Halsin's is the MOST realistic direction because of the in-between sighs and brow raises... And there is nothing hotter than the archdruid NOT being able to contain the ABILITY he has controlled for 350 years. Hot AF!
Karlach and Shadowheart would work, given that Shadowheart's actor is lesbian abd Karlach's actor said they decided to act the romance scenes saphic rather than catering to the straight male gaze.
God, I am in love with Tim Downie's voice so much❤❤❤ well, ALL these actors are BRILLIANT!!! thanks A LOT for the interview, Dan!! 🫶🫶🫶 Super happy that BG3 won GOTY!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I had to think Tim Downie's portion of the interview during my Gale-Origin play-through at the start of Act3, when in very close proximity Halsin, Mizora, the Emperor and the Drow twins were hitting on poor Gale, while all he really wanted to do was to help his friends with their various issues and solve some murders. A lot of romance that he didn't ask for indeed. 😄
From this short compilation alone you can totally get the depth in each character and how the different actors felt connected to it and enjoyed portraying them. This is truly a special game in this regard. During my playthrough I actually feel different connections to the different characters in particular ways, it's uncanny. Even the actors in all your interviews I feel they are so much more forthcoming and passionate about telling their experiences than any other game or movie or TV show. Feels like truly this project brought out so much genuine and true passionate stuff from everyone :) I just hope more publishers and studios recognize this style of making videogames is totally legitimate and will bring people to spend money on it - not just an abundance of microtransactions of hype.
The romances are so wonderful! All the dialogues. I never saw this much appreciation for the player character written - and spoken awesomely! - in a game story.
This must be so special for them. After so much work put into this MASSIVE game with 17,000 different endings, now they get to relax and be praised for their EPIC PERFORMANCES
Andrew and Scott really brought something classy and powerful to their characters. I do hope that they'll get even more attention in any future BG content
Not going to lie, this one of the only games that I go my way to see the interviews of the VA’s and see their videos on social media because of how real the characters feel due to their marvelous job at bringing them to life.
If we do end up getting a "director's cut" version of the game with new scenes, I demand that we have a scenario with Mizora raising her thumb saying "Thumbs up.. very classy." 😂😂😂
All of the actors are great, i must say to the romance scenes. I’m a straight woman so i only tried the male options so far. From the Ladies i got only as far: Lae’zel came up to me after questioning Zorru, and tells me very bluntly what she wants. Took me by surprise but gets sweeter later from what I heard. Shadowheart comes across very mysterious and secretive, but once you get to understand the story you know why. Karlach, sorry. Made me laugh in surprise when i had the whole “I wanna ride you till you see stars” moment. But at the same time she explained why she is that way. Astarion, also comes across secretive and admits that he kinda tricked the player into this love afair. But I can also get serious and sweet, depending on what path you take it Wyll, i wish Wyll would be a bit more open. At first i didn’t even realize he liked my character. But then the dance scene came it was too late. Maybe a bit more flirting on his end? Gale, sorry but. I decided Gale is my favorite. Smart and funny, and can also be sweet and emotional. He does things when you least expect it. I love the way his actor makes his voice shift depending on the mood etc.. Feels like a walking D&D romcom to me. 😅
I don’t partake in any romance in this game. Closest I got on my first playthrough was with none other, shadowheart but only because she literally forced it
@@ThatsOk83 I never got that far woth her. At first it always seems like she starts to build up some kind of relationship because she's very dependent on the player. But then i found out it seems like the romance option disappeared as soon as i started romancing someone else But sure you can also go completely without romance, just spurn everyone at the act 1 party latest or if possible before that^^
@@johnpsmith8132 I admit I'm somewhat too sensitive to romance Minthara. She comes across a bit creepy to me, when she wants you to break up with your partner or her^^ Halsin, could use a bit of depth, but in any case the romace is fun. He is literally one of the few partners who let you sleep with anyone alonside. He doesen't even care if you bed a devil, like Mizora or Harleep for example. Very relaxed. maybe in some future playthough i may try romancing only him :D
It’s funny I thought astarion would be My forever romance but for me I find myself loving gale. Crazy I know. I just find myself loving gale and feel a deep connection with him though out the game with my character ❤
I surprised Astarion got such a small segment compared to others, especially with his extra stuff with the evil and redemption durge, like these smaller romances got way more lol.
