After a severe attack of back pain, the rehab medicine doc wrote me a number of medications that would have effectively ended my career if I started taking them. Luckily I went home from that appointment and found your videos on line and am glad to say that after 2 weeks of doing them, I have not needed any medication at all. Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for your videos Esther, they are great and incorporate the many different levels; you have adjustments available for the beginner on some of them for those who wish to try out the more difficult poses in yoga, which is great for me! As a beginner, I am finding yoga relaxing for my body and I am already enjoying it after just 10mins. Thank you so much again

Thank you for your answer =) I was just asking because when we do abdominals in my aerobics class, our instructor always insists that we keep our lower back firmly flat on the floor so as to protect the spine. Some people seem to find it hard to keep the lower spine touching the floor all the time while doing abdominals. In my case, I find it harder when my legs are closer to the floor.

it underneath a pillow. I would also look at trying beginner's Pilates and using an exercise ball to help you. Beginner's usually do well using props or tools. You will achieve a lot more using props and when you have mastered sufficient core strength a sequence such as this will be a cinch. I'd give it 2.5 weeks (if you exercise your core daily) and you will be much stronger. Good luck! :)

Hi Ester, I started yoga a few years back after i had n microdisectomy of the L4 and L5 disks. Had no formal training, but i downloaded your video's and it helped me tremendously. I heard on one of your video's that you was in South Africa and was wondering when you would come again? I'm in Cape Town...southern suberb and this side is very little yoga class and the one's that is here are not very eager to take me as a student when i tell them about my operation. I want to know from you what can i do to help myself improve? Thanks for taking the time to read my message. Regards Everyn

The reason you have the deep arch and it's uncomfortable is because you have a weak core. Take it easy and slowly, building up each day. This sequence might be a bit advanced for you, so an exercise that physiotherapists recomend to clients in your position would be to lie on your back with your hands under the arch and press your back down onto your hands. Eventually you will be able to press your back into the floor without using your hands. Be careful not to strain your neck, perhaps propping

In addition to personally benefiting from what Esther teaches, I keep wondering how old she is, approximately, because I think she's probably older than she looks. My point is that Esther seems to be a living example of how yoga practice and fitness in general, if pursued diligently enough, can maintain an attractive shape, muscle tone and even beauty well beyond what would normally be the case.
