, but have yet to come up with a reasonable solution. For me it always happens on the side where I start knitting on RS and end purling on WS. I notice that my last purl tugs the stitch weird and sort of makes the the stitch from the prior row above it pull close slightly

    Superwash stretches because the scales on the fibers have been removed. Other yarns that have other fibers in it can also stretch, but 100% wool doesn’t grow like superwash. Question, when you did the double knitting section, did you add a second strand of yarn? Double knitting usually involves two strands of yarn using one on the knit side and one for the purl side moving both strands back and forth but only using one of them. Is that what you did?

    • @truelaneknits
      @truelaneknits  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pattern doesn’t say to add another strand of yarn so I didn’t! I just watched the video tutorial she has and they didn’t do that there either. Maybe it’s a variation of double knitting, but it’s just what she calls it in the pattern!

    how many stitches did you cast on for the DK socks? I also do 64 for normal socks and am not sure how many I’ll need for the DK weight ones..
