    So glad I've found this video!
    Not just for cleaning but for the setting on my grinder.
    I've been grinding at 5 (half turn), just rest the tamper on top and spin to level the puck. Tried your setting, tamped harder and pulled a perfect shot. Thanks 😊

    bought this used from Marketplace and the previous owner was kind enough to run it through her dishwasher for me before I picked it up. this helped me get it back together properly after dismantling it and wiping everything down with iso.

    I was camping and this fell apart during use into all the pieces, and I was lucky enough to recover them all in gravel, dirt, and such. I wasn't exactly sure how to reassemble, as it isn't entirely intuitive. Many thanks for the helpful guidance on how to reassemble it correctly.

    Thanks for the video - was extremely helpful. Turns out my top and bottom burr were stuck together. I removed the rest of the parts so it was just those two, up-ended it (so the screw that would be where the adjuster and all is now facing the ground), held it by the top burr housing and beat it against my carpet with a few firm strikes and it dislodged. I'm now happily enjoying espresso again, thanks a lot!

    On mine, it says that the dot on the bottom side of the upper carrier has to be aligned with the red dot at the top. You did point out that the side with the dot has to be pointing down, but it can go down in 1 of 2 directions (and 1 of those directions is not correct, according to my instructions). Just thought I'd mention it.

  • @irishlostboy
    @irishlostboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think something that was missed in this (very good) video is the fact that on the bottom, when you unscrew the big burr, there is an adjustable collar that allows you to move your big burr portion of the machine tighter against your small burr or less tight. If you reassemble your grinder and find it grinds more coarsely than before, you need to unscrew the big burr, and open the collar part. It is the smooth part of the lower section. It is easy to miss, because the portions are so well machined you think it is just a one piece lower body.
    Sorry I cannot describe it better, and hope it helps people troubleshoot their grinder.

    There is another portion of this grinder that can be unscrewed. It's the top portion (the part that has the red dot) from the main body. Mine started coming loose, and I accidently cross threaded it, and now I've got problems.

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only thing you can do is run a very small sharp object like a dental pick around the thread to try and straighten things out and clear the grooves...then super carefully keeping it level to the thread try to screw it on. Once it's on right, work it back and forth a few times to ensure the thread is clean and straight.

    Got a coffee grinder with aliexpress. From 1 to 9 clicks clings with one side of the millstone. And with only 10 clicks, it scrolls without touching. Do you think this is a marriage? In my opinion, the shaft is not even! I thought from the first click there should be free rotation if everything is well centered. I haven’t ground coffee yet and hasn’t taken apart. I don't know what to do, whether to return it to the seller or not.

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I couldn't see a way of doing that because you would have to know the position of the adjustment ring is correct before tightening it and I couldn't see any way that could be done. Once the grinder is burr touching point, you would have to loosen the adjustment ring completely to be able to adjust it. See assembly at point 8m 56s...

    In this video, we have to remove the inner burrs before we can unscrew the body/outer burr.

  • @gamester711
    @gamester711 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! My JX-Pro is on the way. I take it that calibration is unnecessary. Just rotate to 0 (clockwise-fully closed) and count clicks/numbers counter-clockwise. If you remember how many numbers/clicks, just go in either direction to change your grind. Dave, when you reset yours by two turns, that would put you at 80 clicks, or about 1,000 microns, right? I don't do espresso, but isn't 1,000 a bit coarse? I brew French press, and may use a Virtuoso+ set to #16, or about 600 microns. Something seems off.

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I go 1.5 turns sometimes a bit less

    • @motouringID
      @motouringID 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IMO, it's different micron measurement. Your 80 clicks~1000 microns is Burr gap and it doesn't predict coffee particle size reliably. If you want to correlate between those two microns, you way want to use KRUVE sifter to see the coffee particle size

  • @3eggerfpv397

    • @DaveCorbey

      I probably could have don't but they are just numbers....it didn't matter that much to me. I know that 1.5 turns I think it was gets me in the espresso ballpark and that a click is 6 ish seconds on the shot, so I get in the ballpark then pull a shot and adjust dose for fine control (of shot time/weight) from there.

    • @DaveCorbey
      @DaveCorbey  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      From memory I am pretty sure I had to go approx 1.5 turns from closed, to be in the espresso range. Different beans will need different grind settings e.g. A brazilian coffee needs to be ground much coarser than an El Salvador for the same flow rate in an espresso machine.
