Thank you Sam. I was stumped by this today. Just a matter of the gear linkage. Nice starlings meleody in the background. We often have parrots and ravens in the background and trees nearby.

oh can you please let me know whare i can get a gasket and seal set for the complete lower section as i have to check the gears and the impelere so best to replace them while doing this anything i need from the impeller down to seal the unit including the gears seals as well

Hi i have the 50hp engine just changed my impeller following your video simple operation i think following it. But just trying it out and no water coming from the telltale! Well eventually a few spirts then some steam after 20 seconds any ideas ? Thanks. Theres a rubber seal on the water pipe that had slipped up the pipe i slid it off and fitted back onto the pump housing and slid back onto the pipe giving the seal . running great now !all the videos i have watched on this haven't mentioned the rubber seal !
My 2002 nissan tldi has 3 warning lights that flash when i start the motor. It has a new 1000mca battery. Any idea what is going on?
Great video thanks. No gasket on the mating surfaces of the pump? About to tackle this one myself.
There are two gaskets, one between the housing and the pump plate, and one on the other side of the plate between it and the lower unit casting.
If yours is in decent condition you can reuse it, but the water pump repair kit will come with a new cup and plate (both wear items), and gaskets in addition to the new impeller. If you're going through the work to drop the lower unit, you should really use the kit and replace everything while you're there, not just the impeller.
How do u get that roller pin back in ..!
Tried to do it couldn’t remove the drift pin, ended up chewing up one end of the drift pin pretty bad. Off to town to buy a punch set lok
I find it easier to fit the impeller on the shaft and keyway first, then slide the housing over the impeller.
No gasket between lower?
Are your 50hp motor and the 40hp version the same motor right?:)

yes you can
Do you need that marine grease? Is it that important to an old 15 hp 2 stroke from 1981?
I have used normal grease before. Anything is better than nothing.

How's it going people, I just got a boat with a 50hp tohatsu on it, I'm new when it comes to outboards and not sure why the motor does not pee at idle but it pees when throttling up to get on plane. Any help is greatly appreciated
Yeah hi mate I’ve had the same problem with smaller outboards but I have found that it’s usually something clogging up the pipes and so one I wash them out it pees right away, hope this was helpful
@@oliverorth4029 thanks for the input, I dropped the lower unit and found the upper water pump housing was partially melted and clogging on of the passages. I ordered new housing and impeller and hopefully that's all it is.
