My advice as an IPad Mini 6 user of almost one year, WAIT till Black Friday/Christmas season to upgrade since usually places like Best Buy will take $100 off the IPad Mini 7 for holiday promotion plus with the $230 IPad Mini 6 trade in Value you can get the iPad mini 7 for under $250 for the 128gb model
Great idea! Is Apple realistically the best and easiest place to trade in/sell used iPads? Least hassle for the average person…. I realize you won’t get top dollar, but enough…
Dropping Pencil 2 support is a deal breaker for me. I use my pencil regularly, and the lazy spec bump ALMOST makes me don’t want to upgrade. Dropping the Pencil 2 support solidifies it. I don’t need the “Pro” pencil feature and USB C pencil doesn’t have pressure detection and is such a hassle to charge
Dang,,,, that’s really lame. Apple loves forcing people to upgrade…. 🤬🤬🤬 For my 13” M4, I was excited about the new pro pencil features, but not for the mini. I only use it for highlighting ebooks…. 🤬🤬
Same. I love my Gen 2 Pencil so I’ll be buying a Mini 6 refurb or used for now. Maybe when I eventually upgrade my iPads, but something tells me that my M2 Pro will last a very long time, as most of my iPads have.
I upgraded from mini 6 to mini 7 on day one. I've been running out of space on my 64Gb mini 6, I want Apple Intelligence when it releases and I want to use the Pencil Pro. My iPad Air M2 is my art/animation workstation. My mini is everything else, especially a sketchpad on the go for developing ideas for full projects on the Air. I've had the 7 for 2 days and it's fantastic!
I upgraded from the Mini 6 to the 7, but only because Best Buy was offering a $260.00 trade-in offer from 64gb to 128gb. It is basically the same device. I hope the battery is better because it was terrible on the Mini 6. I don't use the pencil.
Bought it when announced, received it the first day, then returned it the next. Fun to hold, a bit snappier yes, more storage on entry level model. But the overall experience has not changed from the Mini 6, which I bought repeatedly and struggled to like. The display is the serious drawback, the scaling of text and icons is too small and creates eye strain. 60Hz issues and lack of peak brightness compound these problems. It's fine for checking email, messages, TH-cam etc, allowing casual typing but anything lengthy is cumbersome. This is an expensive product for casual use, especially if you add the Apple Pencil Pro. By comparison the iPad Pro M4 feels nearly as light to hold longterm, offers vastly superior display and speakers, and doesn't strain the eyes. The key benefit of the Mini is that it feels portable, and therefore less prone to damage or loss for casual carry. But the iPhone Pro Max is pocketable and has it beat on all those counts as well. Maybe a good entry level option, especially for specific niche applications. It depends on your use case, budget and expectations. ProMotion, thinner bezels and quad-speakers are the three features that might tempt me to try this form factor again.
I pulled the trigger immediately. I bought the 256K which cost $600 and got a $230 trade-in for my 64K iPad Mini 6 for an out of pocket $370. For me, that’s a bargain. I get a faster processor, four times the memory, a faster USB , pencil Pro support and a brand new device. PS - Arrived Wed AM. After using for two days, to say I’m pleased is understatement. Great product. Excellent decision moving up from the Mini 6.
I’ve also got a Mini 6 & considering upgrading. I’ve NEVER been happy with my Mini 6 performance - at all. And I only use it for reading. The 7 is truly a better, noticeable & worthwhile upgrade?
Great review. Benchmarks are nonsense - so happy to finally hear someone talking sense. I think a lot of your "competion" review channels like to flannel on about benchmarking and chip speeds in order to find something "interesting" to say. A real-world user experience review which is not trying to be trendy or pandering to sponsors. Instant subscribe.
I’m a happy owner of the iPad Mini 6, though it sometimes feels a bit slow in certain tasks. While the refresh does make the iPad faster and generally better, for me, it’s not enough to make the switch just yet. For such a small device with a big price tag, it deserves more than just a faster chip. I’ll wait a couple more years before buying a new Mini.
Upgraded because I lost my Apple Pencil a few weeks ago, so needed a new one and with the mini 7 being compatible with the new pencil pro, and being able to trade in my mini 6, which made it worth it for me.
