    Man, this is the best intro lesson on any kind of art I've ever seen. Your knowledge and talent come through without feeling pretentious or unachievable. Thanks for sharing-- really appreciate you.

    There are other amazing painters but this is literally the "All In One" video that anyone getting into this should watch. I've probably seen about 50+ tutorials and this had (what I feel) more in-depth explanations than the others combined. Definitely subscribed 👏

    Loves the bounty paper towel trick with staple. I found ii great to make it little big so when you are don't and paint drys you can cut it down with scissors for fresh paper

    Possibly the best introduction to spray paint art that I have seen. Been doing this for about three years and this video covers all the bases needed for someone to start with a solid understanding and foundation. Great demo.👍🏽👍🏽🤙🏽

    The last few months I've gotten really into spray paint art when I found it helps me ground myself when my mental illness starts to take hold. I've been looking for a good help video for a while and this is exactly it. Thank you so much. 😁

    7/29/2021 USA Grandpa Bill: Ash, I've watched 10 or 15 of these videos now and you have the friendliest manner of presentation I've found, with much less ego involved. You've focused on the art and not yourself. So many presenters are promoting themselves where you promote the art and mechanics. Thank you for being on TH-cam. I've subscribed and hit the notification bell for all of your videos. I'll learn a lot more from you. You have a good way of teaching: to the point and with examples.

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thaaaank you so much! I’m truly happy people get something useful from these videos. It is very easy to make it about yourself and ego and less about the art, but I really hope not to come across that way. I do have more videos planned, I’ve just been really busy with other things, but they are coming soon. How cool is that name: meticularius

    So I stipped art for a long time cause i hated how long shading with a pencil took and just straight paint brushes would take. Then i tried spray paint and omg im hooked again, all the fun parts of art without the bs hours of small detail and omg i love painting with a knife.

    Fantastic video. Great clear demonstration and explanation. I've grown away from painting acrylic and watercolour stuff but am now remotivated to try spray paint art. Thank you so much for your brilliant tips here. Can I please ask though what is poster board? I'm in Ireland and I think it might be called something else here? Is it similar to photo paper with a gloss side and a paper backing?

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Poster board is common here in the states. Just large pieces of a thick paper, like a card stock, but yes, has one glossy side to it. What’s important is that whatever you paint on it has the glossy surface to it, or is at least sealed in a way so that the paint doesn’t absorb into it. You can even gesso a canvas or other surface and paint on that 👌🏻 I’m happy to hear you’re motivated and willing to give it a try! Thanks for checking out my vids

    I just watched your paint art tutorial on TH-cam. I see you say you use Krylon paint. I am about to do a space mural in my kids room using some of these techniques you showed. for the paint can I just use from walmart Krylon Fusion all in spray paint? - do you do gloss, Matt or what? I am making planets stars etc. I plan to spray clear gloss when im done to protect it all from kid fingers etc.

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the krylon fusion paints myself now since they’re easier to find than the ones I used in Vegas, I’m honestly not sure how a matte finish paint will mix or effect things, but I think a gloss clear coat should be good regardless of the paints original finish

    Brilliant :) What type of paint do you use etc.. matt or Gloss and how do you finish of your work...with spray varnish?

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey sky for the late reply. I use gloss, the colors look more vibrant. If I’m using use krylon spray paint then I’ll use a gloss clear spray paint to finish it. If it’s the Montana’s and some acrylic paint over the top then I’ll use a gloss varnish like for acrylic paints

    Hi, your video helped me so much. I have been doing spray paint art for about a year could you tell me the best way to layer stuff on a painting. Like a moon or planet in the sky but with tree branches in front of the moon stuff like that without the colors from one thing kinda bleeding iff onto the other stuff. Does that make sense? So basically overlapping things other than overlapping planets. Thanks, sorry so long

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When layering, you have to start from the back and work forward, while knowing what you plan to do in the foreground. Put down your moon/sky, but you can either scratch in the tree, or paint in the trunk branches, then add the leaves.

    Just to be clear to wet the painting , you use clear coat right ?

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s correct. If you want to loosen the paint up/wet it, then use clear, but understand that it’ll start to build up a layer itself so you don’t want to over do it

    Whats the best way of taping down your board without effecting the art? Double sided tape?

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Double sided could work, just be careful how sticky it is or it’ll rip the paper, if it’s too sticky then pop your hands on it until the track weakens. I’ll take a piece of duct tape and fold it into “double sided”, but then take thin pieces and firmly take down the sides of that. I’d tap it with my hand to weaken the tack of the tape and then use that. Holds the paper in place, but doesn’t hold onto the paper too much.

    Ive been doing my first galaxy mural for my sons wall and i cant figure out planet rings..any suggestions?

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, my usual approach to rings is using a tool to scrap them in, but if this is a mural on the wall then that can be tricky if you have to deal with the typical "orange peel" wall texture found in most residential places. Another option you can try is make a stencil in the shape of the rings and either just paint them in OR use the stencil as a guide after it's dried. Put it in place, use clear to wet the paint again and then just smear it with your finger, but only inside the stencil area, to create the variations in the rings, if that makes sense? Then you can always use a pen or tool to trace along the edges of the stencil just to add a highlight to the edge of the rings and further define them. Just some ideas, but hope they help! I'd like to see it when you're done!

    Are there other materials besides magazine paper that make different effects?

    • @AshSchultzArt
      @AshSchultzArt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use the thin plastic off my canvases, or grocery backs for quick texture, but I’d experiment with anything you can use to lift the paint or move it around. You could even drip acetone on it to remove it or create interesting effects
