You miiight want to look up the 'lore', so to speak, about the whole "fresh, never frozen" thing. It's, erm, an urban myth, to put it kindly. Here's a summary -- frozen foods are flash-frozen with liquid nitrogen at the processing plant. This basically is a real-world form of cryostasis for them -- foods don't decay when frozen the way they do when fresh (and unfrozen). Since it takes _weeks_ for food to travel, usually by long-haul freight truck, from place to place to place, in our modern industrial agribusiness infrastructure, by the time what was fresh when it left the fields, reaches your table... well, it's quite honestly not far from pitch-black-banana territory. If you want a simple test -- next time you're at the grocery, see if they have one of those "shuck your own corn" bins in Produce. Get an ear. Also get a small bag of frozen corn-on-the-cob. Cook both the same way, the cob from the frozen bag will be sweeter. Why? Remember what I said about travel times. The dextrose in corn (its sugar) begins to break down the second it's plucked off the stalk in the farmer's field. Freezing 'pauses' that effect, just like it does with all other foods that can be frozen. Also -- you might look at NutriSystem or Weight Watchers. You like portion control? NutriSystem does that, and you get a full month for roughly what you pay for a _week_ of Factor -- it's about $40-60 depending on precisely which package you choose, and there's plenty of options. Weight Watchers makes you go to the grocery and it's also a bit math-intensive, but it's tried and true. Worth a shot.
I think what Maxon meant with ingrams power armor was that if it stops working she can’t just jump out and continue on her own feet. Sure other knights would get stuck but when they get freed from their armor they still have two working legs where as Ingram would have to be carried to safety or otherwise evacuated from the area risking injury to her fellow warriors that need to help her
As a disabled person myself i think that maxam is in the right not to put ingrum back in the field. If anything happens to my wheelchair or crutches then I'm pretty much screwed. Maxam clearly believes that her engineering talents are more valuable to the brotherhood than just her fighting ability. I however love the fact that there is a disabled character where their disability is not the only interesting aspect about them. The first of her kind i have ever seen in a videogame.
Totally agree. It is very easy for a character like Ingram to feel like a ''token'' character. They wrote her in a way where her disability is only a part of what she is, rather than the entire focus of her character.

If the BOS blew up Rivet City, why on earth would he join? Doesn’t make sense. Danse loves saving humanity. He even wants to save ghouls(he loves it when you help Billy & his family). But when they built it in 1958 it became the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier. So if the earliest carrier had 8 it is not unreasonable to assume that in the fallout universe they would like in our world have at least two for redundancy I suppose, it would really suck having a reactor shut down in the middle of the Atlantic or pacific if you only have one which provides all power and propulsion to the ship. But we read about it in at an email between the chapter’s elder and chief engineer. It doesn’t make sense for the top brass to sanitize what they did in private messages to one another.
I'm not sure that "there is a second aircraft carrier" is a fair defence. Aircraft carriers are fairly important landmarks and it's not very believable that a second functioning aircraft carrier would just sail under the radar, or would earn the "that aircraft carrier" reference from the BoS. To add to this, the BoS is no stranger to carrier logistics or military records, aircraft carriers require a massive team and logistics chain to maintain, and as assets, aircraft carriers are not exactly as easy to lose as a stray fatman or even a cold store of high yield warheads. If there was a second aircraft carrier in the Capital Wasteland, it seems doubtful that you wouldn't at least have seen some mention of it, and it's more likely that the folk in the BOS would've had some way to distinguish the two (and you'd see it in writing). The BoS was in the Capital Wasteland, with plenty of people working with and for them who had visited Rivet City at some point or another; it's unlikely Rivet City would be beneath their notice. Saying "that aircraft carrier in the Capital wasteland" in BoS intramail and meaning the carrier wreck is more likely to get the reply "you mean Rivet City, right" from the other end, than "that wreck we just refloated, right". Granted, there is ambiguity here, but it's not the sort that I'd consider enough to say "okay, let's assume for now that there's a second aircraft carrier in the Capital Wasteland". With that said, it's quite weird that people like Scribe Haylen would buy the BoS's "Hearts and Minds" approach if they had committed an atrocity. Maybe they used their Project Purity water provision as leverage to resettle Rivet City in a different part of the ruins and claim the carrier reactor, and maybe that's a contributing factor to Dr. Madison Li leaving the BoS. But the "second carrier" theory seems a reach from where I'm standing.
57:10 No, he means that if Ingram's power armor broke down in the field during a dangerous encounter, she wouldn't be able to jump out of it and escape to safety because of her condition. Any other Knight/Paladin can always leave the armor behind in extreme situations. Ingram cannot, she would just be stuck, and other BoS members would have to rescue her, potentially putting themselves in danger. EDIT: Just checked other comments, and nearly every top comment says the same thing I did. How did Ox not figure this out himself, seems to be common sense.
The only thing I dislike a tiny bit of all the random location radiant quests is that they can send you to Far harbor even if you aren't the lvl to start the quest line. Yesterday my lvl 13 character was told to go to beaver creek lanes to escort a squire
It’s almost certain that the Brotherhood has since significantly advanced the Predwen after the events of Fallout 4, as the Predwen Terminals say that the Ship is barely staying in the Sky, and it may be impossible for them to get it to fly anywhere again. But we see the Predwen in the Fallout TV Show, so it’s almost certain they’ve significantly advanced the Ship with Commonwealth Technology since. (No, it wasn’t the ‘Caswennan’ that was just a misdirection to avoid spoilers) so in the Show, the Ship travels from Boston to Utah, that’s it’s farthest journey ever. I’d be very surprised if the Institute isn’t at least mentioned in Season 2, along with some very crazy advancements thanks to Cold Fusion, such as Infinite-Charge Fusion Cores!