May I ask how is the GPS without cellular data?. I will be upgrading my mini 6 for a 7 with more storage and cellular and plan to use it among other things as a car GPS, but as of now I wouldn't want to pay for data.
@@sameersheriff7078Most flight schools require you to get an iPad to use during your flight training. It’s become basically a life line. It’s a GPS, flight computer, and weather radar all in one convenient package. There are practically no GA pilots flying today without one.
I impulsively bought it but in the week wait I've decided to return it. It was an update and even with the trade in value It's not worth the total cost. It's because it needs a new pen and I'm wasting a perfectly good 2nd gen pen. Not worth the cost difference so it's now all going back. Haven't even opened the boxes which arrived yesterday.
Personally speaking I think its not great the 7 mini doesn't work with the 2nd gen pencil but does work with the USB-C one. They arguably aren't a frequent upgrade device as say a phone or tablet, so I think its slightly out of order they don't support it. Why not? Its still magnetic. Its still functions 95% the same way. Feels like a cynical quest for additional spend at the till.
The charging magnet had to be moved to fit the camera in landscape and the Apple Pencil 2 wouldn’t align to charge on the new pro and air iPads. Now to have clear distinction between pencils they wanted to drop the Apple Pencil gen 1 and 2. So to have the pro work with the mini 7 the charger had to be moved and the pencil 2 won’t align with it. It sucks as in practice the new features of the Apple Pencil pro isn’t really an improvement. The pencil gestures are more awkward than buttons and the barrel roll is nice, but it’s so rarely used Wacom removed that feature from their new pens. Apple hover is a tech added to the screen why the M2 pro already had it with Apple Pencil 2 and the usb c Apple Pencil supports it on the newer iPads.
I’d be more inclined to upgrade if the Apple Pencil 2 was compatible, I believe it would be the cheapest option to get on board the Apple Intelligence bandwagon without expensive contracts.
The problem with the mini is it’s priced like an oled, 120hz , Face ID device at $530 after tax. I think this current device should be $349 and $399 with cellular. It’s almost $700 for a base model with cellular
@@lizcardenas3578 I do understand it from a business standpoint. I’m in a wheelchair. Those motorized ones cost $35k. No way it even cost $5k, realistically a full Tesla cost $35k. But alas “then buy one from Tesla then” same with the mini “buy the mini with an oled from Samsung then”
Upgraded from iPad 3 to 6, and it was refreshing. I don’t see the need to go from iPad 6 to 7. My iPad 6 is still very capable, and the force to replace my pencil for pencil pro without a Pro Display was the deal breaker for me.😔
Wait till Black Friday/ Christmas season since places like Best Buy will take $100 off IPads and you still get the $230 trade in value. That’s what I did last year when I got the Mini 6
If mini 7 have either at least 90hz screen or it is OLED, no brainer upgrade for me. Now..... now it is essentially mini 6 with Apple Intelligence, not great, not terrible.
I upgraded from the mini 6 to the Mini 7. In my opinion Yes upgrade. I decided to upgrade because of the increase in Memory, the A17 Pro processor, 256 gb and cellular as well as the USBC transfer speed. So I think I am set for a few years. I’ve been running the 18.1 beta and I like the released features of Apple Intelligence. I think the mini7 is the better choice for almost everyone.
I happily upgraded my 6. First time I have ever pre ordered an apple device. I wanted the increased storage to 512 as well as the GPS. I foolishly opted to save a few dollars when I bought my 6 and regretted it almost instantly. I use my iPad mini every single day, the apple pencil was a game changer on that size of device. It has completely replaced paper note taking and writing, similar in size to my preferred note book it is the perfect go anywhere device. I also use it extensively for reading as well as research. Every single time I hear someone say jelly scroll I get irritated. Jelly scroll MAY be present but, it IS NOT a factor. If I scroll my M4 Pro Macbook Pro I can't read it either so who really cares if the screen is also a little wavy at the same time ? If you are reading this and trying to decide if you should buy an iPad mini, I say go for it, IF, it is the right device for your needs. Over two years of daily use of my mini 6 there is only one thing that has ever annoyed me and the is the scaling of many web pages, I have yet to find a single thing that I can't do on my ipad. That being said, I am not trying to do things on it that are better suited to an iPad pro.
