How To Properly Use Your Max A/C Recirculate Button Are You Using It Wrong?

There Has been a long time to be going on about the proper use of your air-conditioning systems maximum air/recirculation button. Some people believe that it affects fuel mileage While others have a dozen different reasons to use it or not use it. Here are some facts about this button and how to use it.

Mine definitely comes through cooler in recirculated mode.
Same buttons too because I have a beetle
It’s been hot over here this past week so when I’ve been out I’ve been using the ac, I’d sooner put more fuel in than drive around in discomfort
It might use a little more fuel but nothing to be worried about or being sat in a sweat box feeling stressed out when sat in traffic

you can use the recirc button as much as you want. It causes your car ac to work like your homes ac, it recirculates the interior air, that is all it does. Doesnt make your AC work harder, actually after a few minutes, it makes the AC not work as hard.

I thought max ac might of done other things like run the condenser fan longer or engage the compressor longer than usual. I've used the recirc button forever. Why even have the max ac?

Have MAX & recirc buttons. Recirc does not light up when i hit max.
Hard to switch from AC to heat and heat to AC.
FAN setting doesn't show & max full blasts. Too dangerous trying to set stuff while driving.

2017 Tacoma: What if it has recirculated button and max AC? What functions do each have?

They both do the same thing. If you set it to max, it recirculates interior air and closes off the outside. If you push the recirculate it also does that. But, if you push the recirculate in a position such as heat, it may also close that door and recirculate the interior air.We say may because some positions lock out the recirculate position so the windows don’t fog up. If they do, turn it off. Thanks for watching.

Mine blows cold then I put it on a/c max and it goes warm turn it back to normal and it gets cold again.

your ac compressor actually cycles based on the pressures in the system, not the temp outside or inside the cabin. cars are not air tight so the idea that using the recirc button will cause stale air syndrome, as stated on other posts, not yours, is absolute bunk.

Just put a window down ever now and then to keep oxygen levels decente and co2 low insides.

You should charge that customer extra for having such a filthy car! It's Volkswagen so I'm sure the owner absolutely hates it But the car has plenty of time to look like that When it's sitting in the junkyard waiting to meet the crusher ( Which will more likely be sooner than later)).
