I just did this repair. HOLY SH8T. Took me hours to get that piece of crap out. Had to bend the harness mounts of out the way. Used a universal joint with socket extension and 7mm socket to unscrew the damn bolts. Once it was out the new one was a little tricky to install but was able to get line of sight from the glove box view to attach the outlet flap. Overall 10/10 difficulty. Note: after removing the 7mm bolts you need to push the black piece of plastic out of the way to remove the actuator. All said and done, NO MORE CLICKING SOUND and the recirculating button works again.
Dude! You’re a life saver that noise was driving me crazy. Next question and this might sound stupid but when the recirculating button is pressed what position should the door be. When I press it the swings open (away from me) and I think that’s incorrect.
When you are looking at the door thru the glovebox and it moves away from you(forward) it's closing off outside air from coming in thru the cowl under wipers. In this position it's recirculating inside air.
When the door is close to you, it brings in fresh air. When the door is away from you, the outside air is closed off and you're recirculating the inside air.
Andy Limmer any chance you would be willing to email pictures of the procedure to remove the dash and airbag? This actuator is the last fix I need to do to get my system perfect, mine is stuck in open position (air from outside always drawn in) and I’d like to take it apart without braking any of the plastic. Any tips you have for removing the airbag would be appreciated. FYI, if others scan have access to a slightly higher end scanner, the DTC that popped up for me was B0229 which is apparently supposed to be a code connected to the fault with this recirc actuator.

I have 2013 Silverado. Each time I press the recirculation button it blinks 3 times then goes right back to the outside air indicator. Is this a need for the recirculation actuator replacement ???
I don't think so. It sounds like you are trying to use the recirculation air on a setting where recirculation air cannot be used. For example, I don't think you can use recirculation air when you have the mode set to defrost. You should only have to replace it if it's making a noise.
Mine is stuck closed which is bringing in outside air making my air conditioner not blowing as cold I would like to replace it but it's a bitch to get to. Do i have to remove the dash and air bag

What's the GM part number on this actuator? Is it the same as the blend door part numbers?

Did it affect passenger and driver? What about heat in cold weather -- were you getting cool air then?
