I like how the announcers constantly throw shade at Phil while he's sitting there at a big time event (with a ton of success in poker otherwise btw) and they are nobody commentators.

Lol, Joe Stapleton is arguably the second most famous poker announcer to ever touch the game… right behind the Goat, Saxton. Just because you 2 clowns know nothing about the high stakes poker community, and merely have seen a couple TH-cam videos about phill Hellmuth and now the think you know it all, doesn’t mean you need to post your idiotic thoughts for the rest of the world to see.
Phill Hellmuth is not in the top 100 of active tournament players alive and still playing in the world. Probably not even in the top 500 as of right now. Hasn’t won a main event in nearly 2 decades.

It didn’t, was easy to put Phil on a pair of queens or other decent pair, then the board came out very draw heavy, perfect board to bluff at. Cates played it like he was on a draw too, played it perfectly. Phil should’ve realized who he’s playing with and that for Cates it’s quite likely for him to bluff on wet boards like that.
Phil actually owned Jungleman on this one. Kudos Phil.
it was actually poetic in the last hand when Phil tells him to not play GTO and jungleman does it anyway and is absolutely dominated. In my opinion you should optimize your style of play to you, taking into consideration a lot of aspects but basically I think you need a happy median of GTO and "white magic" as phil calls it. I believe GTO is very important to learn and understand the math behind pot odds, equity, the charts and solvers etc. You'll know how to optimize your decisions when you are clear of any reads that would effect your decisions. That brings me to the other half of the game and that's making reads. It still agitates me the time phil folded his weaker king to Nick Wright's bigger king, Nick says that was a bad fold from phil because GTO blah blah blah. White magic saved phil money in that spot where as the GTO player loses money. If you play strictly GTO you're gonna get read like a book. Some argue that strictly playing GTO online is the way to go. While I do agree that its effectiveness is higher online, that still does not mean there aren't reads to make. People say you can't read anyone online. Yes it is harder but of you agree to that then you aren't paying too much attention to your opponents betting habits, you're not taking notice of the time it takes them to check or to call or to raise, you aren't paying attention to their bet sizing. You can make reads online. Basically just optimize your own style and stop relying on solvers to play the game for you.

Agreed. But he works best with the typical 'straight' man instead of someone who is trying to out funny him.
@@inducedcomics That's how all commentary works really. Play-by-play commentator paired with a color commentator, usually with jokes. The dynamic works well, and Stapleton is especially good at his role.
