I do have my viewer count on and have no plans to turn it off honestly, however my mindset when it comes to streaming is very different than a lot of peoples I think. The reason I plan to keep it on personally is knowing if I'm totally alone or if somebody is actually lurking maybe waiting to strike up a conversation is helpful to me in terms of how often I glance at chat. Of course I have about the lowest of low budget setups when it comes to streaming (I read my chat off my phone for god sake lol) so that might not actually be a thing many others would be concerned about. The other thing is, what I want to accomplish with streaming is very different than what others are trying to do. I'm actually not streaming to be super entertaining, I'm not trying to become famous or rich (so gtfo stupid bots lol). The reason I stream is because I enjoy playing games, and I enjoy sharing that experience with others. Plus as someone that started on youtube and then decided to switch over to twitch I was used to not having anyone to interact with while playing the games. You could say that I developed the mentality and skillset to be totally fine all alone before I moved over to streaming so having a small view count doesn't bother me at all. Not that long ago I was in a place in life where I honestly had no hope of ever getting to play games like Metal Gear Solid 5 or Fallout 4 or 7 Days to Die. My life situation just didn't lead me to believe that would ever be possible for me. So instead I vicariously played those games through the content that others created by playing those games, whether that be on Twitch or TH-cam. Now I find myself blessed enough to actually be able to play those games that I had been dreaming of for so long and I realize that I can be one of those people that plays games that others are not able to. I know what I do isn't for everyone and there are probably going to more people that don't care for my content than there will be people that do like it, but I'm ok with that. All I care about is that entertaining myself can also be entertaining or even informative or helpful to others as well.
Laguna, first off you’re a legend. Second off, I LOVE that you have different reasons for streaming and I think that’s the beauty of it all in the first place. I personally am a big fan of your approach to things and your vast knowledge of the games you play is astounding. My hope with this video is that while not everyone has the same end goal when streaming on TH-cam or Twitch that some of these tips are universal - such as not letting people ruin the experience for you or the people that are wanting to watch and enjoying the experience you are making 😃 I think your reasoning on the viewcount makes sense and fits for how you choose to, in the moment, direct your conversation or train of thought.
