I live in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains on my 14 acres, we have anywhere from 0 to 40 turkeys on out little meadow below our house every day and get to watch them fly into the pine trees every night. It’s even cooler to see them just at daylight as they glide down from their perches. Wish I could send a video of that.
I've never seen this but I lived in the country when the chicks were new. Mother Turkeys are such great mothers. I'd watch them from my house window and listen to her sweet talk to her babies. Unfortunately with the nesting on the ground, predators and hay cutting, not too many make it to adulthood. Great video💙
We have a turkey family currently, so we really love this footage showing what our mama and babies probably look like trying to settle in this evening! Thank you!
I was fortunate enough to photograph this a couple years ago. The hen was already on a sycamore branch hanging over a creek when I spotted her. One of the seven poults fell trying to get situated underwing. It nearly ended up in the stream, but flew back up unscathed. I'm sure they knew I was there, but I was glad I didn't drive them off roost.
Wow! without exaggerations one of the best wildlife videos I have seen. Spoken commentary of the adoring chicks gathered, beneath the mother bird’s wings at night, for warmth and comfort was pleasing. In a way, I felt that the author was trying to communicate a message to us, not to eat them, and to kill them as animals have the same rights to live on Earth. This lady could teach the humans a lesson or two, foremost is the message "a mother’s love is unconditional and eternal".
Some species are not so great parents. Some don't parent beyond procreation. Others still abuse their offspring for their own enjoyment. And that's just the humans. Then there's the animal kingdom, which is the same.
@@Kimoto504 - Well, the "not so great parents" sometimes gives to the 'unable parents'. Some are walking around with bipolar + other mental health issues.
Thank you for this amazing video! I teach special needs middle school learners. The LOVED seeing this about poults roosting in the tree as they had read about this week!
Whoa, I'm impressed (especially by the flying prowess)- thanks for the video! Turkeys are remarkable creatures. Too cute watching them trying to snuggle under her wings😊
Enjoyed this video, Mike. Big thumbs up. We witness this each year and re now fortunate to watch a gang of 10 toms pack together through the cold winter evenings here. They roost in various tree tops near the house her in southeast NC. Have a Merry Christmas. Double thumbs-up 👍🏽👍🏽🙂
Same with my peafowl and red jungle fowl. My only worry is when winter hits. They will freeze to death in the trees. I have to work extra hard to get them into the coop, Especially the jungle fowl.
This is awesome. I've seen turkeys fly up to roost in the evening before, but have never been lucky enough to see the babies fly first hand. Spectacular video.

Thank you so much beautiful picture of turkey and how the mom 🦃 protects her young by using her wings she is beautiful love this video thank you blessings for everyone reading this🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👌👌👌
These are wild turkeys. If it was a domestic breed it couldn't fly very high. Unlike like their wild counterpart, most domestic poultry fowl breed cannot fly.
I was lucky enough to see the poults fly away when they and their mother stopped by to eat the food dropped by the songbirds eating at the feeders a couple of summers ago. I knew adult turkeys could fly, but not the poults. 😀😁
The state let out wild turkeys here in TN, + they are so beautiful.. I love your video, very professionally done. Great shot of the baby turkey's going up to roost in the trees.
Never seen turkey flying how much more the chicks. This particular family is amazing. Takes posture with her chicks for us(first timers) to see. The scene is spectacular!
What a pritty young hen and polt. When fishing at my honey hole sometimes they would come out and peck around not long but how nice . Lots of hens with young. So I made the fishing spot my fall honey hole so they had no outside pressure. But what a sight to behold.
O my. Respect. That is a lot of work! An acrobatic feat. Seeing them finally fit under her wings on that branch is endearing. These turkeys. They nay not know a ton... but they really do know how to be a mom. It is touching to see. Thank you for sharing this.
In "Travels with Charlie", John Steinbeck mentioned that he was invited into a ranch (or a farm) in Texas, and there he had seen wild turkies flying before sunset to spend the night up the trees! Amazing! It was the first time I've known that! (Used to think them terrestial, like chickens!).
Thanks a lot for showing the love and care of a wild turkey mother. Without that love and care, they can’t survive!!!
What a great video!!! I didn't know that babie turkeys can fly at those young age!!!
I figured they perched in the trees but this is awesome!!! The babies are too cute! 🙏🍀🇺🇸

No matter what species we talk about theres one undeniable trait that all have in common & there’s nothing else like it.

Bird mothers are notoriously cold and cruel compared to mammal mothers. Watch the endless mother duck and geese videos. They really don't care.
