- Got a request to voice this stellar Spider-Man fan comic by Meg Syv aka @BluDragonGal on Twitter!
I love this comic for a plethora of reasons, but most of all I like that it highlights something that I feel Spider-Man comics have been missing as of late: Spidey's vigilantism.
He's not a friend of the cops, and he's in no way a police officer himself. Peter Parker fights injustice in all forms - especially when it's an authority figure flexing their power over the little guy.
Always remember: Superheroes are inherently anti establishment.
I do love Marvel, but I wish they'd remember that from time to time. "Spider Cop" is about as far from Spidey's character as you can get.

Funny thing is, in the Marvel universe most cops love Spider-Man so if a cop has a bad story with him, many assume he must be a bad cop.
In the OG Stan-Ditko comics, it was the citizenry who would turn on Spidey at the drop of a dime, not Cops. Cops were usually shown as having a better opinion of him, because they saw his work first-hand, and only going after him out of protocol and orders. Heck, when Rhino debuts, the only reason Spidey didn't stomped to death, was a pretty brave cop moving him out of the way.
And there's Jean DeWolff, who was the cop who loved Spider-Man the most (as in she loved *loved* him), but never showed it, by the time Peter knew, it was too late.
Yeah, but keep in mind that in the OG Steve Ditko era, there still was the Comics Code Authority, which prohibited depicting police and government in the slightest negative manner (I know, insane). So, if Spidey was the hero, then the cops needed to be on his side so there would not be any stories regarding any bad nor corrupt cops.
You sure that's true I just read the story where part of the police department set Peter up so really?
credit to spidey, he flipped over the car while leaving it mostly intact
That seems like a very Spidey thing to do.

Its call law enforcement for a reason. Enforcing the law often inconveniences people who aren't familiar with them. It seems stupid, but theres a reasoning behind it.
@Dark Energy Except many times cops get people in trouble for things that they didn’t do or crimes that are completely retarded (like loitering), and completely ignore serious offenders. "viglante justice" in a legal sense means "takeing the law into your own hands" for example if you grabbed a base ball bat and attacked a known criminal qnd your motivation was that's he's a criminal you'd be charged for "vigilante justice"

For the modern connotation of someone who enforces the Law without legal authority, we use the word "Justiceiro". Even funnier fact, is that "The Punisher" got translated into "O Justiceiro" here, because of that, even through the literal translation is "Punidor", which would have worked perfectly and comes from the same latin root word.

