I do appreciate your "dumbing it down" here. I tend to want to plunge deep too soon & I always miss important details about basic functionality &, of course, many other details about deeper features as a result of that shaky foundation. I also notice that it often happens that, when showing off deeper features, demonstrators often skip more basic things that are necessary to access that particular function & I'm left frustrated, scratching my head, or worse... ;-) so your efforts, in general, are greatly appreciated. but your willingness to sacrifice style & flash, in this particular video, in exchange for thoroughness & guaranteed comprehension... well, sir... you've taken great care, & I can't thank you enough for that. so, bravo!!
Thank you!! Excellent job of explaining this unit. I just got mine and this is the best tutorial that I've come across. I'm on version 3.1.4 but everything here applies.
Definitely appreciate the overview. Just got my Deluge yesterday, and while Im a little familiar with grid systems, its nice to be able to just watch a few overview videos specific to the Deluge to wrap my head around its workflow before really diving in.
Great tutorial, great device. So many out there but this one is realy something special. This will be christmas gift, from me to me ;) This is one of the piece that i need, i do not want to jump from one keyboard to another even if i like to play and put the fingers on the keys . I need after i played what i need for the song and put it into Deluga, place where i can sit and in peace put it all together step by step how i like it. I need the central piece of all gears, the brain. Deluga brain. Great Thx
@@daddylongles Hi sorry to bother you ,but do you know how to export a song on the deluge to make a music mp3 file? I have no clue if this is even possible.. Thanks jim
Try this. Load a song etc. | Press RECORD + PLAY - Record button will flash | Deluge will start to play and the output will also start to record.| Press RECORD + PLAY again to stop recording. The resulting file will be on your SD card in the Deluge. Hope this helps. Les
Thanks for a really useful video as a first time deluge user. Just for interest 'track' has become 'clip' on the more recent version though it makes no difference to the work flow as far as I can see (as a beginner).
This one of the best tutorials around the internet on the deluge. Because you are fun of korg gadget. Has you ever connect the two deluge controlling gadgets? Or sending sounds from gadget to deluge for example multi sample patches to create instruments into deluge with the fantastic sounds from gadget collection?
Anybody know how to record the Deluge on video without it flashing on camera? I tried changing the video frame rate on the camera but it still flashes.
Hi mate, Nice Video! Do you think this is a good machine? How is it when you want to export your song to mix and master? Or can you mix on the actual machine with the built in EQ etc
It's a great device. You can do rudimentary mixing and mastering on the machine. I tend to dump the individual tracks into Reason to mix and add effects.
Out of all the basics tutorials, this is the one I saved

Thank you! Yes - I'm just the same. I'm currently working through the version 3 enhancements and will do a new video fairly soon. Watch this space!!
@@daddylongles I will most certainly be on the lookout. thanks kindly, les.
@@daddylongles hello! Are you still thinking of covering version 3? If yes, you might as well wait for 3.2, I hear it's close 😎

Very useful for the complete novice to this, like myself! Wonderful machine. 😊

Your outstanding didactic skills make this the very best beginner’s tutorial for the Deluge on TH-cam. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks. Thinking of getting the Deluge and this really helps to get an idea of the work flow.
Thanks Les. A good introduction. Helpful to have some solid building blocks in place
Was looking for something like this to get me up to speed on the thing. Thank you.
My pleasure!
Fantastic video. I've had a Deluge for a while, and wish I had been able to see this series when I first opened the box.
Thanks Bob. My pleasure!
Created my first track, by following this amazing video. Danke and Toda Raba

This is the best tutorial I have seen on this instrument. Great work.
Finally, I finaly understand how the Deluge works, thanks soo much!
Thanks for the video!! Really helped me start and get going with the deluge (after having it in the box for weeks..)
Thanks for a great Tutorial! I am sure your students really enjoyed the time with you and learnt a ton.
You're very welcome!
Thank you SO much.. I’m gonna order mine w the white overlay to make the short cuts easier to see
Thanks for dumbing it down. I've had this machine for a year and barely pick it up as just haven't understood it.
Will give it another go.
It is complicated, I've had it just one day and each time I have a go my questions multiply.
For a synth noob like me dumbing it down is really great! Thanx!
Thanks for the comprehensive tutorial!
Thank you so much for the thorough tutorial! Great starting point
Glad it was helpful!
Many thanks for this vid...I did read the manual but I got lost.......up to now on all my searches your vid is the best explained....jim

It's funny. I was looking at my Deluge only the other day thinking that I ought to update my tutorials. Watch this space!!!

This is great! thank you :D
is swing only available on a global level, or can it be per track?
On mine delivered this week the Track button is labelled Clip.
Yeah they updated their terminology recently
@@ejjes Makes the manual harder.
Does it only have 16 steps per part?
No, you can keep doubling this!
Cheers bro!
No problem 👍
Does the labels on it go off easily or you just heavily used it ?
Yes, they do seem to wear off rather quickly!
NOT to simple, just right for this 75 year old total noob! I know nothing and want to learn EVERYTHING😃😃😃😃
That's great!! I hope you enjoy this amazing device!
