- Vincent Efferoth and Lukas Passia of Noveltea entered the den seeking an £80,000 investment in return for 5% equity - 'Noveltea' sells their alcohol-infused tea with the tagline "Refreshing, sophisticated and endlessly surprising" but the Dragons are not convinced it's possible to succeed with a brand name like that...
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

Noveltea raised £217,800 through crowdfunding the company is now worth £1.05 million after 1 year. They're stocked across the UK, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and the USA. Well done to these guys.

As I see it, it could be the next "Irish coffee". India and China could be big markets for it.
Stocked in Denmark it's certainly not.
You can even look it up on their website where stores are located across the world. 1 in the US, 1 in Italy, 2 in Switzerland and a few in Austria, the rest is located in Germany and the UK.
So little return from so many countries and when you factor in crowed funding also known as public scamming then that sounds more like next to nothing return if they had invested their own money.

Apparently they're doing alright. Did a really successful crowd funding campaign days after thus was filmed, and later landed a huge deal on the German version of Dragons Den
They're now worth £700K. They're doing very well!

@@Axel3xA Except it doesn't work like that. To get on the Dragon's Den you must first give away a piece of your equity (1-5% iirc) so it's not free advertisement. Too many people were taking advantage and just using it as free advertisement so they had to add those rules in place.

The branding really is the killer. I would actually love to try it, the concept has so much potential, but I think it would literally taste worse just knowing it’s called Noveltea. It’s clever and cute, but that’s all. That name can’t carry anything

It's a real ripoff product as far as I can tell - the spirit in it is usually at least 40% vol so when the product is only 11% they are selling rum or whiskey watered down with tea yet they are charging around 25 quid or more per bottle when for same price you could get a full strength premium spirit and then water it down with your own tea for almost three times the volume. I mean even Baileys is 18% spirit content and only costs around £13 a bottle!
that's the gimmick it seems, your basically paying someone else to do the work for you, though a lot of industries are over-priced for that reasons.
It is a real rip off, since there already is a very similar product called "Tetratea"
