- THE NORTH ARRIVES IN THE SOUTH
We head to the picturesque Victorian High Country to ride the much-awaited Husqvarna Norden 901.
Touted as an adventure tourer, the Norden (Scandinavian for North), arrives with great expectations and a rich extended family tree to contend with. Will it fall short of Aussie expectations, or could it be the perfect formula for most riders?
Is this a bike that BMW F 850 GS or Ducati Multistrada V4S buyers might want to seriously consider? Will it struggle to fight the pull of the 890 Adventure R?
We have many questions, but the Norden 901 has a lot to offer. Let's ride!
Quality footage by Jorden Bethune from Flightcraft.

Actually the best pronounciation of Husqvarna, Svartpilen and Vitpilen I've heard! Great review :)
ive got a 2022 vit its awesome amazing bike. I also have a norden 901 for trail or single track riding.
How in the hell do you only have 3.06k subs? That's a crime. Great content man, keep up the great work.
Cheers man! Welcome to the channel.
I absolutely love your storytelling, footage and overall vibe - it made me want to take a test drive with 901, so good job Husky Team for inviting AdvLife to the event! :)
I agree with the other comments - great review of what is looking to be a great adventure bike. I would be interested to hear how it compares with the KTM 890 off-road. I realise that it's been designed to be a little "softer" than the KTM but still. I'm currently on a KTM 790R, and looking at the Norden 901 and the KTM 890R when it's time to let go of the 790
Unbelievable these video was amazing.
I couldn’t believe how fast you were going boy those bikes can handle the speed road conditions I was sitting on the edge of my seat.
Helps that your great riders & most of us will be doing half the speed but truely amazing.
Again thanks for taking us along for the ride very very Professional.
Good on Husky for spending the money on a great place to show off Australia & there quality Bike. Cheers
Nicely packaged review. Picking my Norden up today - can’t wait 😛
Mate that's awesome! Have fun on it.
Awesome Vid! I’m seriously looking at a Norden for the type of riding I do and my ability off-road is NOWHERE NEAR the skills of yourself, I reckon it will work perfect for me and the Mrs as a pillion too! Thanks!
Great video! That section where someone is tailing you close thru the forest was awesome! Need to get down to those Vic roads soon again!
That section was a heap of fun!
Great commentary, awesome video - can't wait to ride it at the Husqvarna Trek 2022
That should be an epic ride - I might see you there!
I'm a bit late to the party but this was mad!.. More please!
Missed opportunity at 11:50 by not commenting on difficulty level in picking the bike up. 😀. Excellent review!
Fair point! 😂 I was too busy feeling like an ass 😆
Awesome review and an amazing bike!!!
Another slick video mate. Great content and best of all makes me want to go adventure riding. Well done and thanks.
Cheers mate!
I simply have to say, mate really nice presentation of this bike and it’s capabilities. Very nice production on the video also, seriously high class man. My cap s’off to you mate.
Lucky bugger :) excellent real world review, keep up the good work.
Super video review, great footage and commentary. I’ve been waiting to see a local review of this bike and in the Vic high country just makes it even better. Think I’m going to book a test ride for sure, it appears to have the features for what I want…back road touring 🤘
Excellent production. Very keen on a 901 as my second motorcycle, hopefully it's not too much.
Some other adv bike reviewers could learn a lot from this review, well done it was interesting the whole way through. Keep up the good work, I’ll go test ride one of these after watching this. 👍🍻
Thank you Peter - really appreciate that.
That was very enjoyable to watch. Loved the close side by side action towards the end. The 23 expedition model is just about to be released with a lot of well chosen bling included. Any thoughts on that?
The Expedition definitely looks good, but I feel the bodywork on the 890 Adv R allows you to take advantage of the more aggressive/capable Xplor suspension offroad.
I like the Norden as more of an adventure tourer with the Apex suspension because it lets it have more of a unique identity that the 890 R doesn’t mirror.
But, more choice is good I guess.
@@advlife thanks for the reply. Saw your excellent channel for the first time yesterday. Now subscribed! Id probably be happy with the standard Norden with the high screen and maybe an aftermarket rear shock as I also noticed its harshness when test riding one. I found it very capable for what I want but just a little bit clinical in nature?. Then I took my KTM 950SM for another spin and just loved the soul of the carbed v twin and hooligan nature. My heart also says Africa twin as I just love the looks, the sound and Jap reliability. The ktm890r has the best suspension and dirt ergos but I just cant handle the Vulture head looks (23 model looks better) Now the 22 Norden is on a runout sale? Decisions, decisions. 🤔😊👍
Did I hear cruise control? I have a 2023 expedition on the way. Should be here next month. Now I’m wondering if it would have cruise control also.