9:20 "she's a little bit frustrated.." That's putting it *mildly*! :D Karlach's probably the horniest of the bunch - and I'm not talking about her being a Tiefling. She's got to be one of the best companions out of a bunch of excellent companions. If it wasn't for my inability to not romance Shadowheart, my Tav would marry Karlach and move in with her as soon as I could and leave Faerun to its fate.
Lae'zel doesn't try to romance you immediately, she tries to #### you earlish in act 1. Romancing Bae'zel is incredibly enjoyable and quite a process. Getting respect from Lae'zel is incredibly satisfying.
I really like what Devora said about giving Lae’zel a chance. That’s actually how I feel about all the companions when people react hostile and negative about their act 1 behavior. This is a companion character and each one has character development in the game that is worth exploring. I’ve seen a few streamers just kill or abandon companions because of their first impression of them and they don’t even try to figure out where that behavior is coming from by getting to know them. It’s disappointing to me. However, everyone plays differently and if they really dislike the character that’s their prerogative.
Jennifer's a real sweetheart, like Shadowheart, cute, pretty and fun, beautiful too herself. It's one more reason why Shadowheart is so popular as a romance or as a character you love, literally in time, from the very beginning too.
What's interesting is that all these people have a very similar vibe. They're all very warm and friendly and sounds like they all enjoyed being part of the project. None of them is a boring arse.
when will the cowards (/j) at Larian let me romance the actual Raphael ? ETA: I didn't think I'd have to clarify for a throwaway meme comment, but I'm not actually trying to get Larian to write in an in-depth romance. I just think this narcissistic, sleazy, second-hand car dealer is neat. 😎💅🏼
Well, Raphael only has eyes for Raphael. Besides- the universe would be utterly doomed if Raph were to tear his eyes away from the mirror for a moment and they settled on Durge. lol
@@agirlnamedmichael1670 obv I don't agree with part of that. There's evidence in the game that Raph is very interested Tav & co, for whatever reason. Check his diary entries, man's positively obsessed. HoH staff refer to you as his favorite client. He mentions where your contract is for literally no reason - almost like he wants you to go there. Korilla also implies that was on purpose. Anyway I just want to rule the hells together and listen to that voice - not claiming he'd be a 'good' partner 😂
@@clubafterlife Of course he's interested. He's interested in using us to get what he wants, which is everything. He loves himself and only himself. All of the lore I found that he wrote about us paints us as tools for him to get what he wants. He's charming and charismatic, but he's still a demon and they have no propensity for kindness- they only love power. If he can get YOU to love HIM, then all the more useful to get what he wants. If he were to return the sentiment, it would be an act. Even Haarlep says Raphael loves Raphael.
Raphael is my favourite and I would love the option to "romance" him in some sort of way!😂 Haarlep is just not the same!😂 There's always implications of interest with Tav's lines like: "I've always dreamt of lying with Raphael - undiluted and raw" or "I like him too but I would never tell him to his smarmy face" (I don't remember the lines exactly but it's basically that) or Tav being asked about how much she (my Tav is a she) knows about Raphael and you can reply with "not as much as I'd like" etc. there's a lot of lines like that and undertones of flirtation on his part too. Yes he has a lot of interest in our character and yes it's 99% for the crown but, I do believe him when he says he's grown fond of us "in his own way". We're probably the most fun client he's had in a long while! Now if the romance with Raphael existed, it would definitely, 100% be completely different from the other options with other characters. It wouldn't be a loving, caring sort of relationship where he truly loves you and cares for you. It would be more toxic and questionable but, ascended Astarion romance exists so it's not like toxicity isn't out the question haha. I think it would be an interesting dynamic and if you can romance Mizora, you should definitely be able to romance Raphael. He's very charismatic and intriguing (which is the point!) And it seems like they've laid out the groundwork for a "romance" to happen... But it didn't. Hopefully Larian do add more Raphael stuff like being able to flirt with him or/and him checking in on you more often (as in show up at camp or something), have a scene where we dine together (like he said he would!) If we give him the crown, be able to go to the HoH without having to break in if we give him the crown, etc. There's a lot that could be added for him. He's an awesome character and Andrew Wincott did a masterful job voicing him. It would be amazing to explore what a "relationship" for lack of a better word, would be like with him. I'm very curious!
