Because Americans are mentally a commune society, even they claim that they despise communism - they go by trends and groups, they think alike, follow influencers, and most importantly, they have to share everything they know, and if they are lucky, they will make some profit from it. French people, on the other hand, are individualistic; they want to figure out by themselves who they are and live their life accordingly and keep this acquired knowledge to themselves. Hence, they are mysterious, like a puzzle you want to solve :)

I love what Camielle said about french girls finding what suits them, their body, and what they like and dressing according to that. Not following trends but buying staple pieces that will fit your wardrobe and last a long time. I really love that. Fast fashion has ruined our sense of style. Some people only buy a piece because it's "trendy" then the trend passes and they forget about that item and throw it out and the cycle continues with the next trend...

With you. French husband here too - and his family, friends, ex colleagues etc in France are so farrrrrrr from chic! They’re like village/ small town people anywhere else, comfortable and have their own style, and certainly never trend led. I’d even go so far as to say our Parisian friends and their family the same, more French practical and French brand led in their style..maybe on you tube, Instagram and propelled by such ladies as Camille, Jeanne Damas, etc etc, but such “French style” is as curated and contrived as the designers and brands that sell these such “ French” style clothing eg zadig Voltaire, the kooples, etc etc...don’t get me wrong, I love the style, rather sophisticated and classy, yet sexy looking, but it is not “our” France! Not by a long stretch,

Cheap brands like fashion nova, forever 21, and other fast fashion brands do an amazing job at making you feel insecure, so you’ll buy their clothes. Their models are of outrageous proportions. The thing with their stuff is that it’s trash that falls apart quickly. You can buy cheap clothes all you want, but the amount of money you’ll spend replacing those items over and over again, is probably more than buying a timeless, high quality piece once. It’s also way better for the environment.

Not everyone can pull off the "french" style I personally think..if you're gorgeous basically anything will look chic on you..hence a shirt and jeans will look amazing... But with people like me I rely on colour and prints.. hence why I love the Brits style! The more unique the better
Alexa is a PERFECT mix of French and British style. Classy, not too loud but unique and cute/androgyny...
I love the french language nd I do love their effortless but lots of effort look and that cool/mysterious kinda vibe though❤️

I LOVE the basket thing, having something personal to you rather than being about brand names. My favorite pieces are always something personal and unique, maybe from a small boutique or something I've altered myself to fit my own personal style. Plus most of the time, you're paying extra hard-earned $ for a brand name, and half the time it's not even a quality product! There is so much competition in dressing for brands as well--having personal, unique items celebrates you and shows a part of you to the world, and that's what fashion is all about in my opinion!