I'm waffling on my purchase decision, because I've been WAITING for the Mini 7. For me, the bezels and same display is the 'problem'. I don't necessarily have a problem with it day to day. I have a problem with Apple taking the easy way out. It seems they are burning through their backlog inventory, vs. investing in customer experience. Also, and for the first time, I had eye strain when trying out the M4 iPad Pro. The OLED was so stark bright, it was giving me headaches; I had to reduce the white point balance by 30!. Note, I've had iPhones and OLED TVs with zero issues. I hope the dual OLED isn't producing an overkill effect. I say all this, in case they leverage the same tech for future iPads. Has anyone else experienced this? Cheers
Was waiting for the mini 7, I’m a pilot and just like the small form factor. After I saw no screen improvements, I just bought a used cellular mini 6 for $250. And I’ll wait til they update for a brighter screen. The mini 6 is already so much better than what I had. But 7 wasn’t enough to justify a brand new price
How has the 6 held up? I’m assuming your using it for ForeFlight? I haven’t had a iPad but after using my instructors for a couple lessons I’m sold on getting one. But I’m now wondering if the extra price of the 7 will be worth it over the 6.
@@Jackson-ev6vq so I haven't used it too much yet for flying, but I have for some flight planning and weather research. It's a huge upgrade from my old one iPad. The speed upgrade using foreflight is very noticeable and foreflight actually shows more detail on the maps compared to my old one...maybe because of rendering speeds. I mostly use it for flying and flight planning, and the 64gb seems to be more than enough for my usage. I'd say find a deal on this 6 and skip the 7 until they give us a brighter screen👍
I'm planning to get the ipad mini 7 as my first ipad. Firstly, I really love its size which is also the reason why I'm leaning to the mini. I have a macbook for heavy work but I just wanted to use the mini as an extention of my work especially while on the go or travelling. I am a social media manager so I can use the mini for quick photo/video editing and manage my client's socials. I also want to use it for media consumption, emails, taking notes, journalling, planning and do some art and sketching for fun. I'm still thinking whether to get 128 or the 256 one. Btw, love this review! I'm binge watching all ipad mini reviews. :)
Have you considered an Air as a first iPad? I own and love the mini but I also have a Pro 13". For the things that you say you need them for the bigger screen like the 11". I'm a designer and the mini is like a utility knife, can do everything if you need it but I'm really really considering getting an 11" Pro for reading design books, sketching and taking notes as well, but also portable and being able to fit next to my keyboard and mouse at my desk; the 13" is awesome but not as much with other devices as a system.
@@ashzerodude there's no point in doing that because there's only a $50 difference, and you are getting a 2-generation upgrade in chip technology, a 3X faster storage, 2X USB transfer speed and less jelly scroll. If you buy it used at a great price, maybe, but I would go for the newer tech. We can always opt to not use the AI features or disable them.
I pre-ordered and have been using it as my "desk iPad" - specifically during the work week. It enables me to keep a lot of eco-system functionality without having to pick up my phone 100x a day. I paired the USB-C Apple Pencil with it.
Great Video Mark and yes I have hit the subscribe button. My dilemma as an iPad mini 5th Gen user is whether or not to go for the 6 or the 7? With the release of the 7, the price of the 6 has come down so it's a difficult one.
one thing you might want to include is that when you trade in your ipad6 for ipad7, you get a discount (trade -in value). That should persuade people to upgrade as well
I don’t know how your country is, but iPads trade in value is very low. In my latest cycle of upgrades, Apple offered practically the same amount of trade in value for an iPhone mini 13 128gb as they did for my 11” iPad Pro M1 with 1tb of memory. I paid $1000 AUD for my iPhone and $2600 aud for my iPad Pro. They should not have the same trade in value. Apple seems to give good trade in value for iPhones, but other products not so much.
I loved my ipad mini 6 and used it every single day in the last 3 years, mainly for emails, emulation and content consumption. I used it more than my iphone 15 pro! I upgraded to the mini 7 just for that fact. Purchased the cellular version so I can use it as an infotainment system in my car with gps. Enjoying it so far. Especially the 128 gb upgrade and fast transferring files and roms. With a device I use so much, no worries now of future proofing.
