I love watching these videos Joe! It's very nostalgic to see these old formats again I did notice @17:30, that you mentioned Pak didn't want to use Abysspike's effect because of Trap Hole Nightmare. Abysspike actually misses the timing here. Dark Hole wiped the field. Gear Gigant activates in GY as chain link 1 (turn player), and Abysslinde activates as chain link 2 (non-turn player). Linde summons Pike, and then GGX summons back the Geargiano. The last thing is Geargiano's summon, so Pike misses the timing
I love seeing IRL (or remote, that counts) duels compared to Dueling Book. It's hard to get interested in DB duels for me. If you have this ability reguarly, please consider prioritizing IRL duels over DB.
22:59 mind elaborating the marksman teus vs traphole nightmare? I thought marksman had to be cl1 since it was discarded first as that was the rules back in 2014.
We played under the assumption that since the original text of Abyssteus was mandatory you could order the chain links as such. I am happy to be wrong. Is there a source for this?
@@YGOHistory SEGOC wasn't changed until 1 or 2 years ago. If you remember shaddoll fusion, you had to use the shaddoll in grave as cl1 and construct as cl2 despite them both being optional effects and happening at the same time, you sent the card for the fusion summon before the monster was summoned. And this is how it has always worked in the TCG until the aforementioned change some time ago, although in the OCG they've always been able to rearrange the chainlinks as they saw fit. And as far as I know this should be the same with teus discarding an atlantean as both are mandatory and you discard first.
What is the reason to preemptively activate dweller at the start of the opponents turn rather than waiting to see what they may or may not send off cost to activate effects?
Great games to watch. When you made emeral and dweller with the breakthrough in grave would have going into rhapsody and dweller banishing the breakthrough been a better play?
This was a great refresher compared to the dueling book matches. I would love to see more of it. Are you looking to profile some decks from 2009/10? Maybe some decks from the 2009 nationals or the “French Twilight” deck that won SJC Columbus in November 2009?
I remember back then that if you discarded an atlantean off of teus or megalo, that the grave effect(s) would have to be cl1 (and cl2) because the grave effect(s) met their trigger 1st, before the on field search effects of teus or megalo. I am a european player tho, so maybe that was a difference between NA and EU. Besides that, there isn't really any reason to detach for dweller in SP back then imo. The only thing that could happen immediataly in MP1 was volanic queen or lava golem which were pretty much not played at all. (edit: just saw you address this in another comment)
@@YGOHistory Oh OK. Definitely love the vids tho, just thought i'd address the 1st thing for anyone going back to play these formats. Keep up the good work!
I enjoyed this since I know every card both of you play. But for the average viewer, most will likely have no idea what the opponent's cards do unless you've profiled them already.
This type of content is definitely for a certain segment of the community. I could revisit the setup and potentially include card art for important plays.
huh, why did you draw phase dweller? there's nothing you can't chain to where he gets an effect off afaik and if he's passing anyway you're wasting a dweller.
To be honest, in the moment I did not recall how Megalo/Teus worked versus Dweller. In retrospect, yes, I should have held the Dweller negations since I could chain Dweller to any Mermail effect.
Great games

This is really cool. What i love about the duel videos is the insights and commentary during the duel. This makes me wanna play remote duels 😂

I loved this set up! I like that it allowed you to talk through the plays that both of you decided to make.
I definitely would love to see more of this!
This was a great video, I would definitely like to see more like it if you are able to! And I would love to see a commentary on that second match.
I've been binging your videos and I've been so interested in mermails! I love the videos!
Joe where the second match at?????? :)

At the time of the match - I forgot how Dweller interacted with Teus/Megalo. You are 100% correct. I should have waited.
Lets see a 2nd match and Pak’s list
Big fan of these style videos
I miss these old formats so much. Great games!
Agreed!
LOVE THIS! KEEP IT UP JOE 🔥

Very likely the case.

Definitely post more of this :D
The streak continues... undisputed, undefeated--the champ is here!
I enjoyed this much more than the DB games personally.
Certainly beneficial if you already know what the cards do (since DB lets you read along).
I need a link to the among us card sleeves
I would reach out to Pak.

Yeah. In both cases - you are 100% right. Replaying these formats really helps bring these things back into focus.

There is a universe in which I did really enjoy this…..😜

I was gonna ask the same thing. Shotgunning prevents him (pak) from committing any resources

great video, prefer these much more to DB.
This aged perfectly
Why? Because Pak won the remote duel YCS?
@@CallMeNevermore yep
missed lethal ggg ep into 3 gigant + arsenal 🖤🖤
That is what happens when you don't play Gears in years. You're totally right though. Won't happen again!
if you're talking about G3, torrential is still a card you know.
@@DarkVoidTG I think he meant G1. But against an unknown deck - I might not even go for it anyway. Tough call.
I love it!
