      Thomas DeLauer, pls share your thoughts. Wouldn't Fish Oil for Omega 3 supplementation at night interfere with sleep cycle in some form since it contains a lot of Vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 triggers certain brain actions chemically/Hormonally that mimics sunlight or day cycle that are associated with circadian cycle. I think its best to load up on Vitamin D3 in the afternoon meal.
      BTW, great video again 👍
      Edit: Aha.. I remember Thomas recommending not to take D3 at night in this video.

    When I started working out, my two main mistakes were lack of sleep and not eating enough (not being in a caloric surplus). I always thought I was eating enough and was disappointed because my weight stagnated. Then I got my first diet plan created (I think it was from website dietarize). I realised that my previous food intake was way below my needs, although I thought I'm good. At the beginning it was hard to eat 3500 kcal in a day, but I got used to it. I started noticing real gains, and it felt amazing. I wish I'd understood the importance of diet earlier.

    You guys should be thankful that you can actually do something about your sleep. Watching videos like this is super helpful. There are people out there like me who suffer from Tourette's Syndrome and Schizophrenia that make sleep very difficult if not impossible to come by. People like me are the very small part of the population that actually need prescriptions like Ambien (and in my case psych meds) to fall asleep.
    Thank you Thomas for your videos, you are tremendously helpful and a great teacher.

I'm also taking my omegas and b12 in the morning I'm sleeping so much better, I'm going through perimenopause and have anemia I'm working on that to, that also can cause lack of sleep.

      You need to take EGCg (green tea extract) for the 5-HTP to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Without the EGCg it won’t cross the BBB and it is placebo at that point.

      @PalinaZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fish oil doesn't contain any D3. What you mean is cod liver oil. But even a tablespoon of code liver oil gives you little D3, definitely not enough to interrupt sleep as long as you are not hyper sensitive

    • @RubenSingh
      @RubenSingh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@PalinaZ To say, "Fish Oil doesn't contain any D3," is misleading. Cod is a fish, sardine is a fish, and their oil contains a good amount of D3 if one considers RDA. I understand some fish oils are not as potent in D3 as Cod Liver Oil, but @Thomas DeLauer does not mention any specific fish oils, therefore one can start taking Cod Liver "Fish" oil at night. Even 1 tbsp of Cod Liver Oil equals 300% DV.
      Besides fish oils, Thomas recommends eating fish.. for dinner instead red meat. Almost every fish has good amount of D3, just to make a point. I know this sounds a bit extreme diet tuning.
      Anyway, enough typing for me, getting tired now. Thnks for the reply, it's late and I stayed away from Fish oils to have a good sleep. 🤣

    • @DanCantStandYA
      @DanCantStandYA 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. I agree with your points. However from watching Dr. Berg as well, i think D3 at night is fine. It may lessen rem sleep but may increase the other forms of sleep. I work at a health food store and used to tell people to consider not taking it at night

    • @RubenSingh
      @RubenSingh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DanCantStandYA I understand, but if the topic is to nitpick foods for better sleep (eat fish for dinner but not red meat, etc.) then fish or fish oils should be avoided, considering Vit D3 impact on deeper sleep. Not enough D3 in our diet will interfere in achieving deep sleeps, so why not load up all the D3 during the day time while the sun is up, and be synchronized with circadian cycle/rhythm. After all, we are nitpicking or micro tuning our diets for better sleep in this video.

So the concentrate would be the much better option to replicate the method used in the study. What's interesting is that the participants consumed it both in the morning and before bedtime, wonder which one of those doses that had most effect on sleep quality and melatonin levels. Anyhow, 14g of carbs per serving and 55 GI would probably not kick someone out of ketosis, depending on activity level and how deep into ketosis someone is.

    Thank you bro, I am grateful for your content! Have you come across boiling bananas to make a banana tea? I'd appreciate any knowledge you have to share. And as far as milk, will any type of milk be fine or only certain ones?

      I have heard of the boiling banana from a Dr on Facebook. I tried it once and felt it didn't work..I have also tried taking zinc and magnesium and 5 htp vitamin before bed and that seems to work. I have only done it twice.

    I am a horrible sleeper. There are usually two days a week that I don't go to bed at all. If I sleep, I have taken my ZZZQuill and Magnesium but still get up every hour. I was in the hospital for a week with Covid Pneumonia and they gave me Meletonin. I was hallucinating and wondering why they were constantly yelling at me to stay in bed and put an alarm on me and a camera.
    I have a sleep study at the end of the month.
