Just a small gesture of love brings more to the isolated people than anyone can imagine. I bet they were thinking happy thoughts the whole day long over beautiful Tonka's visit.

Dogs make everything better. I’m currently in self-isolation and my dogs keep my spirits up.
I just lost my son Teddy (Yorkshire Terrier) on March 23rd and his little brother last year March 6, 2019. I miss them everyday. But I do feel they are with me still. I watch the Dodo for peace. The only good thing to come out of all of this quarantine is that I got to spend his last days holding him in my arms. Thank you God.

My neighbor has a white Great Dane. Her name is Porsha. They dress her up as a ghost every year. It's hilarious when people see her. Since they can't see her underneath the costume... they all assume she's a pony foal.

Maybe ask the staff to raise the blinds when you visit, makes it easier for the older folks to see the dog.

@@HK-uj9qc at 2:16 she says "look they opened the blinds" and they were opened. They also opened the blind to put the sign in the window from the person inside of the home (I believe around 1:42)
People - and dogs - like this reaffirm my belief in human beings as kind and generous.
It's nice to see some positivity for once in the comparisons of humans with animals. Every time different species play with each other it's always "if only humans could learn from them". But would those animals have the opportunity to get along if they weren't united by our taming and artificial sele ction?

I work at a nursing home and family and friends can’t even visit so we setup a skype station so they can talk and see each other whenever they feel the need. It’s not the same but they still feel somewhat connected.
It's so wonderful to see dogs brighten these seniors' day. Stay strong everyone!

@@southorse in america we have these toys called tonka trucks (they're big yellow construction-type trucks you can play with) and since tonka is huge, i'm guessing that was their inspiration :)
Dogs are truly a gift from god. I feel his love from my beloved three dogs. They help me so much in these dark times.

Yes. My dogs all passed years ago now I have a crazy cat who found me as a kitten. Luv that crazy guy.👍

This made me cry 🥺 I love visiting nursing homes most of the elderly don't have anyone and I'm very happy I get to visit when I can.

When my Grandmother was in a nursing home one of her greatest joys was seeing the visiting therapy Dog... That is God's work right there...

During school, I was assigned to go off campus to a senior center to interact with the old folks every Friday for 6 weeks. It was the best job in the world. The staff and the folks all loved how charming I was to them. I still want to go back there and visit.

If you have transportation and are able to continue to go, pls volunteer and continue to do that work as you are probably the only person some of them see, outside of the staff. So, you may have been their only bright light, their only reason to dress up, the only person to share stories/conversation with, the only person/thing to look forward to which aides in the reduction of depression. Very good thing you were doing and prob dont realize how much you really meant to some of these folks. 🤩
@@melaniesbuchanan1759 I already knew because one of my school's teachers told me that they were asking where I was. That broke my heart a little. But my 6 weeks were up and I had to do a new off campus job. I still miss them.

Normally I’m fearful of large dogs, however I know from experience that Great Danes are just gentle giants. Thank you for bringing Tonka to visit the residents, I know they appreciated the kindness and compassion that both of you gave them.

I have a service dog and he is pretty amazing but I have mad respect for therapy dogs. They need special dogs to be therapy dogs and they make such a big difference in a lot of people's lives whereas Damian just helps me and my family.
Every home should get visits by dogs, people and the animals love it.

I've had mental health issues an serious depression for a long long time. I recently bought a puppy an it's crazy how much they make you feel warm an wanting to love again! Dogs are very special 🙂

This is the greatest idea! Seniors are so isolated right now and it is good for them to see that their friends are ok (puppy or human)!