Hi there. The huge disadvantage for me is digital Sim. I really need physical Sim due to my travel and often require only physical Sim Card replacement. Thanks for review.
Happy with my iPad Mini 6. I bought in march and for my use case is more than enough. I use to content consumption, taking notes during lectures and paired with the Magic Keyboard it becomes a low profile typing machine.
I've gone for a Mini 7 - I'm a researcher at a University and I'm looking forward to using it with my Mac workflow. And to FINALLY officially be going paperless and not having a million A5 notebooks lying around all over the place 🤣
I didn’t have a mini 6 but pulled the trigger on the 7. I tried going to full iPad Pro route with the keyboard as a laptop replacement. Just didn’t work for me. Was as heavy and as expensive as a laptop. Ended up not using it enough to justify the cost. The mini is great size, much cheaper, and is more focused on what iPads do great. Not trying to make it something it isn’t. What I really love is fits in a small sling bag with a foldable keyboard. Super minimal set up.
I upgraded from 2019’s Gen 5, so the differences between the 2 models is definitely worth it. Not sure I’d have upgraded if I was already using a Gen 6. Thanks for the content.
Watching this video on an iPad mini 6. I’m not going to upgrade though. I use this for content consumption and some web browsing. Because they didnt put PROmotion on there I have no reason to upgrade. Couldn’t care less about apple intelligence.
Sept. 2023 purchased Mini 6, 256, cellular, Apple Pencil 2, 3 years AppleCare. The $230 trade-in is a boon for the M6-64GB customers, but a loser for everyone else. Use case is note taking, reading, TH-cam, Hulu Tv, and social media. Not certain how AI will benefit on Mini. I have an 11” iPad Air Gen 5 with M1 that can do Apple Intelligence. For me the spec bump, Apple Penicil Pro cost, and meager trade-in offer does not have me upgrading. But then that’s just one man’s opinion. I have enjoyed year 1 with my M6. No regrets!
I upgraded from the iPad mini 5 and it's a solid upgrade. The iPad mini 7 feels much better than I thought it would with all the complaining I've been hearing online. Promotion/120hz is so overrated I've had 120hz phones for 4 years and it doesn't bother me at all switching back to 60hz. I'm grateful Apple has at least upgraded this because it's clear it's their neglected stepchild after 3 years. The 8 RAM upgrade is huge, more important than the CPU IMO.
I’m torn from going from my mini 6 to the 11 Air. I love the mini for portability, but the power of the Air seems really nice. I have always had minis.
I'm myopic, but this means that I actually see better when I get closer to the screen -- which in turn means that I need high resolution. Now you understand why I like the Mini series. Am an Apple user anyway. I held off on the 6 because of the jelly scrolling, but it now sounds like a compromise that I can live with. I don't even care about note-taking. I use it for the local library app which provides magazines and newspapers from around the world, and for video when horizontal. That's another advantage of the Mini; it weighs less. Greetings from Berlin.
Only if they didn’t put the same old 60Hz 500 nits jelly scroll screen I would upgrade. But they did. Devices with that bad screen, except a few Apple made things, are nearly impossible to find in stores these days. Good thing the pilots are going to like it though
Hello Mark, no! With gift vouchers and a trade in from my mini 4, I paid 129.00 for the 256gig. As the case for the 6 fits the 7, bought a brand new one in burnt orange from eBay for 25.00! Picking mine up from the Apple Store tomorrow. By the way, people are saying they not popular. In spite of the fact they don't come with a plug in the UK, Amazon had sold out of the WiFi only versions for the first couple of days of release!
I got one, I always loved the hand feel of the iPad mini, I like everything about the iPad mini 7, thought I wouldn’t mind paying more for an oled screen and pro motion
I picked up a mini 7 this afternoon. I bought a 6 when it first launched and it got a bit long in the tooth so picked up a new one. Jelly scrolling was really bad on my early iteration Mini 6 and it was getting slow - that combined with Apple Intelligence tempted me and I am so far happy. Jelly scrolling is much better - it's still there but if I wasn't looking for it I don't know that I would notice. Interestingly, as I was talking to the Apple associate when I was picking it up the said that the Mini is their most popular Ipad. I had agreed that it is nitch product but I found her comment interesting.
