As a Sephiroth main, yeah, I can be an edge lord at times, or so I think. And yes, I do think he's a very hard character to use because you can't just mash buttons to win, the complete opposite of characters like Joker or Pikachu.

I suppose I can't speak too much, as I've been playing swords ever since I picked up Melee (I was formerly a Link main through all titles till Ultimate, I'm currently a Terry main, considering Seph as a second main). The only learning curve I had was the aerials and the recovery. He was mostly natural for me to play, but in retrospect, I suppose he can be hard to play for some.
Ah DLC edition. I'll try to update this as you update it if I remember lol So characters I've tried to main at some point: 0:20 Joker - I have not played a Persona game, but I want to. I didn't pick him up because of MK Leo, I picked him up because he's so dang close to what kind of character I would make if I were to design a character specifically for myself. Though I wouldn't have made the arsene mechanic, that just makes him so OP. 0:47 Hero - I don't have the best luck, but most of the options from his down+B are pretty good in the first place. I try to main him time to time because his RNG makes every match interesting, but I also can play without RNG since his Neutral B, and Side B spells are still crazy strong and effective to the point that you don't really even need the down + B spells. As for being Goku, sure one of the alts looks kinda like Goku, but really, Lucario and Ryu are much closer to what Goku would actually be like if he got in the game.... I feel like that's why Aura works the way it does in Smash. Aura doesn't get stronger the more hurt you are in the games or in the movie he's from. That's a Saiyan thing. Lucario also has the same voice actor, and his final smash is basically a Kamehameha. Also, his counter teleports like DBZ characters do. 1:56 Terry - Pretty accurate I gotta say. I'm still strongly tempted to go back to him. Fun to play, and I love "Terryfying" people with him. 2:37 Byleth - I wasn't upset, I was just "I have no idea who this is". After playing a little bit of Three Houses, I gotta say I love being a teacher helping students with problems. Also Byleth is like Marth 2.0 for me, so I was trying to main him for a long time. However Sephiroth came around and he's like Byleth 2.0 4:19 Sephiroth - I used to be as edgy as someone could be without throwing insults at people. So being an edgelord is accurate. However, recently not so much because VR has corrupted me by making me love adorable things... And people have started calling me... "cute" X_X ...Wait, edgelord as in gaurding the edge... Oh I see ha ha funny joke. Yes I do know pretty much everything about swordsmen in smash because I just go to them by default. He is THE anime swordsman for me. Also helps that he's basically the embodiment of the kind of feeling I've been trying to chase by getting better at smash. Where you feel like you're totally in control because of how powerful you are, and how you can read every movement the opponent makes. I used to get like that in many games in the past, but now I've decided I only have time to do that with one game, so Smash is the one to do. So Sephiroth is just too perfect for me. I will never go back to maining Cloud either since Sephiroth is here. 4:58 Pyra Yeah I was happy there was another "slow as shit" sword character, because sometimes it's nice to get really strong reads on people. That forward smash is like hitting Ganondorf's Doriyah, it's so nice. Also my room is clean (because I have almost nothing in it because I turned it into a VR room) 5:27 Mythra - I just love how fast she is. To be honest, I can't main Pyra or Mythra alone, it has to be together since swapping between them can mess with the opponent's ability to read you, and I love going from slow hard hitting to being stupid fast. Pikachu and Joker will always be top tier, just be glad that they take some skill to use. Yeah she does kinda feel like Sheik, but much easier. Also I prefer Pyra over Mythra. As a fighter of course. 6:01 Random - I try to say I main characters, but I just cannot stop swapping characters. This is the largest reasons why I started playing Smash more competitively as opposed to another game in the first place. Other fighting games it's hard to find even one character I want to play. Smash, I love just about everyone in the game for their own reasons. I like mastering every character and playstyle in whatever game I play. I figured Smash would be good for that. I didn't expect there to be this many characters though since they keep adding more, or that fighting games would be so much harder than other genres to master due to many many different reasons. I look forward to seeing the other characters.
@@thedaveed1 Steve is someone I may consider in the future solely for his gameplay. Though due to being a bit salty because of a few matches when he first got in, and no real love for minecraft (fun game though), and he's already got an uphill battle. Also when it comes to a "main", I try to play characters that are a bit more "normal". With that said he is really fun to play and will at least play him in casual from time to time. Also the more I see/play him, the more I appreciate him. He also has a lot of room for creativity and I love characters that let you do whatever you want. So I may try to main him in the future.

