    Hi Lance,
    Great video. Thank you for putting it together.
    I enjoyed listening to your pros and cons on what you liked and disliked about the iPad mini.
    Picked one up and am starting to enjoy all it capabilities. But that padding is a nuisance.
    Great T-shirt by the way.
    Keep up the good work.

      I think it’s a valid criticism, but it’s definitely not something that renders the device useless or hard to use day-to-day. Thanks for the kind words - I’m glad you enjoyed the video!

      I don't completely disagree but you can't sit there and claim it's not noticeable. People should complain, Apple charges and Apple tax. There is literally a thing called Apple tax because their products are also over priced. We have to hold them to a standard. Jelly scroll should not be a thing

    The additional speaker holes are not purely decorative. They are there to port sound out if your grip covers the primary speaker holes. It’s a pretty smart design.

      I know I’m 2 years late to the party, but I got one on launch day and have loved it since. I use it mostly as a reader and a journal with the Apple Pencil. I have a Paperlike screen protector on mine and it feels almost identical to reading in a Kindle. It’s a wonderful reading and journaling experience. The only disappointment after all this time has been the battery life. I sure wish I didn’t have to charge it so often.

    I've always been a fan of the mini. I had every mini up to the 5, then I switched to the 11-inch 2018 because I thought it could replace my computer - not yet. Then I recently replaced my personal M1 Air with the 11-inch pro 2021 and Magic Keyboard (since I have a MacBook Pro M1 for work). I'm finding that it's a struggle to find a reason to reach for and actually use it - It's just too heavy and unwieldy compared to my 13 pro max (which is too small for reading and consuming content). Thinking of getting the mini, because I want something bigger than a phone that I'll actually reach for. I think the mini is the perfect replacement for an agenda or notebook.

      The holes are for when you holding it and covering the other set to prevent muffled sound. They are not ornamental and likely not airflow related as the mini relies on its aluminum case as a heat radiator.

    5:15 The buttons change depending on the direction (left/right, up/down); but showing clips of pressing the buttons in different orientation side by side will lead viewers to think that the buttons change depending on the orientation (landscape/portrait), which they don't, and because how people are more prone to take in visual information than textual information, these clips here pretty much acted as distractions for viewers to understand what you're explaining. For most people this shouldn't be a problem, but for some it can be more difficult to understand, than if you didn't include any clips at all.

      Great questions. I didn’t cover the cameras beyond Center Stage because they’re nothing too special. The large variety of productivity/entertainment uses for the Mini demonstrates how versatile it can be for so many people. Master of Nun - But Good at a lot of stuff - Fine by me!!!
    I bought an iPad Mini 2 Cellular 10 years ago. I do not browse with it - I'm an adult - so I use my 14" laptop to browse and an Apple TV for viewing.
    After 10 years of ownership - I use my Mini almost exclusively when I "TRAVEL" - to do the following (otherwise it sits in a drawer)
    #1- as a GPS unit in my vehicles - the best GPS ever (70%) That's after over 150K miles of road trips - when I need a GPS around town - my iPhone works fine.
    #2 - as a Sidecar or mirror screen to view video paired with a M2 MBA (25%)
    #3 - as an eReader (4%)
    #4 - the odd miscellaneous task (1%) This might change with the pencil.
    I will likely buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out @ year end. The Mini is simply a great portable high performance device that sits between an iPhone & MBA M2 as a complimentary but not essential device.

    • @OneTechMind
      @OneTechMind  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The external monitor experience is the same for every iPad including the mini, which is to say it’s not great. Except for very specific apps, the vast majority aren’t able to leverage the whole screen on a widescreen monitor so you’re stuck with the same aspect ratio as the iPad’s screen.
      Only nice thing is since the mini has USB-C now, you can plug it directly into a dock or monitor that supports video over USB-C.

    Hi! Thank you so much for an amazing review with an adequate amount of B rolls. Most tech YTubers these days just shoot an A roll monologue with tiny bits of B roll shots (laziness?). I had just one question: How good is it for reading magazines, comic books and text books in PDF specially when compared with the 12.9 Pro which is essentially the size of trade paperback or magazine. I know its too much to ask but will be very grateful if you can do a follow up video on this. Trust me no one has done this yet.

    How is the ipad mini 6 Netflix experience? Does it play max resolution and 60fps? How does the display compare to an amoled/oled screen?

    • @OneTechMind
      @OneTechMind  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Netflix looks great, especially for the small screen and display type. It will play in 1080p on the mini, but still looks sharp and has great color representation. Most Netflix content runs at 24p or 30p, but I found out Meridian was shot in 60p. I played it on the mini and it does appear to be running at 60fps, at least by my eye.

    i would have bought the ipad mini if it had better cases. it seems like i cannot find an ipad mini folio case that has a thin area where the pencil charges and a seperate slot for the pencils that doesn’t rest on where it charges.i dont want the pencil to be over charging and it’d be nice to not have to buy a stick-on pencil holder or a pencil holder strap due to manufacturers only making ipad mini cases with one place to store it, which happens to be where it charges as well. the only 2 cases i found to be exempt from this is the iMieet trifold stand ipad mini case (which isn’t an ipad folio case and i hate trifold cases but it has wonderful colors and good reviews), and the Zugu case (which is 40-60 dollars depending which ipad its for, and has an area to store the pencil, except i would probably buy the Minibesky magnetic pencil which is barely longer than the apple pencil and this case has a very close-cut area on the charging area for the apple pencil and wouldn’t allow anything but the 2nd gen apple pencil to charge. other than that, it has good colors and good reviews.)
    i would have to cave and simply buy a case that overcharges the stylus i choose, buy a case that is a trifold instead of a folio, buy an overpriced but good product with the possibility of not being able to charge a fake apple pencil, or buy an extra accessory that is to bring a pencil slot to any unfit cases.

    • @OneTechMind

      If the videos are fairly straightforward without a ton of clips and effects, I think the mini could handle it performance-wise in something like Lumafusion.

    Great video in many ways but the wast majority of the “complaints” seems to be based upon comparisons with iPads pro 12,9:es, I assume the iPad mini 6 buyers get it for its portability and not not for some non relevant comparison reviews, sorry but I have used it since launch and I love it, however not made for heavy desktop activities, but in that case you go for your latest version of the MacBook Ai, you can go for the pro model, the difference will only be the state of the model, not the performance. It makes sense Apple would make the investment on this camera for the mini given the current state of the world. The rear camera isn't anything to write home about.
