I believe they did develop many of these characters from scratch, but you can definitely see how they incorporated some of the VAs into their characters' models. I grew up on Baldur's Gate 2, a good chunk of my college years were spent on that game. BG3 was a long time coming, but well worth the wait! I love the voice cast, especially how closely they got Jahira and Minsc to sounding like the original actors. The talent that went into this game, from the writing to the development to the voice acting is unreal. Thank you all so much for letting me relive an earlier part of my life through this game. The 2 lines I will forever remember from BG2: "Go for the eyes Boo, go for the eyes! Yeaaargh!" and "You must gather your party before-- You must gather your party before-- You must gather your party before venturing forth".
When i heard the voice of General Ketheric Torm - i was shocked a bit. J.K Simmons did a very great job and put a whole soul in his voice action. Thanks to whole BG3 voice actors. This was a wonderful journey
He chewed every scene he was in. It's clear that every VA did their best for their respective characters. And BOI, I can't seem to find any, who are worse than others.
Some times i kind of forgot there is extremely talented actors behind those faces and voices in video games. And Larian surely did cast the perfect actors for theirs caracters
Everyone else's voice clips are all goofy or fun and then JK Simmons rolls in with some of the heaviest hitting dramatic monologue ever to be spoken by a human. What a fucking legend.
A lot of these clips are from interviews, live streams, and cameo/meme vids that the actors have posted. I don’t think JK has really done any promotional stuff for the game besides that clip Larian filmed in the booth with him, although I’d definitely love to hear him talk about it, especially now that the game has been such a huge success.

BG3 has its flaws, dont get me wrong, but oh my god if it doesnt just overflow with love, care, passion and just sheer investment from everyone who worked on it, thats why its so successful, its not just another cash grab and gamers know it, love to see it.

Yeah, the mannerisms when speaking seem to be taken from most of the characters' VAs. I believe they did develop many of these characters from scratch, but you can definitely see how they incorporated some of the VAs into their characters' models. It's typically easier and less costly do capture their faces like this for speech/animation purposes. I'm impressed that Larian decided to take the more detailed and visionary, but also more expensive and time-consuming route of matching many of these voices and movements to the characters manually.
@@ElysetheEevee yeah I saw one of the voice directors talk about it, they used motion capture and tried to push the animation quality as much as possible, I think they have something like 200+ mocapped actors
Simmon's voice is so perfect, could listen to it for days.
I swear JK Simmons is simply one of the greatest of all time! All of his performances are amazing
I did not expect the VA for Lae'zel to be THAT beautiful. Immensely talented cast all around.
I never paid much attention to JK Simmons over the years but his voice is perfect for this sort of thing. He absolutely killed it.
JK Simmons in like a seal of approval for a quality project. 👌 All my favourites:
Juno, Spiderman, Whiplash, Portal 2 and now Baldur's Gate 3.
You forgot Red Alert 3
And Red Alert 3! "SPAYYYYYYYYCE!" I know that's Tim Curry but JK was in RA3.
Omni-Man too
Gravity Falls too!
My my, we aren't forgetting Oz's Schillinger are we?
J.K Simmons has such an epic voice it’s insane. Ketheric is a great villain.
When i heard the voice of General Ketheric Torm - i was shocked a bit. J.K Simmons did a very great job and put a whole soul in his voice action. Thanks to whole BG3 voice actors. This was a wonderful journey
I'd love to see more of Raphael's voice actor. Easily the best performance in the game lol
Dude was outstanding, I was captivated every time I spoke to Raphael! And that epic boss music!
He chewed every scene he was in. It's clear that every VA did their best for their respective characters. And BOI, I can't seem to find any, who are worse than others.
"Hope; such a tease!"
@@SirCharles12357then down came the claw
Some times i kind of forgot there is extremely talented actors behind those faces and voices in video games. And Larian surely did cast the perfect actors for theirs caracters
The voice talent for BG3 is so unreal, they all are just amazing
Everyone else's voice clips are all goofy or fun and then JK Simmons rolls in with some of the heaviest hitting dramatic monologue ever to be spoken by a human.
What a fucking legend.
A lot of these clips are from interviews, live streams, and cameo/meme vids that the actors have posted. I don’t think JK has really done any promotional stuff for the game besides that clip Larian filmed in the booth with him, although I’d definitely love to hear him talk about it, especially now that the game has been such a huge success.
MCs and the Narrator made the game for me! What a great cast
Oh man I just now fell in love not only with shadowheart, but her irl voice actress.
Apparently she met her gf by working on this game 🥺
@@warlordofbritanniashadowhearr shares hopefully she does as welp
The voice acting in this game is phenomenal. As an RPG fan, Ive never been so enthralled by Every. Single. Character.
Matt Mercer voices Minsk? 😮
I never would have guessed!
Minsc
When get used to Matts voice you can tell from his inclinations and tone whenever
God I love Karlach's voice, and Lae'zel, and Astarion, wow. All the voice actors (edit) and actresses are so good tho...
"It's Wizard time motherfu-" I didn't expect that and near choked on my drink.
All of them, every single actor and down to the one-liners as well: You were all absolutely perfect in your deliveries, and thank you so much for sharing your time and your talents with the world. Be well, stay healthy, love you all 🥂
Man they're soooo good, i love the amount of effort and care that's put into voices of characters, makes them soo believable.
Imagine if the d&d movie has a sequel, and has bg3 characters as cameo, and they are casted by the actors in the game.
Lol I love Matt Mercer but a real-life Minsc he is not
Just have them having a conversation in a pub somewhere. Maybe a throw away line from the MC about "I think I know those guys..." Would be amazing.
I could see Jennifer and Davora playing their characters but the rest would be a hard sell.
Maybe don’t show their faces but hire actors who look like them and use the voice actors to replace the way they talk for some who would be a hard sell
Lae'zel's actress has too much nose
I'm not going to spoil it, but Astarion's final story outcome is some of the finest acting I've heard/seen in video games. Kudos to Neil Newborn.
They are all amazing actors/voice actors, but I am here going crazy over Jason Isaacs (aka Lucius Malfoy) being something to look forward to in Act 3.
JK simmons voice is perfect for a villain. I don’t know if his character is the villain or not but he sure sounds like it.
One of the main ones
Well he needs pictures of spiderman somehow
Not villain. Only true villians in this game are Orin and Bhaal who basically exist to murder.
Wow all of the voice actors in the game are dice roll 20. Amazing and added so much immersion to the game. Thanks for everyone hard work and dedication. I honestly can’t single anyone out. They all are amazing.
I can't help but imagine the Narrator as the DM 🤣👌
In the lines where she is judgemental towards player's actions I always remember Malady from DOS2
That’s the point haha
She is.
@@Trendilien69 plz man, respect their hard work and never suggest training AI on a voice actor voice again
@@Trendilien69why tho
I don’t know how to pinpoint it but something about Jennifer’s voice just fits so well for Shadowheart. There’s a bit of softness to it that I love so much.
Today i realized that JK Simmons is Ketheric Thorm's VA. Great performance!
astarion has the most color when he speaks and he transfers so much emotion with every letter of his words. amazing
The real reason Ketheric Thorm went evil is because no one would get him pictures of Driders (Spider-Men).
Ah! Loved it!
That made my day! Especially, hearing the actors for Jahira and Minsc. It took me back to BG1. 😊
Matt Mercer isn't the OG VA for Minsc, though he does an AMAZING job. The OG VA is Jim Cummings. You would know him as Winnie the Pooh!
@@MrSprite69 does anyone know why he (Cummings) wasn't invited back? As far as I know he's still active in VA
Minsc will lead with blade and boot.... Boo will take care of the details
@@mikeroman5208I mean, 3 series wrapped thus year, along with a game, and 5 more projects upcoming, at least 2 currently in production....and he's 70.
I'm willing to bet that the strain of minscs voice is not something he'd relish, compared to pete and pooh. But no, no-one knows for sure.
You've done magic guys. BG3 motivated me to overlook my gaming hobby that I've mostly abandoned for years. I am grateful for Larian titanic work.
Some of the greatest voice acting ever in a Game, hell movie, Tv show, whatever. Great work from this cast.
I love the voice actors in this game so much ahaha ! They really do have some resemblance to their characters in game.
I knew I recognized Enver Gortash's voice from elsewhere! I remember Jason Isaac's role in The Death of Stalin where he played Field Marshall Zhukov.
"I hate this place. I wanna go to Build-a-Bear." That, followed by the sound of weapon impacts on someone too squishy, is sooooo Karlach.
Amazing cast, and honestly, while the big names obviously did an amazing job, I am absolutely blown away by all the performances, even from the less known members of the cast, its all of an unreal quality, its so clear that they hired people who would do their best, be passionate and be the best for the characters, not just because they would be a nice name to have on the cover. BG3 has its flaws, dont get me wrong, but oh my god if it doesnt just overflow with love, care, passion and just sheer investment from everyone who worked on it, thats why its so successful, its not just another cash grab and gamers know it, love to see it.
Uff, I love Karlach's VA, her voice acting is great and a perfect fit for Karlach
The narrator is so amazing! Loved listening to her throughout the playthrough
She is basically the incarnation of "let your intrusive thoughts in" and I love it.
She also uploaded outtakes

