I think it was an M8 fibre washer. Have a packet of them.

Just cut the head off a M8 bolt and drilled the centre out.

Why not fill oil through the level-hole?

Due to air lock,this method is way easier

Because it makes more sense to wait for the oil to drip out on the top to make sure that it’s full. It’s also better due to the air inside going out properly.