Maxon not allowing Ingram field duty isn't just about the possibility of power armor failure. It's probably more about the fact that Ingram's is also her legs, both being amputated. Any other person, upon armor failure, could just get out and walk away. Ingram physically can't.
Synths do sleep, there's a conversation that two Institute scientists have about Synths being able to achieve Rem Sleep, which is basically the dream stage of sleep.

If the Brotherhood really did take Rivet City’s Fusion Reactor, I think their wording here is interesting to me “that old aircraft carrier wreckage” they didn’t even see it as a City, just a wreck. A piece of waste. Despite claiming themselves better than them, the Brotherhood acts more like the Pre-War US Gov then down-to-earth wastelanders. A City isn’t a City to them, just a target.
Remember that the bombs dropped in 2077, this means that someone in the Brotherhood recovered a copy of The Iron Giant. Liberty Prime is basically Maxson dropping a reference and nobody noticing cause they haven't watched the movie
If the BoS have a presence in the next game, I hope there's an emphasis on Scribes and the more Academic side to the Brotherhood, we about their noble goal of preserving and gatekeeping technology out of the hands of ne'er do wells but we rarely see what that actually looks like internally.
There is a entrance to the institute other than teleportation, and it is patrolled. There is a small quest that will mark it for you but it's been to many years since I found it, so don't remember how to start that quest now, but it's by a bridge and underwater in the river. When you use the teleport and leave that room turn left and look in that area and you will find a sealed locked door, that leads to that tunnel and a lot of underground rooms from the old institute. You can only access that door from the tunnels.

But no I explored all the river underwater and everywhere I could go in the game. I found that entrance but it wasn't accessible till I picked up that quest. Fallout has so much they cut from the game that I thought that was what that was at the time just cut content but was surprised to find a mission to go that way. Sort of like downtown so many little cubby holes here and there to find. No matter how many times I play the game I always find something I missed. Was fun to do it. Love to explore games like fallout have them all. And now have the Gog versions no more messing up my game Bethesda.

