You can, just start with some high grades and slowly get into painting if its too expensive for an airbrush+compressor+paints+paint hood
I started just this January and despite tripling my income over the summer Im pissed that I just don't have time to paint what I've already built!
It’s not at all hard to get into gunpla, all you need is a nipper and prefferably a nano glass file for removing gate nubs.
You don’t even need to paint them - I specifically build these as a break from painting warhammer. It’s like a treat.

I love your color use, on the closeup of the knee armor you could see the gradual transition of off-ish white to a subtle light blue at the edges, the combination of golden bronze and gun metal for the joints and other areas really make the white and blue pop
an rg psyco gundam mk ii would be the size of a perfect grade and would be able to fit perfect grade level gimmicks.
I've never watched Gundam, but man does ItsAGunplas' passion get me excited for each model kit!

Agreed, the colours do come together very well but I wouldn't think so imagining the combination in a vacuum. The bronze/copperish joints and details look really sweet.

If people want to take a risk of paying around $20(Originally listed as $55) for the 30MM Witchcraft Weapon Set on Amazon to see if they ship out the RG Hi Nu Gundam(It has to be sold by Amazon). The 30MM Set and the RG Hi Nu Gundam had a mix up on Amazon, I wished Amazon shipped my $8 RG Hi Nu Gundam pre-order so I could confirm my suspicions.

Been waiting over 2 months now on my pre-order from USAG, hopefully this month, finally. Haven't done a kit in 2 months while waiting for this one.
RG Unicorn started the golden age of RG where it really became a mini master grade but with more details.
RG kits is where Bandai puts its cutting edge gunpla technology nowadays, then they seep in to MG.
Every RG from the UC0093 era is top quality.
I really hope that Bandai someday produces a _RG Ex-S Gundam_ or a _RG V2 Assault Buster Gundam_ . That would be legendary.

U really make we want to get into painting. But airbrushes, paint, masking scribing...I'm already overbooked on time. But damn, that's a gorgeous kit. I just got one myself and cover the gold and silver parts. I'll leave the rest alone minus some panel lining and may try a basic wash on some of it. After all, ITS A GUNDAM! it deserves some love
Man, I'm really impressed with artistic ability. I used to get those snap together cheapo kits some Sun Coast Video back in the 90s. I'd love to get into something a bit more labor intensive. Anyone know a good level to start on?
Start with a couple of High Grades to get an idea and develop nub removal skills. Plus they will not wreck your bank account
IBO (Iron-Blooded Orphans) HG kits are cheap, cool, and fun. I bought the regular Barbatos from that line so I could test out if I'd enjoy hand painting details on kits.
Good HG kits to start with are the RX-78, Grimgerde, 00 Diver, and Zaku 2. All are very cheap.
@@thekunninglinguist2397 If you really want to work on your nub removal skills, make sure the kit you get has some navy blue plastic parts.
I started with real grade. Great start if you've put a model kit of any kind together before.

Did you panel line it, before that piece broke? I suspect that piece broke, probably cause panel liner, the thinner or enamel wash seeped in the polystyrene, and makes it brittle. Happens to me sometimes.
Beautiful work, PapaG! Is the grey on the knees, front skirts, etc. just a regular dark grey or is it some iron color?

How do you touch up the nub marks if you paint everything on the runner? Can you only paint on runners when it is under gated?
Nah my dude you should get the RG Nu too... that and the Sazabi for full effect. Those are the GOAT of RGs!!!

Best RG’s are (for quality/tolerances) Force Impulse Gundam and (for mechanics) Zeong. I have no attachment to either mobile suit and I don’t like either design, but build/articulation wise you will love them.
RG is for me far better than MG now and Bandai keeps knocking it out of the park with them.
Just did the Katoki Sazabi and while it has more mechanics, the quality just isn’t there like it is with the RG (I know the age difference).
Mold lines, tons of non undergated nubs, trashy hands that fall out, color correcting stickers and you can hardly pose it - It’s good but the RG is what I recommend to others.
Seeing as this hi-nu comes with injection gold/metal it’s already disqualified from being the best RG, not just due to the appearance, but because it’s a trash material that degrades quickly.
can i ask what gold paint did you used in gold injected parts? it really looks awesome🤩

Yeah, big thing with RGs are the pieces are fragile. You can not be rough trade with these like you can a Master Grade.

I'm such a big sucker for gimmicks and opening hatches tot he point where I bought PGU just for that alone and the fact that RG Hi-Nu has some PG gimmicks on the legs makes it already worth it for me. Now I just need to buy one in stock because it's mighty expensive from scalpers.

Might be wrong, but I think certain types of paint makes the plastic brittle (pretty sure enamel does this, not sure about others). Maybe that's why some parts broke off?

I think they did away with the pilot figures since the RG Crossbone. I don't remember if my RG Nu Gundam had it's pilot figure. The Sazabi did come with a tiny Char Aznable.