There is a 1975 horror film directed by the great David Cronenberg called "Shivers," in which people are infected with a parasite that makes them horny. That could've been a storyline in BG3.
BG3 won GOTY, and we all know the reasons that took it to that point, but I feel like there's one aspect noone talks about and it's the fact that you can investigate for days on days on days, read articles, watch interviews, etc and you don't find a single negative thing about BG3 (bar valid criticisms like the game having some glitches which is normal, or act 2 and 3 not being as strong as act 1 which fair enough) and that is SO refreshing for an industry that makes you fear googling ANYTHING about a game you like due to the fear of finding out the studio behind it might have done something unethical.
i didnt even know you could romance some of the characters in the game xD. Or just friendship at all. It is crazy how attached i got to Lae´zel because she was so annoying in the beginning but now she is my starboo and biggest asset in teamfights xD. I´ve been hooked like never before.....it is truly a great game!
Gosh, they are so nice persons! I'm glad Neil won, he's very talented and sooo kind to his fans. But Tim is the best actor for me (I aplode your taste, haha). He's perfect for the role of Gale❤🔥, who is equally well-read and intelligent. Interview with Tim is one of my favorites, he is a great storyteller. I really, really hope that I will hear Tim's magic voice in other games. Maybe in next Divinity? Thank you Dan for these interesting conversations, you are very cool! 😊
6:49 honestly, I would probably act exactly like that upon learning about romance scenes also, because it wouldn't even occur to me. I'm that type of person: awkward, geeky, nerdy...
"Lae'zel is mean, Lae'zel is abrasive..." I've somehow gotten Lae'zel to full approval without trying, as I'm doing a purely good run for my first game, and I'm not even romancing her. I talked stern to her once and prioritized earning her trust, and now she likes me more than Astarion does, and I'm in Act 3! Lae'zel is a Githyanki. She is young, slightly naive, and just like everyone else, she ends up having her whole world turned upside down. Giving her a chance is the least people can do. And after hearing what Emma had to say, I'm starting to feel bad about killing Minthara 😅
Yeah, my first complete run (while getting used to the system, which lead me to restart about 5 times) there were a couple of things I did early in Act 1 that ultimately fit my Dark Urge redemption playthrough perfectly, but which I later realised completely changed a bunch of storylines. Luckily yeeting Barcus purely by accident wasn't one of them :D, but unfortunately sneaking up behind Minthara and knifing her in the back in a 'you know where the tieflings are now, so you're not leaving this room' kinda was :(
Any1 else has the same issue I did with playing evil dude and the stuff you do to companions Laezel and Shadowheart i couldnt, i failed being the evil guy i just cant

I love Gales voice actor was surprised by the romance aspect, bro wasn't even acting 🤣
Halsin's is the MOST realistic direction because of the in-between sighs and brow raises... And there is nothing hotter than the archdruid NOT being able to contain the ABILITY he has controlled for 350 years. Hot AF!
Just tell us you can't resist a kind, beefy, six-foot-tall wood elf.
@@johnpsmith8132I can’t resist the 6ft tall,beefy, wood elf 🥰
Sadly woodelves are not a long-term relationship.
@@dreemgoat342 And you are so incredibly correct (I too cannot resist the beefy wood elf) 😂
Samantha is such a sweetheart. She is a perfect choice for Karlach
They're so good. First mocap job as well as far as I know
They're really fantastic. They did such a wonderful job. 😍
She? Careful, she considers herself non-binary, might offend her lol.
Lae'zel being easy?! I had Gale on one knee about 10 steps into the Druids Grove 😂
Not that I've ever romanced anyone but Astarion 👀
It's a shame they fixed that bug, Gale being a total simp really suited his character imo
Yeah I just gave him magic crap and he tried banging me after the grove storyline I was like get puta here gale
Emma Gregory’s voice is like velvet I just ughhhhh even when she’s not acting and just talking, I could listen intently for HOURS.
I do wish party members would romance each other once the player chooses their option. You can see that there are hints of Karlach being keen on Wyll.
I decided to try to talk to Karlach as Shadowheart at the tiefling party after my tav rejected her and she hit in Shadowheart! 😁
@@AM59342oh wow, good lateral thinking
Oh I love this idea
Karlach and Shadowheart would work, given that Shadowheart's actor is lesbian abd Karlach's actor said they decided to act the romance scenes saphic rather than catering to the straight male gaze.