Received my ipad mini 7 today and just waiting for it to set up as I watched your video. Love your honest straight to the point content, and yes I've subscribed.. Having owned a really old iPad that I can no longer upgrade as ios dosen't support it.. Plus I like the iPad mini's form factor.
I have the new iPad mini and am so glad I got it. It's snappier for sure and I love the form factor. 3 years it's time. Will you get a new one Mark? Also, I hope they don't wait another 3 years to upgrade!!!
I'm excited the Mini 7 is the same size as the 6. That's a good thing to know moving forward, if I ever need to replace my Mini 6. I use mine as a Kindle, reading a ton of books or watching TH-cam late at night in bed. I run Lightroom in the field while on a photoshoot, and I don't use it as my primary LR editing tool. So, I have no plans to upgrade, but if I need to in the future, it's nice to have options, and know the custom leather case I made will work on the new device.
Pilot here! I started my career a year ago, and all this time, I have been waiting for the iPad Mini 7 to come out. This is great news as the form factor is perfect for cramped cockpits and portability sake (though we don't really carry it in our pants 😂). The iPad Mini 6 was still a great choice, but it still being full price after almost 4 years was a really big drawback.
Mark, I have to say you are my favorite reviewer and the videos I most enjoy! Thank you for all you do to make decisions easier for me and my family and bro, do I relate to your conclusion on device reviews. I am an iPad mini fan, always have been… but for now I’m skipping the mini 7 😢. I have my iPad Pro M4 13” which I truly love and M2 MB Air which is competing for “me-time” with my iPad Pro. But for light reading, travel, middle of the night thoughts to jot down (yeah, crazy I know), for some rough drafts of documents, and easy document scanning and PDF editing - all of the above is simpler and more comfortable on my mini 6. I would’ve loved a new ProMotion display and that 120hz, as well as you…the mini keyboard would’ve been so cool! I might upgrade when battery is deteriorating on the 6, and have as a smart home hub…. Which I use at such as well, or I should say my wife does. 😂 We’re in the US, FL to be precise but you’re my go to channel and respect your opinions as they align with my thought process…. Which not many people get 🙄🤭 - Thanks again, man!
I don’t have either. If I wanted to get a mini I’d go with the 6. I could probably get a 6 mini 256 for less than a 7 mini 128. Don’t think the 6 mini users should upgrade. Someone made the point to me apple doesn’t make 120 Hz IPS display. Are there any android devices that are over 60hz and not OLED?
i guess one of the main reason for me, why i would consider to switch from the mini 6 to the mini 7 would definitely be the main storage which come with 128 as an base model luckily.
such a great review and finally i can make my decision - to upgrade my mini 6 (purchased in April 22) to mini 7. Getting a 125gb would definitely helps, a faster chip and new function deploys, what else could I ask for. The only concern is the old case I have and I would love to keep using it so it’s great news that they are compatible🎉
One of the things I found annoying is here in UK we don’t get a power plug with the mini 7 like they do in the U.S. I still bought it though, the cellular model in space grey.
Had the new mini 7 for a couple of days now and to be honest can’t really tell the difference. Upgraded because I use it daily (just home use) and the battery life was falling on the 6, plus Apple gave me a good trade in so it was a no brainer… The jelly scrolling was never a problem for me as I usually use it in landscape and I already have the pencil pro (bought it with my iPad Air 13) so I’m quite happy.
Was hoping for a better screen. I already have an m2 iPad Pro and an iPhone 14 Pro Max. So I’m used too the nicer screen. Who knows maybe I’ll get it and end up changing my mind.
I’m likely to upgrade from a base iPad mini 6 to a base iPad mini 7 w/ celldata… Bc I love my mini but miss having data on my iPad. Actually happy the 7 is a refresh of the 6, rather than redesign
Just upgraded the 6 to the 7. Got given the pencil pro for my birthday so I had to 😬. Had all the minis over the years and although I thought about the 11” M2 Air, which is a better device, I like the size, I already have accessories and I gain the AI aspect.
The main reason I’m thinking of upgrading from the mini 6 to the mini 7 is the 512gb of storage. Unfortunately, there seems to be an issue with inventory of the 512gb cellular versions because it’s out of stock every place I’ve looked so far.
