I think you should review something like the heisei gamera trilogy since it's alot less weird than this trilogy and yes I think toho should give mothra a second chance at a solo film
Overall, I enjoyed listening to your impressions of the Mothra Trilogy! I agree with your assessment of this film, especially. I find Mothra 3 to be a pretty strong kaiju film entry because it makes a conscious effort to develop its human characters more (err, the Elias technically). That, combined with the great battles and stirring musical score made it super fulfilling for me.
I finally paid attention to the credits and noticed a name recognized. Atsushi Onita was a wrestler who at the time was considered the father of Japanese hardcore wrestling. He also wrestled in Memphis, TN for a brief period in the 80's.
Of all the post Showa era appearances of King Ghidorah, this movies design for Ghidorah is my favorite, maybe even my favorite design overall, and if this version had King Ghidorah had the wings of Ghidorah 91 from Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, it would be perfect.
@13:47 More than likely given all the homages to other kaiju movies in there. There’s a Giant Claw homage in the movie after Rodan finally shows up after all.

I LOVE this movie easily the best in this Trilogy worth the wait I also really like the little time travel plot where Leo goes back to kill Cretaceous Ghidorah when he was weaker its a trip that he is the reason the Dinosaurs went extinct and Grand King Ghidorah is easily one of my top 3 favorite iterations of Ghidorah and the best part is Armored Mothra going total beast mode and stomps Grand King Ghidorah afterwards going God Mode as Eternal Mothra purifying the Earth an easily Planetary level feat Leo rules and I hate to break it to you feminists Mothra Leo is a dude and he is the most powerful iteration of Mothra ever that doesn’t die either!! This is a important Trilogy it is by no means perfect in fact the little Kennys as you dub them hurt this series as a whole I wish we could’ve got a character like Miki, G-Force, or characters from Godzilla Vs Destoroyah similar to those among the line and another flaw being the most boring entry ROM2 in spite of some of these drawbacks I still appreciate we got a Trilogy where Mothra is the center focus of it and as a Heisei fanboy I am instantly drawn to it and I still wonder of how epik Burning Godzilla vs Armored Mothra Leo would be!!
This Ghidorah is such a badass design. Also, while Cretaceous Ghidorah is kinda generic in terms of design, its fight with Mothra is a bit overlooked, in my opinion. It's the most physical we see a Ghidorah get (actually running, using its tails to attack opponents rather than them just being liabilities to be bitten/grabbed, tearing at Mothra's wings), and the fight is very evenly matched. But what is with these Rebirth of Mothra movies thinking that the hero winning the climactic battle without a scratch is satisfying. I've always said, if they were sports movies, the good guys would win "the big game" 101-0.
About time I got to this one. I have to say, this one has to be the most ambitious of the "Rebirth of Mothra" movies, seeing it was trying to deviate from the first two's environmental messages with its emphasis of time travel. Also as kid friendly as the first two movies were, this one really had some balls to show some blood. Great episode.
So what do you think, should Toho bring Mothra back for another solo movie?

At 13:05 I love how the Trex and Triceratops are just hanging out while that piece of tail burys itself. Like "Huh don't see that every day"
Fun fact: There was a concept for a sequel to Godzilla vs King Ghidorah where Ghidorah came back but was the legit space dragon version similar to this. Would’ve liked that to be honest, with Godzilla the last surviving dinosaur against this version of Ghidorah who ended the dinosaurs.
Metal Mothra... Mothra used Digivolution to evolve into its Mega form
4:35 I think I know maybe the gidorah in rebirth of mothra 3 is a more powerful form of desgidorah so they might be the same kaiju
I think you should review something like the heisei gamera trilogy since it's alot less weird than this trilogy and yes I think toho should give mothra a second chance at a solo film
3:35 - That effect is strangely effective.
Mothra used that hyperspace jump Kamikaze move way before the Disney Star Wars sequels did.
1:53 from the last scene you must mean the Triforce
I finally paid attention to the credits and noticed a name recognized. Atsushi Onita was a wrestler who at the time was considered the father of Japanese hardcore wrestling. He also wrestled in Memphis, TN for a brief period in the 80's.
The dad in this movie is Atsushi Onita former pro wrestler and owner of FMW Frontier martial art wrestling.
Ah sonic CD, takes me back.