Alright now for a Critical Role collab. Time for our VAs to play their BG3 characters on actual DnD!
I would absolutely watch that. Followed of course by a coop playthrough of some of the cast of critical role playing their favorite campaign characters in BG3
Critical role is American thing mostly. Actors in this game are European mostly. Honestly can't name a single American from companion or other character voice actors lol.
Very happy to see the recognition going to these talented folks!
I'm glad they kept Miscs appearance the same as BG1.
I love Karlach's voice, and now I have a crush on her v.a. as well.
J K Simmons voice is so FREAKING GOOD! Reminds me a bit of Wayne Junes voice. AMAZING!
This is so good, so much talent. The whole cast is so amazing.
They did an amazing work with the voice acting in this game, every voice is memorable and fitting.
Lae'zel especially is amazing, she's really damn good.
Oh and Gale, could listen to that guy for ages.
Matt Mercer really did a good job honoring Minsc. Sounds pretty similar to the original
Minthara’s decisive delivery of every single line that she says, makes me love her character so much
oh no Minthara? I was currious who she is :D I like her voice so much - but Leazels Voice is amazing too
I recognise her from her work with Warhammer 40K. She’s voiced many Sisters of Battle and Ship Captains over the years
Unfortunately not so many players killed Tieflings to recruit Minthara, its saddens me that such great character who is not actually that evil, rather practical, is hidden behind tiefling slaughter
@@Sithisheyou can recruit her without hurting the tieflings. Just knock her out during her boss fight and she'll be in prison at Moonrise during act 2, when you can save her and recruit her.
The thorm gets me chills. What a voice.
How are they all so attractive? Absolutely great voice work in the game, it totally elevates the narrative to something special.
Take note other game developers. This is the kind of brilliant voice acting we get when you treat your cast right!