I never liked the "feeding the troops" quest. Especially since the BOS was unwilling to provide the farms with anything in return. I would have liked to see the BOS offer help in exchange. Like a patrol will swing by from time to time and they can call for air support if Raiders or mutants attack. It would only be good business for the BOS to defend their food sources.
I mean, sure, they don't outright defend those settlements, but they do patrol the Commonwealth to take the fight to raiders and whatnot. So indirectly, they do make it safer for those farmers.

you still retain the ability to fly around in vertibirds during the Railroad and Minuteman endings; you only ever lose it in the Institute story, but then in that case, you retain teleportation, which has its uses

The prevailing theory is that Maxson is a Synth with the "perfect human specimen" statement. There is no way that the man that is Maxson is 23 years old with that build, or that he slayed a Deathclaw whilst in the midst of Brotherhood caretakers of the Capital Wasteland.
No, they didn’t. If they did, then paladin Danse wouldn’t have joined the BOS. Don’t forget the original guy was from Rivet City. Him joining the brotherhood after his town being slaughtered, wouldn’t make any sense.
Or maybe rivet city had more than one reactor. Modern day aircraft carriers are usually powered by at least two reactors and in the case of the USS enterprise CVN-65 being powered by eight reactors. In my mind rivet city struck a deal with the brotherhood or as a token of gratitude for getting clean water gave the brotherhood an unused reactor because it wasn’t needed to power the city
I see the Elder Arthur Maxson as a young leader who is constantly trying to balance his mentors' teachings (Elder and Senteinel Lyons) and the Codex. He makes preserving Technology a Priority, but he still insists on a Winning the Hearts and Minds campaign. A stark contrast to the Isolationist policies of other Chapters. Honestly, like it or not Elder Maxson's Chapter is the conclusion to the balance that Veronica was pleading for her chapter to undertake. Especially since Maxson accepts recruits (through sponsorships).
What I don't understand is if elder maxson is in fact a synth, why would he be allowed to have been made Elder? Isn't that what they're against supposedly. No they are against anyone else having the technology except for themselves. There's even a halo tape that addresses that someone believes him to be one, yet it's not fleshed out unfortunately. If that is the case I don't know why they wanted Danse destroyed after finding out that he is a synth. Maybe because The institute and the brotherhood of steel had fallen out sometime after Maxon was created, but dance had been with the brotherhood of steel for so long that maxon took pity on him and didn't know what to do. Wouldn't it be something if the institute and the brotherhood of steel had secretly worked together at one time? That would be interesting.. what's complicated is that we don't really find any evidence of this but it's not out of the realm of possibility is it?
My guess is Maxson somehow got ahold of an experimental serum, Captain America style. And Ingram had to be strapped into a PA frame so the BoS clearly doesn't have access to Institute-esque cybernetics. If the did they could have grafted a pair of legs onto Ingram. Without any visible signs of cybernetic augmentation, I have to assume Maxson found some kind of serum. The cybernetics is just a cover story to give a sense of realism to the Arthur Maxson mythos.
The death of Sarah was a huuuuge blow to me. There's a mod called "Project Valkyrie" that fixes that. Honestly, it's awesome and I highly recommend it.
there is a pipe that leads to the Intute you can find it with the Mintimen end quest but too you can find it on your own, I honestly can't find it now not sure if it been packed or whatever

That isn't what he's saying and you know it. Unlike the rest of the brotherhood she can't exit her power armor and move. She's a risk because if it stops working mid battle she's done for and anyone trying to save her will be a easy target. A giant target unable to move, forcing her crew to risk their life getting her out and moving to cover. Everyone else can open theirs and run she can not. If her fusion core dies she's stuck moving slow when anyone else can hop out on their own and replace it immediately she needs someone else to do it again leaving them in the wide open leading to a huge safety hazard. Fyi they're not the player go steal a brotherhood FC and watch how they immediately hop out to replace it.
I still have no idea how they load cargo onto the ship when the only way in is a tiny door and then up a small ladder. Surprised power armour users can get in let alone massive crates full of fatman shells and liberty prime parts!
Quinlan isn't necessarily a hypocriye for personally enjoying something he claims isn't of value to the Brotherhood as a faction. Of course,. may be thinking comics are childish, but since he clearly can't kick it himself, he tries covering up the fact when talking to you. "Originate", not "originate from". Why do people insist of making these mistakes? Interesting Quinlan would use the term "indoctrinated" when talking about his own faction. Almost makes me think he may not agree with their whole thing. I never understood why, for a paramilitary organization, the BOS isn't very tactical nor strategic in utalizing their surroundings and the people to expedite their cause. Lyons was heading in that direction but he, too, failed to realize that if you get the locals to trust you they may actually WANT to help you find what they see as old junk but you see the potential in, because 1000 people who know the area is better than the hundred you have who don't know where to start looking. Arthur Maxson sounds like one hell of a Gary Stu in that terminal. He defeated SEVERAL raiders single-handedly, which were apparently more than what his company of trained soldiers (presumably without any PA) was able to handle? A Super Mutant and Deathclaw I could figure; he could hide from the Mutant until it reloaded and blast a hole in its head, and cheese the Deathclaw like we do the one at the start by going into one of the buildings. There's no way his model is 20 years old, though.