Like 1/3 of the roster are characters I "seriously" consider maining, but I could literally be happy maining anyone in the roster. However in my opinion they are too similar. Compared to most characters in the roster, they are very very similar. It's just the both of them have a lot of horizontal bairs/fairs, and often use tilts in neutral, then use a circular nair when enemies get too close. Byleth has that side by that covers a huge area but is easily punished, kinda like Sephy's up air and forward smash. Both have projectiles that aren't exactly strong enough to be used in neutral, but they do have their uses. They both have a way to delete the opponent, Byleth down+B, Sephy giga flare. There are differences yes. Byleth has a different recovery than Sephiroth, and they both can attack with them in different ways. Byleth is a lot safer when it comes to frame data. Also Byleth has an easier time with opponents above him because up air is absurdly good for byleth, but doesn't leave him open for a year like Sephiroth. Byleth has a down tilt that can be combod into. I'm sure I could go on, but most other things I can think of do not come up as often as the similarites between the two. I prefer Sephiroth over Byleth because he looks cooler, and while they play very similarly, Sephiroth also has shadow flare and a reliable counter.
I'm one of those relatively rare (at least from what I've seen) people who uses Pyra and Mythra almost equally. They released while I was out of town for a wedding, and I just started messing around with them one of the nights I was there. Some of the crazy combos I learned where I constantly switch between the two makes my playstyle fun for me and unpredictable for opponents. Also, they drove me to play Xenoblade 2, and it is awesome. End of speech
As a Sephiroth main and Terry secondary (was my main until Sephiroth came out), I feel flattered that you think of us that way, and I'm pretty sure my friends and brother will agree with you.
The only reason I main sephiroth is because I did his challenge at hard mode and realized he a good character and when I used him I realized even more the he’s broken

As a long time smash fan, Once I picked up Minecraft and enjoyed it, I wanted Steve in smash bros. I was so happy he ended up in the game. I almost cried. So, being a Steve main, all I can say is that it takes a lot of strategizing resources in a match.
I main Hero because I love Dragon Quest and how Hero's different skins include more than just one game, unlike FF7 hogging the spotlight...again. I also respect how huge DQ is in Japan and how long they've been waiting for a DQ rep. And if it weren't for DQ, there'd be no Cloud and Sephiroth.

I don't technically main random, but I find myself playing as random a lot just because i want to get better at every character or i don't know who to play as. This game has so, so many characters that i just dont even know who to play as sometimes. im technically a ken main though and i am very bad at this game

Smash, I love just about everyone in the game for their own reasons. I like mastering every character and playstyle in whatever game I play. I figured Smash would be good for that. I didn't expect there to be this many characters though since they keep adding more, or that fighting games would be so much harder than other genres to master due to many many different reasons.
I look forward to seeing the other characters.

Byleth and Sephiroth aren't similar enough to drop one for the other, in my opinion.

@@thedaveed1 Steve is someone I may consider in the future solely for his gameplay. Though due to being a bit salty because of a few matches when he first got in, and no real love for minecraft (fun game though), and he's already got an uphill battle. Also when it comes to a "main", I try to play characters that are a bit more "normal".
With that said he is really fun to play and will at least play him in casual from time to time. Also the more I see/play him, the more I appreciate him. He also has a lot of room for creativity and I love characters that let you do whatever you want. So I may try to main him in the future.

Like 1/3 of the roster are characters I "seriously" consider maining, but I could literally be happy maining anyone in the roster. However in my opinion they are too similar. Compared to most characters in the roster, they are very very similar.
It's just the both of them have a lot of horizontal bairs/fairs, and often use tilts in neutral, then use a circular nair when enemies get too close. Byleth has that side by that covers a huge area but is easily punished, kinda like Sephy's up air and forward smash. Both have projectiles that aren't exactly strong enough to be used in neutral, but they do have their uses. They both have a way to delete the opponent, Byleth down+B, Sephy giga flare.
There are differences yes. Byleth has a different recovery than Sephiroth, and they both can attack with them in different ways. Byleth is a lot safer when it comes to frame data. Also Byleth has an easier time with opponents above him because up air is absurdly good for byleth, but doesn't leave him open for a year like Sephiroth. Byleth has a down tilt that can be combod into. I'm sure I could go on, but most other things I can think of do not come up as often as the similarites between the two.
I prefer Sephiroth over Byleth because he looks cooler, and while they play very similarly, Sephiroth also has shadow flare and a reliable counter.
I have pyra/mythra as my secondary main and the things you said were pretty accurate to what i thought.
I'm one of those relatively rare (at least from what I've seen) people who uses Pyra and Mythra almost equally. They released while I was out of town for a wedding, and I just started messing around with them one of the nights I was there. Some of the crazy combos I learned where I constantly switch between the two makes my playstyle fun for me and unpredictable for opponents. Also, they drove me to play Xenoblade 2, and it is awesome. End of speech
Damn I also play both characters equally (bad, but equally) because of their unique yet classic gameplay and the got me into xc2

As a Terry main I have to say it’s way too accurate. I say I suck at the game but I hit that GO mode and suddenly gain ultra instinct or something and start pulling combos and fakes like nothing else. I used to main Captain Falcon but just never fully reached his potential

As a long time smash fan, Once I picked up Minecraft and enjoyed it, I wanted Steve in smash bros. I was so happy he ended up in the game. I almost cried. So, being a Steve main, all I can say is that it takes a lot of strategizing resources in a match.

I main Hero because I love Dragon Quest and how Hero's different skins include more than just one game, unlike FF7 hogging the spotlight...again. I also respect how huge DQ is in Japan and how long they've been waiting for a DQ rep. And if it weren't for DQ, there'd be no Cloud and Sephiroth.