I got theblue on. I am happy so far and its better drawing on it than my samsung s6 lite. I had £100 also knocked of its price. It costed me £400. I am happy so far and I like the pro pencil I got also.
So I have an iPad mini 6 that I use for media consumption. TH-cam, book reading, audio book listening. It's a great form factor for mobility and small arthritic hands over the larger heavier iPads. I don't need to upgrade to the iPad mini 7pro because it doesn't have the OLED screen with pro motion and Face ID. Apple intelligence isn't here yet in Canada so we can't take advantage of that. I will keep the mini 6 unless I trade it for an 11in iPad Pro and absorb the much higher cost in order to have the additional features
Considering upgrading with $260 trade-in at Best Buy, mainly for more storage and memory but also long-term software support. The Mini 7 is all the tablet I could need for want 😁
Bearing in mind I have used Apple products since 1990. Over the years I've had 4 iPad mini's and instead of waiting for the iPad mini 7 I bought a Samsung Tab S9 which comes with the S pen. The Oled screen quality was the game changer. It makes a huge difference and still does. I wouldn't buy the mini 7 for that reason alone and secondly yet the purchase of another iPencil would be required. Too expensive overall.
A practical & meaningful difference is that the 7 has double the memory as the 6, so if you're annoyed by apps having to reload themselves when switching between them, the 7 has better capacity to hold them in memory.
To answer You & the Thumbnail: Wanted to buy this as a first time iOS user let alone as a Mini one user BUT I am disappointed with the "Hurriedly put together to get rid of excess A17 Pro Chips" iPad Mini 7 (this) and may just wish for a iPad Mini 7 Pro to be released (as a serious product). Both answers = NO. Appreciate your videos much, Sir 🙏
I just got my iPad mini 6 this summer and I love it so cool that’s an iPad is so portable. However I do on occasion miss a bigger screen so I wouldn’t necessarily upgrade to another mini. But maybe just buy a bigger iPad to have as well.
Great video and great useful work in general. Many thanks! To answer your question, I do not have an iPad yet (any type of iPad), but the iPad mini seems to be the right fit for me. So, I'm going get a refurbished iPad mini 6 with cellular connection as they are now getting quite a bit less expensive. To me, it's a great, less expensive way to this interesting piece of hardware to my toolbox.
I have the ipad mini 6 and it is just fine. I wish it had a bigger hard drive. It has 256gb. I never had jelly roll issues. If the 7 had a better battery life, a larger hard drive or a better screen I'd probably upgrade.
Having an iPad Pro 11 with M2 chip for work, I will trade in my personal 2018 pro for the new 7. I can use it on holiday and for making notes whilst having my work pro in a Logitech keyboard for using as a computer. Sorted.
Stick with version 6 I think, at least in the short term...it's my travel ipad for reading and stream...I have the new ipad pro for everything else...once \I've used Apple Intelligence I may change my mind but would rather wait for version 8.
I’ve been torn whether or not to spend the money on it. My 6 works fine, however, I live on this thing between school, work, etc.. might be worth the upgrade.
I’m in the market for an iPad and feel the iPad mini fits my needs. I tried using the ipad10 and Samsung galaxy tab 7+ but found them to be too big The a17pro may not be perfect but it’s seems like a step in the right direction
I’ve had a 120Hz iPhone since pro motion came out and I’ve had the mini 6 for 2 years. I love pro motion on my phone but I don’t care for it on my iPad mini or my MacBook.
This was the best video for helping me make the decision to upgrade from 6 to 7. Thank you! It’s easy to underestimate how ai and apple intelligence will become baseline in our lives overnight.
I have an iPad Pro M2 sadly (or not sad because I love it) so despite the Mini 7 being out now, it’s probably best for me to get the Mini 6 just so I don’t have to buy another Apple Pencil since I use mine a lot. Now you can get them used or refurbished for $300-400 USD.
I find it hard to want to upgrade since I bought a mini6 9 months ago. The 10 gbps would be nice, and I like the future proofing of the A17 Pro.... but honestly I would rather just spend a bit more and get an 11" Air at this point. I'm happy where I am and will wait to see if a mini8 switches things up.