I believe the Expedition has the cruise control included.
Enjoy your new bike! 👍🏻
i could not spend the $7500 U.S.D. for the 'WP-PRO' set up but had to do something so i spend half of that or so on Tractive Extreme for both ends and am very happy with that
You have done a beautifull job with the looks of the Norden.👍 Very nicely done.
Are you also getting the Expedition ? I will. Have to pick it up soon. Have to pay 4000.00 Euro extra. A lot of money i know. But when i take in consideration what i have to buy extra to get to the same level as the Expedtion then it is not. To be honest i do not like ehat ktm did. The 2022 has a few flaws. Like the shock.
And then bringing out a bike where all these flaws are adressed so soon is a bit nagging me.
The Expedition will be my last bike in my life. I hope it gives me a few good long trips. Going to Armenia in Juli for two months. Quickly have to do the first 1000 km'ters. And then some working on the bike. Like fixing an electric Scottoiler to it. And some extra protection.
Going for the Kriega softluggage. The OS system.
On H&B racks. Because ten years ago welded a alu construction that can carry 6 liter spare fuell on the inside of the rack. This saved my bud several times. So i always with any bike have to fall back to H&B racks.
Otherwise would have go for the Motorback rack.
When you stay on the pavement most of the time then you have the perfect bike that will suit you for many years to come. I even think it will handle better on the road then the Expedition. Thanks for your instruction video's. Been watching them all. And as soon as i have the Expedition i will turn them to good use.
Will be looking forward to your future video's and what you will do with the 901.
When i was not living next to Germany and had to go through it every time i would use the arrow decat option. I do not like the heat it radiates and also the weight. I think this will be the same with the Expedition. The risc is to high to decat it while driving through Germany. When caught you are not allowed to go one inch futher. And you have to pay all the costs that goes along with getting your bike across the border. A friend of mine had something like that in Germany.
But when i become sure that the heat is bad for the shock then i will do the decat. It is also not fun riding slow offroad with such extra heat. Had a 800 XC that almost got me a heatstroke in Vienna. 23 stoplights while it was 38 degrees Celsius. I had to fight to not faint. Standing atleast 15 minutes for every stoplight. Going around Vienna is the best option.🙈
If you could choose between Arrow or Acropovic. Would you still choose Arrow ?
Did you change the stock shock into something better ?
Mine is constantly botteming out. I think it is quit horrible. Or maybe it is not even working at all.
Excellent video guys. I've done a fair bit of 4x4 up and around that area, it's absolutely stunning all the way from Mansfield up. Currently riding a KLR650 until I get past my 3 year stint on P plates and looking at the Norden as I think it'll suit the style of riding I'm looking at doing. Do you think it'd suit someone of 6'3"?
You would definetely want to lift the seat up and go for the windscreen extender. It still might be a little cramped between the seat and pegs so I'd certainly try and spend a couple of hours on one to start with.
Beautiful vid! Looks like the Norden is allright! Seems also that manufacturers are going away from adjustable windshields to fixed windshields which can be upgraded after purchase.
Thanks mate! Yes it does seem that way. And offering more things we've generally seen as standard as options now.
"My Swedish is rusty since the Muppets were taken off the air". Stealing that one!
Super review, I’ve been waiting for this bike to come to AUS and be put through its paces, in the VIC high country to boot! Going to book a test ride as it appears to do what I’d be using such a bike for. Just got to see if it fits my 195cm frame 🤟
Well did it?
@@erkful yes, I bought one and it’s great
@@neilrose6558 excellent I’m about to trade my 1290 on one
What brand of slip-on,aftermarket exhaust did it have?
It was a Remus mate. Sounded insane and gave it a heap more aggression
@ADV LIFE AUS Thanks, I will see if they are available here in the states 😀
Great video full of seat of the pants commentary worth listening to.
1:12-1:15 Brilliant marketing by Husqvarna (hooskvarna)! Why reinvent the wheel, eh!🤣😎😍🤪
"Hüsqvarna" 👍
Good luck finding dealerships here in America.
Excellent review…apart from the overbearing music.
"pleasing to the eyes"? mmh ok. That blunt front end with the wannabe retro style isn't my cup of tea.
