John was still attending his classes in electronics. He successfully passed his exams with honors while balancing his education and being an outstanding musician. John was about 19 when he joined the band
Freddie was a very empathetic person ( possibly due to his difficult childhood ) and he understood John’s shyness and helped him fit in with the group. They were great friends and I don’t believe John could be happy remaining in the band after Freddie died. John is a musical and electronic genius. Love his songs. ☺️🥰
John has been called “Queen’s self-effacing secret weapon”. He used his Engineering degree to design/build Queen’s one-of-a-kind “Deaky amp” system, which enabled Brian to “filter” any kind of sound effects directly thru his guitar… NO ONE else has still been able to replicate it. John also was in charge of overseeing Queen’s finances. In addition to the bass guitar, he played several different instruments: keyboards, string bass/cello, AND lead electric guitar (he was just happy/satisfied playing bass guitar instead).
Yes, he is very shy and reserved. Very smart indeed, he invented the amp that Brian uses today. Others have tried to duplicate but sound is not the same. John has written some iconic songs of theirs. Yes they had a manager that was not very professional, to say the least. He basically was stealing money. Gotta check out their song Death On Two Legs and Flick of the Wrist dedicated to him.
It is so rare to see John talk so much, but he always has something interesting to say, there is another interview in which he is the most participative, for TV Bandeirantes Brasileira, he is the one who talks about the ban on playing at Maracanã (the biggest Brazilian stadium) in 81, it would be a charity show but the government never allowed the opening of this specific stage for shows, however John explains the band's argument very well (if you go to watch it, however, I apologize in advance as it is a very embarrassing interview, although Nowadays it's funny to watch, that interviewer doesn't know what personal space is). John didn't like and still doesn't like being the center of attention, luckily Freddie always helped take some of the attention away from him so that he could have a calmer life, since John was the youngest and Freddie was the oldest in the band it makes sense been protective, and that helped keep him in the band Interview tv bandeirantes Brasil: th-cam.com/video/TaeKiIkNTrE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=eCCZj6KyRQhRT0D_
Hahaha, omg THAT interview. Poor Queen guys, that interviewer made *me* uncomfortable with his invasion of personal space… I can’t imagine actually experiencing it when simply watching it make me tense up ! 😂😂😂
@@imweakfordeaky As a Brazilian I apologize 😂, I'm sure the interviewer was very nervous and not at all used to interviewing Brits, I don't think he even understood Freddie's joke about sitting on his lap. The band was very patient, and luckily the interview with Brazilian radio was much more pleasant
He's so sweet and reserved. Freddie protected him❤❤ John was brilliant. He invented the Deaky amp

I believe it was John who really found out something was wrong with their earlie management,
Before John joined the band, they tried out several bassists over an approximate 6 month period, but none of them really clicked with the others.
I'm surprised roger remained quiet during the interview and just drove the car

Favourite Deaky song is Spready Your Wings.
Roger Taylor was driving in this interview
One of the earlier members (Before Freddie was Tim Staffell , he formed a group with Brian , later Roger joined