Fun fact:
Bagan was gonna be the main villain in the rebirth of mothra series
In the 3rd movie, Rodan replace Bagan but got replace by Grand King Ghidorah
The fourth movie should be Mothra & Larvara vs. Dagahra & Battra
I don't know if this is intentionally but Brandon never call Mothra Leo ,,she" in this (and previous film) , so does Brandon knows that here Mothra is a boy and he's just trolling us?
Here's the weird thing about it though: at the end of the movie, when Mothra transforms into "Eternal Mothra," the prop is built with three claspers like previous Mothras had. Female insects have three claspers; males have one or two.
@@ConstantineFurman im terrified because of that comment who said leo is secretly female
@@zhackiethedogHe's not secretly female. Look at his antennae. His is more "feathery" like, which is how male moths are, while Mothra's antennae are "clubbed" like, like the female moths.
Your videos have been great companions to these films as I make my way through them, the musical gags get me every time!
The first two movies, especially the second, were a little rough but I think this one works as an alright family movie
I've always loved Mothra and when it comes to my favorite kaijus she's one of my favorites.
Ghidorah is a hero, he tried to eliminate all of the Kenny's and Kendra's
Yes.
I love that I actually know the movie you're reviewing next.
I have 3 comments:
"Give her the finger!",
"But I thought (he) died years ago!", and
after all that other fruit, why didn't she bring out a banana?
Great Video!
Yeah all in all the Mothra Trilogy is......interesting to say the least but the 3rd ond is definitley the Best.
I still like them for what they are and i think Bringing her Back Today in a Solo Movie would probably turn Out great if they Do it right but we'll have to wait and see
Wait a second, the dad is Deathmatch Legend and former politician Atsushi Onita!
If there's one thing that we have lost with the phasing out of practical effects, it's how goddam cute and fluffy Mothra is.
4:57 Well, 130 Million Years Ago Is Around The End Of The Jurassic Period, Which Is Kinda Funny Because The Past Form Of 'Ghidorah' Is Actually Called 'Cretaceous Ghidorah'.
I love the dragon ball reference on the thumbnail.
that one Ghidorah had a look like
"Oh shit."
then it explodes
Both Mothra 3 and Godzilla '98 did appear as a poster for the laserdisc release.
Nice video as always! I was wondering if for the eventual next Godzilla video you could review Godzilla against mechagodzilla 2002 or Tokyo sos
10:38 “strike me down zuse! You don’t have the balls. You don’t have the ba-“
these videos give me such joy - thank you Brandon - 🛸👽💚
Fun trivia, Mothra's opponent for this movie was originally going to be Rodan, but Toho once again said "Nah, we need someone more marketable" and replaced him with Grand King Ghidorah.
The twins probably were singing Time After Time to bring Mothra back
Tiiiiii-iiii-iii-iiiiime is on my siiiii-iiiiiide~
Brandon tenold you have been always my number 1 favourite reviewer on TH-cam mostly because of your amazing godzilla reviews this channel is amazing! You should have a million subscribers by this time and to finish your kaiju marathon you should watch the heisei gamera movies heard they are better than heisei Godzilla but as a g fan i don't believe it
Please review Don Knotts is the Love God!!! Keep up the great vids!!
Great Mothra 3 review. Looking forward to your review of Stargrove next. :)
11:15 Please consider reviewing that movie (along with its' two sequels) as well
4:40 Im sure they are both different incarnations if the same Ghidorah
10:00 No no, didn't you see the motions she was making with her sword? The song for the time travel sequence is Shakespeare's Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble.
1:20 Okay, now I want to see the version of Legend of Zelda where Ganondorf gets the Triforce of Love.
Ah, now he can have an army of offspring gerudos.
Funny how Rodan is in the card, as he was suggested for this film, but got voted out by King Ghidorah
2:44 final wars:.....Monster X come over here Boy
I was really exited to see this because iv'e never seen rebirth of mothra 3
Wait so if Mothra killed Ghidorah before he killed the dinosaurs doesn't that mean they never went extinct
DesGidorah probabbly killed them off then
About time I got to this one. I have to say, this one has to be the most ambitious of the "Rebirth of Mothra" movies, seeing it was trying to deviate from the first two's environmental messages with its emphasis of time travel. Also as kid friendly as the first two movies were, this one really had some balls to show some blood. Great episode.
Hey Brandon! Great video! Now that you've reviewed all the Heisei Godzilla and Heisei Mothra films will you please review the Heisei Gamera films!
