    Should you buy the iPad Mini 6? Well, it depends. Here is my 3-week review of the iPad Mini 6. I just spent 3 strange weeks with the iPad Mini 6. If you love tablets, like I do, you’ve probably seen SOME people say the Mini is a terrible iPad, they would never get it, or they’re taking it back.
    And others think it’s an incredible iPad for them, and it’s exactly what they want - so... how can that be? How is it possible for people to have SUCH DRASTICALLY different opinions about the iPad Mini 6?

    I think a lot of people buy into the idea of an iPad as a laptop replacement (at least aspirationally)-thanks to tireless marketing in that regard by Apple-and those people are having a knee-jerk reaction to the mini 6. But a lot of us don’t-or have tried (and tried) and just prefer reaching for a MacBook for hard-core productivity tasks. And once you’ve learned that, try as you might, you really don’t like using your iPad with a keyboard (smart, magic, Bluetooth, or whatever), smaller iPads just become better iPads. I traded in my Air 4 for a mini 6 last week. I can’t put it down. I don’t even want to put it down. The points you made about weight, size, and ergonomics, they really do make the mini 6 unexpectedly delightful. The last time I remember that feeling this strongly with a new Apple device was my rev.1 iPod in 2001. It’s a feeling I never felt during five years I spent using larger iPads Pro with keyboards. I can honestly say this is my favorite tablet ever. And I don’t really think it’s niche, either. It seems to me the only thing that people point to in justifying calling it niche is that it’s harder to use with an external keyboard. If a keyboard is the whole selling point for an iPad, why not just buy a MacBook instead?

      I think you completley miss the fact that most people buy ipads for watching movies and content. And we want nice big screens for that. Smaller ipad not better ipad. I have no need for a keyboard because the 12.9 has a full size virtual keyboard, plus i can draw right on the screen. Smaller Defeats the whole purpose for me. Do you have any regard for how uncomfortable it is to use a laptop laying down or being in a car or standing up, to watch a movie or just doing anything. The selling point is the fact that you can take it off the keyboard. You ever tried taking you Macbook Screen off the keyboard when you needed something more convenient or you wanted to draw on it? Didnt think so.. This is why apple sells millions and you comment on youtube videos lol

      I only have an iPad Pro 9.7" as my main device as my computer is a 12 year old MacBook Pro I rarely use as it's too old. I plan to buy a new Mac at some point. But using my iPad or my iPhone XR has taught me that iOS is NOT a computer replacement. I am buying a new iPad next week for my birthday and am really split between the new Mini or the iPad Pro 11" because of this reason, the M1 is fantastic but also utterly wasted in that iPad Pro because of iOS's limitations, so then the Mini makes more sense as an iPad.

    • @chicagocarless
      @chicagocarless 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KiLLJOY1056 Thank you for agreeing with me. Like you, I believe that people love iPads for mobile content consumption. And as I said in my comment, I love doing everything on my mini, as I’m sure many people do, because of its ergonomics and compact form factor. So no, you cannot generalize that the whole world loves larger iPads. That’s kind of my whole point. And you seem to have missed it completely.

    I’m a 3rd year Premed/Biochemistry student, so most, if not all of my classes don’t necessarily require a laptop, but I do need to take notes. After having the mini, most of the time, I ended up just shoving that sucker in my coat pocket without a backpack and going to lectures. I haven’t felt any limits in taking notes, besides the smaller display, but that’s just nitpicking considering I don’t need to even take a backpack with me. It’s honestly a gamechanger from my 11” iPad Pro that I used during quarantine at home.

    I bought an iPad Mini - 8 years ago. I did not like it for browsing - I use my 14" laptop for that.
    I use my Mini almost exclusively when I travel for the following:
    #1- as a GPS unit in the car - simply the best GPS ever !
    #2 - as a side kick or mirror screen to view video a/w my laptop while on the road
    #3 - & as an Reader
    Over all these years that is about all I have used the mini for (I don't game)
    I will likely buy the new Mini 6 as my old one is on it's last leg.

    I upgraded from the previous 11inch ipad pro to the new ipad mini. No matter what ipad i was using, connecting the apple pencil to the ipad drained the ipad's battery. if you dont use the apple pencil, the mini lasts me about 2-3 full days with moderate to heavy use, the pro lasted about 3.5-4 days with moderate to heavy use. Honestly the battery isn't really an issue unless you're constantly playing power hungry games on the go all the time. I was able to play CoD mobile with an xbox controller and airpods connected for 8 hours starting at 75% battery on the mini with no loss in performance - even as the battery hit 10%. the battery in this thing is actually amazing for how small and light it is. if this means anything to you, I'd say you can confidently leave your home with the ipad mini at 35-40% battery and know it will get you through a full day of heavy use if you're not playing games

Apple was a jerk for that and they will only give $550 for a trade in. Even with the scaling issues the Mini is worth it just to be able to comfortably take it anywhere, and hold it in one hand. I have no plans to buy the mini 6 but I enjoy watching tech videos and learning new things. I appreciate this review so much more than all the others that bashed this device too quickly and very much unfairly. I love that you reviewed this device for what it is and not so much as in comparison to larger and/or more expensive devices. Your videos are some of my most fave. #TFS🙂

    love it as a concept idea and everything, but sadly I had to return 2 units back to Apple thanks to pressure distortion issues with the display, the 1st time it was only at the right side of the screen, then 2nd time the display distortion was everywhere...very disappointing.. if the issue persists with the 3rd replacement Ill be getting a refund as this is not acceptable... when I was taking notes with the Apple Pencil 2 it was just horrible... ripples almost all over...disappointing

    Great video. I agree with your assessment. The only thing I’ll add is I think the hardcore Mini enthusiast will already have some type of larger iPad. Those people all experienced times where they wished their phones were bigger and their iPad was smaller. There are activities that sit perfectly between a phone and regular iPad. Apple ruined the experience through neglect, making experiencing those activities on the Mini less enjoyable. I hope Apple gets it now.

