  • I take a test ride on the Husqvarna Norden 901 from a primarily road rider perspective, with a loop down some unsealed roads to see how the bike performs is slightly more squirrelly conditions, that many riders are likely to encounter getting a little more adventurous.
Overall the Norden 901 massively impressed, offering exceptional road performance that doesn't feel like a big heavy adventure machine, ensuring plenty of thrills in all conditions, while carrying the weight so well that the bike feels like a much lighter, smaller machine in the rougher conditions.
An easy going engine with some bike, powerful but controllable brakes, an extensive electronics package and great comfort all combine into a killer overall machine, that while on the more premium end of things is, capable in my opinion, of replacing two or three other machines in the garage with minimal trade-offs.

I prefer the 890R on looks. Both great bikes.

Yep they seem to fill different niches, although there's some cross-over too naturally.

Nice one Kris. Thank you. It’s almost a bit of an anti-climax with the extremely long wait time for it to be released. It does however look better than the KTM. 👍😎🇦🇺

I know what you mean, we hear about some of these bikes so far in advance we've almost forgotten about them when they arrive!

@@MotoJournoKris With this one KTM new it would steal sales hence the huge delay. It’s all about money at the end of the day.

@@marcusgeorge1825 For sure, which is kind of sad, as I'm sure many riders who would have bought one of these given that choice, ended up on the KTM as that's what was available for so long. That in turn hurts the Norden a bit.

I got it for $4,500.00, which to me is high, from a lawnmower company that no longer making mowers.

Thanks for the review Kris. As a road-only tourer, would you rate the Norden above an F850GS ?

I'm not sure to be honest, I've never spent enough time on the 850 to be able to make a judgement there!

What makes me go for the Norden is the lower centre of gravity, and general lower mass. (Mind you, my trips are partly off road)

Also, you need the ESA on the GS to get some kind of adjustment in the forks, whereas it’s standard on the Norden

I reckon I'd go this as I like the idea of having a little more adventure capability.