Maybe they used their Project Purity water provision as leverage to resettle Rivet City in a different part of the ruins and claim the carrier reactor, and maybe that's a contributing factor to Dr. Madison Li leaving the BoS. But the "second carrier" theory seems a reach from where I'm standing.

Any other Knight/Paladin can always leave the armor behind in extreme situations. Ingram cannot, she would just be stuck, and other BoS members would have to rescue her, potentially putting themselves in danger.

It’s almost certain that the Brotherhood has since significantly advanced the Predwen after the events of Fallout 4, as the Predwen Terminals say that the Ship is barely staying in the Sky, and it may be impossible for them to get it to fly anywhere again.
But we see the Predwen in the Fallout TV Show, so it’s almost certain they’ve significantly advanced the Ship with Commonwealth Technology since. (No, it wasn’t the ‘Caswennan’ that was just a misdirection to avoid spoilers) so in the Show, the Ship travels from Boston to Utah, that’s it’s farthest journey ever.
I’d be very surprised if the Institute isn’t at least mentioned in Season 2, along with some very crazy advancements thanks to Cold Fusion, such as Infinite-Charge Fusion Cores!

Maxon not allowing Ingram field duty isn't just about the possibility of power armor failure. It's probably more about the fact that Ingram's is also her legs, both being amputated. Any other person, upon armor failure, could just get out and walk away. Ingram physically can't.

If the Brotherhood really did take Rivet City’s Fusion Reactor, I think their wording here is interesting to me “that old aircraft carrier wreckage” they didn’t even see it as a City, just a wreck. A piece of waste. Despite claiming themselves better than them, the Brotherhood acts more like the Pre-War US Gov then down-to-earth wastelanders. A City isn’t a City to them, just a target.

There is a entrance to the institute other than teleportation, and it is patrolled. There is a small quest that will mark it for you but it's been to many years since I found it, so don't remember how to start that quest now, but it's by a bridge and underwater in the river. When you use the teleport and leave that room turn left and look in that area and you will find a sealed locked door, that leads to that tunnel and a lot of underground rooms from the old institute. You can only access that door from the tunnels.

A lot of people seemed to think there was but one way in. But no I explored all the river underwater and everywhere I could go in the game. I found that entrance but it wasn't accessible till I picked up that quest.
Fallout has so much they cut from the game that I thought that was what that was at the time just cut content but was surprised to find a mission to go that way.
Sort of like downtown so many little cubby holes here and there to find. No matter how many times I play the game I always find something I missed.
Was fun to do it. Love to explore games like fallout have them all. And now have the Gog versions no more messing up my game Bethesda.

I never liked the "feeding the troops" quest. Especially since the BOS was unwilling to provide the farms with anything in return. I would have liked to see the BOS offer help in exchange. Like a patrol will swing by from time to time and they can call for air support if Raiders or mutants attack. It would only be good business for the BOS to defend their food sources.
I mean, sure, they don't outright defend those settlements, but they do patrol the Commonwealth to take the fight to raiders and whatnot.
So indirectly, they do make it safer for those farmers.