Do you use an iPad mini at work?
Is there a difference in battery life? Because of the better chip?
I use iPad Mini 6 for leisure & gaming. I was so disappointed as the iPad mini A17 didn't fix some issues after 3 years.
I have relegated my mini 6 to work and my new mini 7 for personal use

I can’t fathom why Apple refuses to release a truly “PRO” mini…. 🤬😤😭🤬😭😤🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🫤🫤
Enjoy!
I’ve also got a Mini 6 & considering upgrading. I’ve NEVER been happy with my Mini 6 performance - at all. And I only use it for reading.
The 7 is truly a better, noticeable & worthwhile upgrade?
Erm its the same
@@drjones762I think you’re confusing what the iPad mini is. if you don’t use your iPad mini now what’s gonna make you use the other more
Great review.

Thank you! And "flannel on" is a great phrase. I'm using that.
Same. I hope they add ProMotion and a better screen in the next one.
Upgraded because I lost my Apple Pencil a few weeks ago, so needed a new one and with the mini 7 being compatible with the new pencil pro, and being able to trade in my mini 6, which made it worth it for me.
Turn on “reduce motion” to make transitions appear faster and smoother due the low refresh rate. Really! Try it.
So you have to fix it by yourself with aditional steps. What a "wonderful" gadget
No one if defending Apple for their poor decision on the refresh rate. But it’s nice to share suggestions and tips that can help.
Yes, I do this too! :) big help for 60hz apple products
I'm a pilot and I strongly confirm .. it's the best companion for EFBs and advanced assisted navigation
mate if anyone knows pilots drivin their planes are constantly distracted with ipads they'll try not to ever travel in those flights lol
@@sameersheriff7078 And obviously you are NOT a pilot.
@@MrWinger1951 ur right but even if i were one wont be using iPad while flying lol
I’m very confused about the “jelly scrolling” I’ve had the iPad mini 6 for like 2 years now and I’ve never noticed anything of the sort lol
The Pro pencil doesn't cost more than the regular anymore on Amazon anyways.
Exactly, shoving this pencil pro down people's throats is just ridiculous.
The problem with the mini is it’s priced like an oled, 120hz , Face ID device at $530 after tax. I think this current device should be $349 and $399 with cellular. It’s almost $700 for a base model with cellular
💯
Yes exactly!!!
My iPad 6 is still very capable, and the force to replace my pencil for pencil pro without a Pro Display was the deal breaker for me.😔
Upgrading because I am getting the good trade in value for my current mini 6.
still its a same ipad that ur buying !!! trade values are simply a way to tempt you into getting stuff that you don't actually want !!!
Wait till Black Friday/ Christmas season since places like Best Buy will take $100 off IPads and you still get the $230 trade in value. That’s what I did last year when I got the Mini 6
@@jordanwilliams1546 FOMO??
Upgrading to anything from ipad mini 2 will be good
It’s unacceptable you can’t use Pencil 2 with mini 7.
Looking forward to using the cellular version as a phone/tablet. Still rocking with a 12 mini.
#teamMini
That being said, I am not trying to do things on it that are better suited to an iPad pro.
ive waited for mini for so long, almost bought the 6 few weeks ago, luckily i waited a little longer lol bought the 7 so fast
I’m probably sticking with my Mini 6 until the battery really starts to decline. Not enough yet to entice me to upgrade.
The mini is perfect for me as an aircraft maintenance engineering.
Yeah I heard it got better with some fixes with jello scrolling but that’s not a big deal I don’t understand why so many people are fixated on this
I'm planning to get the ipad mini 7 as my first ipad.
Go for the 256. Might not get another update for a few years if any at all so it’ll be better to havw more GBs now.
@@GreeneGuyTV Thank you!
If you like saving money, the 6 with higher storage would be a pretty solid purchase and you won't have ai shoved at you too heavily.
I don’t even watch this channel on a daily basis and I still subscribed lol I’ll stick with my iPad Pro 2022 12.9
No regrets!
I won't be upgrading to the mini 7. If it had had Stage Manager with external display support, then maybe. But like this, what for?