@@AM59342 How does that work? I thought you can't make party characters talk to each other during camp. Or ever, really.
It's so Neil to spotlight a different actor in his section. XD
Man, Theo really did bring Wyll's character to life, I really really love his performance
God, I am in love with Tim Downie's voice so much❤❤❤ well, ALL these actors are BRILLIANT!!! thanks A LOT for the interview, Dan!! 🫶🫶🫶 Super happy that BG3 won GOTY!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Me tooo! the goofiness ❤
It's nice how Tim sounds exactly like Gale without needing to pitch his voice.
Also I think Gale was my favourite character.
The fact that Neil (Astarion)
directed Dave (Halsin)
through his romance scene
just makes too much sense…😂
Yes, darling. Just tell her to follow the bear.
@@Patriot-Eaglehead 😂💀
We should be able to romance the narrator. That voice, oh that voice.
the best one
The only game where i’ve seen that be a possible option would be Monster Prom lmao
Romance being the equivalent of phone sex
They completely missed an opportunity for dying from Karlach "loving" you to death. It could even be an achievement. Call it Bakin' Bits.
It would be out of character for karlach to knowingly allow that. Plus there are at least 2 "sex death" scenes if you are looking for those 😉
@@nickgotvyak5890enlighten me? 👀👀
Feels like truly this project brought out so much genuine and true passionate stuff from everyone :)
I just hope more publishers and studios recognize this style of making videogames is totally legitimate and will bring people to spend money on it - not just an abundance of microtransactions of hype.
Theo and Tim are so spectacular, both in and outside of their roles
I love them all so much much especially Tim Downie he's so hilarious I could listen to his anecdotes for hours 🤣
The romances are so wonderful! All the dialogues. I never saw this much appreciation for the player character written - and spoken awesomely! - in a game story.
There's something so sweet about Wyll, he's not overtly horny but he's SO honorable and kind. Definitely husband material
Raphael, a business man in one world as he is in another.
This must be so special for them. After so much work put into this MASSIVE game with 17,000 different endings, now they get to relax and be praised for their EPIC PERFORMANCES
Dave Jones' accent is so nice I kind of wish Halsin had it too !
Theo is the biggest, sweetest cinnamon roll, gosh he's adorable ♥
He's so cute!
The Emperor is so awful and manipulative, but his actor seems delightful. Too funny.
If you're blissfully unaware of his manipulation, he seems sweet too. ^^ *sobs*
i really enjoy minthara as a character, she’s so wise and well spoken
If we do end up getting a "director's cut" version of the game with new scenes, I demand that we have a scenario with Mizora raising her thumb saying "Thumbs up.. very classy." 😂😂😂
Halsin is one of my favorite characters thats ever existed. His romance scene was just the best (minus bear form) lol
You're the best Dan, you bring out the true hearts of these wonderful actors with your openness and capacity to listen.!
I agree - excellent interviewer - says as little as possible but shows interest always and encourages his guests to lead
i love how gale sounds exactly like tim downie
All of the actors are great, i must say to the romance scenes. I’m a straight woman so i only tried the male options so far. From the Ladies i got only as far:
Lae’zel came up to me after questioning Zorru, and tells me very bluntly what she wants.
But I can also get serious and sweet, depending on what path you take it
Wyll, i wish Wyll would be a bit more open.
I don't tend to partake in teh female romances either, but I have watched most of them on TH-cam, and Lae'zel's is very well done.
I don’t partake in any romance in this game. Closest I got on my first playthrough was with none other, shadowheart but only because she literally forced it
@@ThatsOk83 I never got that far woth her. At first it always seems like she starts to build up some kind of relationship because she's very dependent on the player. But then i found out it seems like the romance option disappeared as soon as i started romancing someone else
But sure you can also go completely without romance, just spurn everyone at the act 1 party latest or if possible before that^^
What about beefy Hanson and Minthara?
@@johnpsmith8132 I admit I'm somewhat too sensitive to romance Minthara. She comes across a bit creepy to me, when she wants you to break up with your partner or her^^
Halsin, could use a bit of depth, but in any case the romace is fun. He is literally one of the few partners who let you sleep with anyone alonside. He doesen't even care if you bed a devil, like Mizora or Harleep for example. Very relaxed. maybe in some future playthough i may try romancing only him :D
Of course Halsin has the longest clip lmao
It’s funny I thought astarion would be My forever romance but for me I find myself loving gale. Crazy I know. I just find myself loving gale and feel a deep connection with him though out the game with my character ❤
Happens. In mysme, thought I'd like 707, actually liked Jumin.