If you are playing on Survival mode, the brotherhood is the only way to go ! I would hate to not have those vertibird rides all over the place. it is a must. I'm not walking everywhere, not even in survival mode, no sir.
you still retain the ability to fly around in vertibirds during the Railroad and Minuteman endings; you only ever lose it in the Institute story, but then in that case, you retain teleportation, which has its uses

Or maybe rivet city had more than one reactor. Modern day aircraft carriers are usually powered by at least two reactors and in the case of the USS enterprise CVN-65 being powered by eight reactors. In my mind rivet city struck a deal with the brotherhood or as a token of gratitude for getting clean water gave the brotherhood an unused reactor because it wasn’t needed to power the city

I see the Elder Arthur Maxson as a young leader who is constantly trying to balance his mentors' teachings (Elder and Senteinel Lyons) and the Codex. He makes preserving Technology a Priority, but he still insists on a Winning the Hearts and Minds campaign. A stark contrast to the Isolationist policies of other Chapters. Honestly, like it or not Elder Maxson's Chapter is the conclusion to the balance that Veronica was pleading for her chapter to undertake. Especially since Maxson accepts recruits (through sponsorships).
What I don't understand is if elder maxson is in fact a synth, why would he be allowed to have been made Elder? Isn't that what they're against supposedly. No they are against anyone else having the technology except for themselves. There's even a halo tape that addresses that someone believes him to be one, yet it's not fleshed out unfortunately. If that is the case I don't know why they wanted Danse destroyed after finding out that he is a synth. Maybe because The institute and the brotherhood of steel had fallen out sometime after Maxon was created, but dance had been with the brotherhood of steel for so long that maxon took pity on him and didn't know what to do. Wouldn't it be something if the institute and the brotherhood of steel had secretly worked together at one time? That would be interesting.. what's complicated is that we don't really find any evidence of this but it's not out of the realm of possibility is it?

My guess is Maxson somehow got ahold of an experimental serum, Captain America style. And Ingram had to be strapped into a PA frame so the BoS clearly doesn't have access to Institute-esque cybernetics. If the did they could have grafted a pair of legs onto Ingram. Without any visible signs of cybernetic augmentation, I have to assume Maxson found some kind of serum. The cybernetics is just a cover story to give a sense of realism to the Arthur Maxson mythos.

he doesn't play Survival mode. Given that he primarily focuses on lore and storytelling, Survival would be a hindrance.
The death of Sarah was a huuuuge blow to me. There's a mod called "Project Valkyrie" that fixes that. Honestly, it's awesome and I highly recommend it.

That isn't what he's saying and you know it. Unlike the rest of the brotherhood she can't exit her power armor and move. She's a risk because if it stops working mid battle she's done for and anyone trying to save her will be a easy target. A giant target unable to move, forcing her crew to risk their life getting her out and moving to cover. Everyone else can open theirs and run she can not. If her fusion core dies she's stuck moving slow when anyone else can hop out on their own and replace it immediately she needs someone else to do it again leaving them in the wide open leading to a huge safety hazard. Fyi they're not the player go steal a brotherhood FC and watch how they immediately hop out to replace it.
I still have no idea how they load cargo onto the ship when the only way in is a tiny door and then up a small ladder. Surprised power armour users can get in let alone massive crates full of fatman shells and liberty prime parts!

I never understood why, for a paramilitary organization, the BOS isn't very tactical nor strategic in utalizing their surroundings and the people to expedite their cause. Lyons was heading in that direction but he, too, failed to realize that if you get the locals to trust you they may actually WANT to help you find what they see as old junk but you see the potential in, because 1000 people who know the area is better than the hundred you have who don't know where to start looking.
Arthur Maxson sounds like one hell of a Gary Stu in that terminal. He defeated SEVERAL raiders single-handedly, which were apparently more than what his company of trained soldiers (presumably without any PA) was able to handle? A Super Mutant and Deathclaw I could figure; he could hide from the Mutant until it reloaded and blast a hole in its head, and cheese the Deathclaw like we do the one at the start by going into one of the buildings. There's no way his model is 20 years old, though.