I upgraded from the iPad mini 5 and it's a solid upgrade. The iPad mini 7 feels much better than I thought it would with all the complaining I've been hearing online. Promotion/120hz is so overrated I've had 120hz phones for 4 years and it doesn't bother me at all switching back to 60hz. I'm grateful Apple has at least upgraded this because it's clear it's their neglected stepchild after 3 years. The 8 RAM upgrade is huge, more important than the CPU IMO.
I upgraded from the mini 4 and i m enjoying it so far
@@deployz6744nice, I think it’s time. Still use IP mini 4. 😅
Faster screen refresh is not much useful aside from fast paced games. Otherwise, your eyes will just adjust or get used to it and won't notice it.
I agree.. I received my ipad mini 7 today and I'm extremely happy.
@@Xi_Jinping_is_Poohand reading and scrolling lol also the blacks look washed out and grey because the screen is LCD lmao

Great video. Mini 7 is a pocket powerhouse, small upgrades but still 10/10
I’m torn from going from my mini 6 to the 11 Air.
I’m a pilot with an iPad mini 6, I’m eager to get the 7 with a better battery.
New subbie here ❤ thanks I love your accent & reviews 😅
Welcome onboard!
Thanks for the very kind words!
I have an ipad 7. Not sure if I should get this or go with the Air. Really liking the size but I also prefer one that I can type with
I went from the IPad Pro 11 to the Mini 6 and I use the Mini 6 way more than I did the pro model, due to size and travel
Cant believe I got the flight trousers thing wrong.
Pilot here. I just got the 6 for now to buy time until we get more nits
I appreciate the kind words!
I never noticed jelly scrolling on the Mini 6
Is the battery life better in the 7 than the 6? I have the 6 and the battery life is horrible.
I have no intention of buying a mini model. I just like watching comparisons
Was hoping for a better screen. I already have an m2 iPad Pro and an iPhone 14 Pro Max. So I’m used too the nicer screen. Who knows maybe I’ll get it and end up changing my mind.
I’m likely to upgrade from a base iPad mini 6 to a base iPad mini 7 w/ celldata…
Bc I love my mini but miss having data on my iPad.
I finally subscribed. I honestly thought I was.
Ah, thanks!
Thanks Marc! After hearing that the apple pencil is no longer working, I am clear that I will skip the upgrade.
I was considering the iPad Mini 7 but no FaceID really does rule it out for me as I can't get TouchID to work with my fingers. 😒
That's what I did. Better trade on offer than Apple.
But maybe just buy a bigger iPad to have as well.
got this the other day and I'm editing video on luma fusion and its fabulous
Great video and great useful work in general. Many thanks!
To answer your question, I do not have an iPad yet (any type of iPad), but the iPad mini seems to be the right fit for me. So, I'm going get a refurbished iPad mini 6 with cellular connection as they are now getting quite a bit less expensive. To me, it's a great, less expensive way to this interesting piece of hardware to my toolbox.
I have an iPad 6 and have had it for over a year and never noticed that Jelly scrolling thing...
Pilots love iPad mini ❤
Absolutely. Who wants to fumble with a tea tray in the cockpit?
I have the ipad mini 6 and it is just fine. I wish it had a bigger hard drive. It has 256gb. I never had jelly roll issues. If the 7 had a better battery life, a larger hard drive or a better screen I'd probably upgrade.
Having an iPad Pro 11 with M2 chip for work, I will trade in my personal 2018 pro for the new 7. I can use it on holiday and for making notes whilst having my work pro in a Logitech keyboard for using as a computer. Sorted.
Not adding 120hz or at the very least OLED, shows Apple doesn’t care about the user base and only about the money.
I tried using the ipad10 and Samsung galaxy tab 7+ but found them to be too big
The a17pro may not be perfect but it’s seems like a step in the right direction
Back to the future Mark with that shirt
You don’t need pencil pro, You can get by with pencil usb-c which is much more rational buy for smth of a size of mini.
It’s a powerful mini iPad but what bugs me from buying is has to be the software OS Home Screen side they ain’t really using
I find it hard to want to upgrade since I bought a mini6 9 months ago. The 10 gbps would be nice, and I like the future proofing of the A17 Pro.... but honestly I would rather just spend a bit more and get an 11" Air at this point. I'm happy where I am and will wait to see if a mini8 switches things up.