It's basically gone from one extreme to the other. I honestly liked it better than the ethos was somewhere in the middle. The general ethos of superheroes like Spider-Man during a long period of time was "I don't really like cops because I can do their job better than them, and they're controlled by higher ups who can be corrupt, but I still respect the office on the street"--which just makes the most sense for superheroes, since they more or less, for all intent and purpose, ARE cops, just very privatized ones. This trend of making superheroes actively hate cops is moronic. It makes sense for average joe Smith to hate cops, but it literally makes zero sense for a superhero like Spider-Man to hate cops, when they're doing the exact same thing in their day to the day lives, just one is totally privatized and the other isn't. Spider-Man’s had so many versions of his story told on how society sees him some times he’s beloved and most of the time hated but god damn give this man a break he’ll never be with mj because the writers hate it and he’ll never know peace and love outside of aunt may who also dies a bunch
Nah he actually got a pretty good deal in the comics from the late 90s through to Avengers Dissassembled
oh for god's sake, shut up about MJ already.
I remember the rumor that everyone gets one non-cannon Spider-Man story. Supposedly something Stan Lee said decades ago
Awesome work yet again
Spiderman if he was based
This doesn't sound like something spidey would do. Escalating things like this seems just ill intentioned.
Definitely not in character. He is the type that tried to deascalate a situation before being forced to deascalate if no other option is available.
He would try to talk the officer down way before doing something stupid like this. And even then, he would likely give the man a sympathetic nod and leave rather than escalate it to this degree.
it's a fan comic, it's by definition not in character
and what, you never heard of What Ifs?
I want go see a menace Spider-Man. And I don't mean like how he was with the venom symbiote, but shinnenigans like this!
Honestly, some cops think they are above the law.
Saving a citizen from getting a bull ticket. True hero.
Honestly, we need more moments like this in comics.
Tell me you’ve only ever played the PS5 game without telling me you’ve only ever played the PS5 game:
This comic came out in like 2018 :3
@@SynthVoice Then its just not cacon spidey.
@@pewpew7311 The person who made this comic is working on Spider-Man Freshman year :3
One of the most heroic acts ever 🤣 hell yea spidey!
Spider-punk would be proud
uwu softboi Peter's a curse. I miss when Peter was running on a minimum 20% of petty spite at all times.
Exactly. Peter constantly being a sarcastic, snarky gremlin is a major part of his character. It's why people like him.
He's a good guy and he helps people, but that doesn't mean he isn't also a total troll.
@@mr.kittysavestheworld695That’s one thing I love about Ultimate Spider-Man. Say what you will about Bendis’ general lack of creative talent for the rest of the Ultimates and comics at large, but he got that part of Peter right to a T.
Honestly, I think that’s one of the few failures Insomniac Spider-Man has as well. As Peter, he’s way too spineless imo, constantly bending whenever anyone says the slightest mean word.
True, TAS spiderman basically bullied Brock into becoming a villain
@@wesleygriffiths8748ultimate Pete has and always will be my favorite interpretation easily
"Is that your car?"
"...Ya?"
"I'm gunna go flip it."
" DON'CHU DO IT!"
Spider-Man being Chaotic Good alignment.
I like this. Thank you
"Hey officer! Is this your car? Im gonna flip it over."
Officer: "I- Thanks for asking but dont flip it."
Spidey: "Flip it?"
Officer: "No."
Spidey: "No, its not your car or no, dont flip it?"
Officer: "No. Dont flip it."
Spidey: "No. Dont. Double negative makes a positive! Thanks sir!"
*flips car and swings away*
This is criminally underrated
@@chibiusa2018 whats underrated? My bullshit thought of what happened or the video itself?
@@NoBloons yes
This is both in character and a reason Jamison has to think Spider-Man’s a menace, really wish their was more stuff like this in comics
Curious, what precedent would suggest that this is in character?
Spidey helps out the little guy and is routinely harassed by cops.
Of course he'd step in to help out a pedestrian being hassled for no reason.
It's not even close to in character.
Venom would do this though
@@themindeclectic9821 honestly I say it's in character, getting hauled for something as simple as loitering is annoying and bullcrap, he's done much more petty things if I'm being honest.
@@suohd.sunking6964 more petty? Yes. Destructive for the sake of pettiness? No. More in character would be asking the cop for directions relentlessly while the guy leaves. This is something Venom would do though
Peter put that officer in his place...
bro actually flipped it
no scratches, no damages, bro just gently put it on the ground and swung away
This reminds me of Action Comics #1
That car belonged to kidnappers in progress though
@@JaelinBezel ik but usually when the cover is referenced they act as if the people in the car are being saved
Like in the opening for Powerless and in Superman & Lois' adaptation
Finally! I've been waiting for someone to do something on Web-Man!
“Mr. Jameson he flipped over a cops car!”
“…I’ll allow it.”
He's not a menace, he's everyone's hero
The amount of idiots that think all cops are evil or something. It'd be funny if it wasn't sad
the amount of people who blatantly don't care about the "with great power comes great responsibility" line, aka his core trait, and think spiderman should just go after anyone he doesn't like/revenge is also laughable
@@christopherauzenne5023 these people would a 100% abuse Powers if they have them. Literally they would be super villains
Because they are. Back the Blue 'til it happens to you.
@@luminusprime spoken like someone truly ignorant.
I need this spidey to meet daredevil
The chillest spiderman ever
Plot Twist: The cop was on Kingpin's payroll.
Honestly I could see Spider-Man doing this not necessarily all versions of Spider-Man but some
After all like you said he's a vigilante he fights crime and Injustice no matter what it's shape or form
So I would definitely love to see Spider-Man point out and fight against the injustices of the police
Especially since unlike a bunch of the other criminals he wouldn't actually hurt anybody he would just protest through a little collateral damage with as few people hurt as possible
Not the most conventional Spider-Man but I would love to see it and maybe they could work up to it at first he's not like this he only fights crime but after being called a menace a few times and treated bad he decides to also address with the other people are doing bad and address what everyone's doing bad since everybody seems to want to point fingers