    I want this one to keep up with my construction projects. Pictures. (Not necessarily take pictures with it . Transfer from iPhone 12 max. ) keep up w my expenses. (Self employed). My kids have the regular iPads and I don’t pick them up. This seems like the right size to keep me on it. Pro is nice but I won’t want to pick tablets like a clipboard. Going for the 256gb at a discounted price.

    I have had the iPad mini 6 about a week now. It’s great EXCEPT for two features
    1.) the Touch ID doesn’t work for me reliably… maybe, just maybe 1in 20 attempts… I’m always being switched to my ‘digital code’ to access.
    2.) if your using your iPad in landscape mode (as I do) most of the time, the volume buttons are inconveniently placed. Portrait is OK, but landscape just doesn’t fit well for the position of the volume buttons.

    I love my mini as well as my regular sized tablets. I agree that the folks grousing about the size, well, they need to look elsewhere 😂 The mini fits into purses, backpacks, etc., and is great for travel and for my car Bluetooth to broadcast my audiobooks and podcasts, etc. I know my phone and larger iPads can also do that, but the mini is just right for my needs and is my go-to. I can listen to tunes while I work and then read a kindle book or article or browse websites/shop on lunch hour or breaks. Being of a certain age, I like the extra screen real estate vs a phone for these things. Glad to have the usb-c and the display is amazing! No complaints here. I also love tablets ❤

    As for "jelly scrolling", I think scrolling in general must go. Not to mention my eyes hurt every time I need to scroll while looking for something specific, and I ultimately need to scroll and stop, then scroll and stop aging to see things without hurting my eyes. This is probably my own problem, but seriously. Let go of this concept already, people! This is faulty bullshit we all got caught in. I regret the moment they invented the scrollbar so much. I remember visiting a site where there was always a link in the footer of the page that I was looking for, but since they recently implemented this damn "infinite scrolling" thing, I couldn't reach it! I was scrolling for an eternity for it to finally stop loading shit and let me see the footer.

    I haven't bought an iPad since the 1st generation iPad. I liked the mini, but said I wouldn't buy one unless it got the look of the Pro, and an USB C port.
    Now it just has to show up.
    The only thing it needs now is a 120 Hz OLED display.

  • @radi0aktivetoy
    @radi0aktivetoy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Respect your opinion but I had a completely different experience, especially when it comes to panel quality. I couldn't notice jelly scrolling, but the uniformity and ghosting of the panel was a deal breaker and I ended up returning it. Otherwise I liked the size and the performance. The backlight wasn't even and the colors looked terribly washed out. Maybe I'm just an OLED acolyte, as I'm typing this from a Galaxy Tab S6 -- which doesn't have the style or speed of an iPad but has an unbelievable screen perfect for videos and content consumption. If there was an OLED iPad in the mini size, I would undoubtedly adore it!

    To those out there who haven’t even held the mini and their saying ‘it’s too small’ well it looks too small in the video I mean even I see it too small (just to mention that I don’t have the iPad Mini but I want it but also that doesn’t mean I’m saying smth that idk if it’s true or not bc this is actually true) but if u actually hold it in ur hands u see that it’s actually the perfect size. Plus it’s the device itself that is small not the display and the size of the display is what will make the iPad very very hard to use or easy not the actual size of the actual device. Sry if this didn’t make sense

    Been using the iPad Pro 12 inch since the beginning of 2020 as not just a tablet but my laptop and general computer. Although I enjoy it I recently got a M1 Mac mini and part of me is considering going smaller because I use the Apple Pencil a lot and sometimes the Pro almost feels too big. Feels like this is more ideal size for taking notes, mark up and reading or photo editing.

      Apple definitely knocked it out of the park with the iPad mini (6th generation). It is powerful, yet portable at the same time. The only Android option available right now is the Galaxy Z Fold3. I know that the Z Fold3 is a foldable phone, but I think it’s the closest we are going to get in terms of a Galaxy Tab mini.

    Small? I'd say, this iPad mini is very close to being "too big" for me. This is the maximum size I can tolerate for pocket device. I'd be glad if it was just a bit smaller actually, or if it had back cover the way previous iPad model was (would be easier to lift it from the table with one hand). If it's the bigger size you are after, there are other options for you, so please stop saying "too small".

    I’ve played with it in the store it’s excellent but…needed to be as long as the iPad mini 5, and needed a non jelly scrolling screen. It’s obvious when scrolling, I thought well maybe because it’s a display model at the Apple Store but after researching it’s a huge issues. Why no 128GB model? Apple screws you subjecting you to 256GB and on top of that 5G model is too much money making the 11” pro the better buy then buying refurbished on apple, the 256GB model with 5G it’s not reasonable from Apple.
