Your patches are amazing. I also have used your stuff for the Prophet Rev2. Thank you for making such incredible sounds. A friend from my Patreon community recommended BoD7 so I'm looking forward to picking that one up!
@@Synth-PatchesCom Love you patches and frequently just watch your videos just to listen to the music. Like Jay, Thank you for your work, next to Jexus, your a fantastic sound designer.
The deluge keeps going from strength to strength and it's all down to the amazing community Devs who do an unbelievable job adding amazing new features. 💪
Like you I bloody missed mine when I thought to sell it last year. It was even returned once.. I nearly delisted it. But yeah my original oled deli sold. Now I've another and am about to go oled with it. So glad to have it back. You should do the audio input oscillator thing (sing etc)... So cool. Looking fwd to listening in a bit sat here in the windy wilds of Scotland in a motorhome!
Awesome as always and yes defo BoC vibe coming through. Always thought the deluge would be a nice instrument to own but to date....... Nice track and that synth sound oh yes.
Alright I got myself a new Deluge after watching this (I’m holding you personally responsible 😏) and it’s truly fantastic. While I now definitely know better how to make synths sound the way I like than when I last owned a Deluge, I don’t think I would have ever gelled with this thing if either the OLED or grid view were missing. In its current iteration it’s a beast both control and soundwise, and only getting better with continuing community firmware updates
I know of Chroma Console, never heard of the other two (Deluge, Zeptocade) which makes me wonder if there is any music gear that Mr. Hosking does not have? In my experience, I can "master" only about 20% of the functionality of any gear I own, so I find it almost an inhumane skill to be able to get so much out of literaly every- and anything and Mr. Hosking just does it each and every time. It's unbelievable, it's amazing.
That zeptocore is an absolute unit 😎 Had not seen clip mode on the Deluge, that seems extremely useful Edit: I’m just now reading the description. I got rid of the Deluge probably for some of the same reasons. The device always physically felt great in my hands, but I didn’t like the sound of the internal synths or effects. Having that clip-mode on top of the grid sequencer is definitely a powerful combination and I’m still looking for the sequencer that fits me best. I guess I’ll check out how far the community firmware has come soundwise 🙏🏻
I was floored by how much grid mode changed it for me, especially when you combine it with sequences that can be as long as you want. That said, I do like the synths, so it's an easier sell to get me back on board. It's an impressive update!
@@JayHosking That’s a good point, 64 steps and no clip mode (Elektron, Torso T-1) feels really constricting to me, especially as I usually work in 8 bar loops - and I’m not getting a Digitakt 2 just for the 128 steps. I’ll have to look into the sampling too, if it can replace what the Blackbox does for me currently it might be worth the switch. I’m mostly leaning on external synths for melodics anyway Either way a video that makes me think, thanks for the update 🙏🏻
if you have external gear, the deluge is an absolute powerhouse. you can make interesting stuff with your dedicated hardware then use the deluge synths and kits to fill in the gaps
@@JayHosking Okay I spent a few hours last night digging through the community firmware github and these updates are just absolutely bonkers in every department. There's so many fundamental improvements that I won't try to fit all that I'm excited about into a youtube comment. Besides fixing basically all things that made it unusable for me (lack of parameter feedback and control in many areas,) the new effects give it a whole new sonic capability, grid mode gives it a whole new workflow capability and is the only one that makes sense for a live performance-based setup, the modulation and automation system is just mad and more powerful than anything I've seen in a hardware box. I think it can replace my Torso T-1, my BlackBox, and overlap so much with my Syntakt that I can downgrade it to a compact synth. Truly an impressive effort overall
@@JayHosking Ugh looks like my comments are getting filtered. TL;DR: I checked the firmware page and it’s really really really amazing - there’s a good chance I’m rebuilding my setup around a Deluge
Not yet. I tend to struggle a bit with making FM engines fit my sound preferences, but I'm excited to try them nevertheless. The Deluge has come so far since I last touched it, and I'm really smitten with it again. And thanks!
Holding one of the clip-launching buttons on the right, you can twist one of the black knobs (don't have it with me, so I can't check, sorry) and change it from infinite repeats to a finite number of repeats! So much in this thing that it's easy to not know all the features. And thanks!
@@JayHosking damn, yours definitely works better than my zeptopcore. The timing is always a little late, sloppy, etc. never seems to hit right on the one. Maybe I need to use a different SD card, or maybe I got a defective unit. I spoke with him about it a while back, but I chalked it mostly up to user error at the time, because I hadn't fully mastered it. Sick jam btw!
@@Ancaja123 As a matter of fact, mine was always a little late, too! I slid it forward a little in the recording. I've been speaking to him about it as well. I've also written about my challenges with it a bunch on Elektronauts, if you ever visit there. So you're not alone! I just really love the sound and wanted to use it here.
While we're on the topic, I actually think that maybe using USB Midi has less latency, but I don't have a hardware device that sends out usb MIDI, just my computer, and when introducing a computer there's always going to be latency when recording audio so I never got anywhere with testing it that way, it just seemed a bit better. There is also the IttyBittyMIDI kit, so maybe that would work better too. But I would always prefer to work with analog clock. I will say it syncs with the Pocket Operators perfectly, but that is when it's sending clock to the PO, not the other way around.
In the description. It's like a little sbc drum synth that you can buy then diy build around with box with arcade buttons. There's a yt guide vid. Pretty cool

FANTASTIC minimalistic performance 💛

I like the Boards of Canada vibe. Well done!
wonderful mix of crunchy stuttery rhythms mixed with the nostalgic BoC synth sounds!
Wow, saving this for dissection later. I absolutely adore my Deluge and it's so deep.
Wow, instant BoC feeling at 0:51, well done! 🤩
Hit "affect entire" in song mode and work those FX. Hold individual track in song mode to apply live FX only to that track
Nice track!
The community firmware for the Deluge makes it amazing - Grid View feels like this is how the Deluge should have always worked.
GREAT job! That Infinitedigits Zeptocore/Zeptocade seems to be pretty cool.
Beautiful work
Excellent performance Jay
Oh Yeah ! This is classic Hosking ! Bliss and Amazement incoming ! 😎
Awesome work, listened to your other tracks as well, subbed!
Straight up bad ass. Well done!
Excellent, I love the glitch and stutters on this one.
Oh man. I played with the Zeptocade at knobcon. So much fun.
amazing industrial sound i rarely see this type of sound on dawless setup. high risk high reward !
Love this crunchy goodness!
