As a guitar player...I primarily use the isomorphic keyboard to make up melodies. Glad you're enjoying the Deluge!

Great overview and description of the isomorphic keyboard, thank you! I'm new to the Deluge and this video was perfect.

Well, thanks for this! I've had mine for two years and never knew I could select the root note that way. Boom!

Isomorphic is also used by the Launchpad and the Linnstrument. It's a great layout.

The Akai Force also a has an isomorphic keyboard layout option. For someone who’s played regular keyboards for 40 years, it take’s getting used to. Once you do, though, it’s phenomenal! You can easily play phrases and chords that are much harder to articulate on a linear keyboard.

Yeah, I absolutely love it. I'm not necessarily a pianist or a bassist/guitarist, but I have enough knowledge that the keyboard feels like a really good gap between the two. Thanks for watching!

Thanks a lot for this great overview! Do you reckon there is a workaround for splitting the keyboard view to 2 instruments? How about layering two sounds and playing them simultaneously on the keyboard view?
    Thanks for your great work!

Thanks for the thoughts and insight! The explanation and demo were great - definitely makes me want to get more familiar with these kinds of keyboards. Also, in case someone's curious, there are at least two other devices I know of that can handle this kind of layout: the LinnStrument (by the great Roger Linn) , and the Novation Launchpad (though it takes a little bit of digging to enable it).

That was a nice video. I'm a little disillusioned with synths at the moment so it's good to see someone really enjoying them :)

Hello there! Great video. Got my deluge not too long ago too and seing how you progress with it's learning makes me want to do so too. I do hope to see the "How to Sync(something) with Deluge" video in the future too! Because it is something I can't wrap my head around at the moment. Have a Microfreak and NTS-1 all thanks to your channel. And I want to hook them all up together! Just dunno how. Good luck in learning this incredible powerhouse of a machine! It definitely goes well with your channel theme.

Wow, what a great video! I've had the Deluge for years but never really understood the keyboard (though I still use it by only playing the lit buttons lol)

This is very cool. Out of curiosity, is it possible to switch it to fifth spacing instead of fourths? That would match violin/cello tuning.

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

As far as I know it's not possible, but since drum seems to have hidden every feature possible in this thing, so I wouldn't be surprised if they sneak it in there haha. Thanks for watching!

    • @KlausWeidner

@@FreeBeat I guess this would be a rather niche feature, there likely isn't all that much overlap between cello players and sequencer enthusiasts.

So regarding flicker: your video is running at 60fps here, do you need that? If you record at 30fps you can actually set your shutter speed to 1/30 and you'll have less of an issue with flicker (the longer the shutter speed, the less chance of flicker basically). 1/30 might lead to too much motion blur when you move your hands quickly, but you can experiment with that (and try 1/50 or similar). I doubt it would matter and it certainly beats having to worry about flicker.

Synthstrom has actually included a feature on the deluge to change the refresh rate of the pads, super cool!

Interesting. I'm constantly watching videos on the Deluge and as intriguing as I find them, there is something about it that I know I'm not going to gel with.
Side note: I think the way that works is similar to what happens with the Ableton Push 2.

It gets much easier if you've ever played the guitar or bass, but you can also plug in a traditional MIDI keyboard :) Thanks for watching!

Shoot at 24p and set your shutter to 1/50. That should solve almost all of your flicker problems.

Synthstrom has actually included a feature on the deluge that let's change the refresh rate of the pads :) it looks a lot better on camera now