I solved that problem by playing Astarion and having him romance Gale. Two birds, one stone lol.
I surprised Astarion got such a small segment compared to others, especially with his extra stuff with the evil and redemption durge, like these smaller romances got way more lol.
9:20 "she's a little bit frustrated.."
That's putting it *mildly*! :D
Karlach's probably the horniest of the bunch - and I'm not talking about her being a Tiefling.
She's got to be one of the best companions out of a bunch of excellent companions. If it wasn't for my inability to not romance Shadowheart, my Tav would marry Karlach and move in with her as soon as I could and leave Faerun to its fate.
Gales voice actor just plays himself haha
Lae'zel doesn't try to romance you immediately, she tries to #### you earlish in act 1.
Romancing Bae'zel is incredibly enjoyable and quite a process. Getting respect from Lae'zel is incredibly satisfying.
Damn, you got ALL the interviews. This is awesome! Love Larian!
all of them killed it even the narrator killed it but man... MINTHARA'S voice is so LEGENDARY!!!!!
1:45 really good comments on minthara ... I almost regret having killed her in act 1 (twice in my first playthru).
they all have such nice voices and personalities
Fun fact, the world record for romancing laezel is 1 min 58 seconds.
Devora did sooooo good. I mean they all did so fucking good. BG3 is truly been the most fun I've had gaming in a while.
@@clubafterlife Don't get me wrong- he's an awesome character! XD
I love it when Jenifer ships Karlach and Shadowheart 😻 and I always romance Lae’zel ❤️🙌🏾
Can not separate Tim and Gale lol
There is a 1975 horror film directed by the great David Cronenberg called "Shivers," in which people are infected with a parasite that makes them horny. That could've been a storyline in BG3.
I wonder how Tim felt playing himself in this game.
I had the same reaction as Tim when I first started playing and found out you could date the companions 😂
I love Lae'zel, she's the best companion to romance in my opinion.
i didnt even know you could romance some of the characters in the game xD. Or just friendship at all. It is crazy how attached i got to Lae´zel because she was so annoying in the beginning but now she is my starboo and biggest asset in teamfights xD. I´ve been hooked like never before.....it is truly a great game!
Mizora's voice actor is as divine as Mizora
baldurs gate 3 has taught me toxic women are my type and it scarouses me
Karlach is honestly my favorite romance in the story of BG3 and the ending was epic!!
Devora is hypnotizingly beautiful.
I can't stop laughing... Scott Joseph saying "Awesome. Yeah. Illithid love" gets me every single time 🤣😂🤩👍
I love Halsin’s romance so much! He was my otl.
The whole cast is just so funny and lovely.
Never understood why you can't just use a Potion of Fire Resistance to romance Karlach, but ok xD
I was just thinking that!
You still take damage, you aren't immune, you want to risk fire on the bits?
Good thinking! xD@@ev17dan
Neil Newbon being terrified in the thumbnail is so funny
Tim was the perfect actor for Gale, without a doubt. I can't even imagine anyone else playing him because he IS Gale.
also im a little sad karlachs va didnt know that you could fall in love with karlach as a long term partner shes my fave i love her sm
Devora Wilde did amazing job as Laezel, but sorry Shadowheart and karlach won the first and second run
So nice to see the actors’ point of view! 🙂
6:49 honestly, I would probably act exactly like that upon learning about romance scenes also, because it wouldn't even occur to me. I'm that type of person: awkward, geeky, nerdy...
Mizora's VA is so gorgeous✨
Minthara has the best VA in my opinion. I did love them all of course but something about Minthara was so intriguing.
I really loved Wyll and I was so bummed my acorn scene was bugged before going full thulu lol
I'm here for my best friend Gale just being himself.
Gosh i LOOOOOOOOVE Tim's voice!!
That was a lot of fun! Minthara's VA really got her complexity
Karlach and lae´zel, are the two funniest romances ingame IMO
Lae’zel’s romance is lovely
I said something mean to Gale ONE time and haven't reopened that save 😬 lol
