      Eh. I would agree with you but you generally precondition the car before you get in so it doesn't matter. Sound volume is controlled through the scroll wheel. You can also control window wipers and stuff by pressing the button down with the recent software update. Voice controls are also nice so you don't have to look down to turn stuff on.

    • @kmwong1988
      @kmwong1988 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not sure why you would need a knob for the volume control when there is already one on the steering wheel.
      Maybe for the climate control but again, you set the temperature once and leave it on auto. I've not had to touch the temperature controls once set.
      I've had a Model Y for a month now and it just makes sense with the minimal buttons because there is no need for them once everything has been set.

    Been driving one for a year now. Loving every minute of it! Prices in Malaysia are very incredibly cheap as compared to other places. Pretty good value. Can use your phone's NFC to unlock the car, no need for the car key. The Zoom only works if the car is parked.

    The discrepancy in audio.

    Then suddenly, the volume shoots up when you get out the car.

    Great review Bobby. In aus the model y competes directly with the like of X3, GLC and Q5 (and their EV counterparts). I find the clever packaging makes it more spacious and practical than any of the above having owned an X3 G01. The long range is the sweet spot and if you don’t like the acceleration there is ‘chill mode’ to ensure your passengers don’t get sick. But all in all a very great all rounder and enjoyed every bit of it

    Thank you, Bobby. your rant about what people expect from EVs are spot on. for me, a comparison to ICE vs EV discussion are stick vacuums. there are nice, quality, but cheaper wired ones, vs the same version but with battery, albeit heavier, more expensive and probably sucks less. EVs are no longer "green" but they do represent the near future. The days of roaring, smoking Alphards, hailaks waiting still in front of schools when a parent waits to fetch one of their children but want to be cooled by the aircond are numbered. Soon these moving aircond on petrol/diesels generators will move on to moving aircond on powerbanks.

    Just the add ons are enhanced auto pilot which is auto lane changes navigate on autopilot meaning it will take highway exits etc
    FYI at RM199K Model Y has a double wishbone front suspension something only found on 5 series and up. Also double glazed windows on the front and rear can be seen at 12:21

    In fact RM199k actually already get you a very very decent specification compared with other cars in the market. Not to mention 199k get you the safest car in the world (simply youtube search or googled and see). The standard Autopilot already more than enough and functioning better than most of the L2 in the market. Those add on mostly are not necessary unless you have extra cash to spend on. Most reviewer keep saying 199k basic spec and must add this add that become 2xxk are simply not true. Many didnt even talk about the 13 speakers premium sound system you get no matter which model Y you get. And also, you get the software support basically your entire ownership with the car. Year 2017 owner till now still receiving new features from time to time.

    Nice review Bobby but you might have understimated the size of the Model Y. At 4750mm long, it is categorised as a mid-sized SUV competing against the GLC, X3, Q5 & XC60. The Model Y is actually the largest (footprint wise) than all 4 petrol powered rivals. Its width at 1920mm makes parking in narrow lots tricky. Also, the overly wide 12.1m turning circle makes you feel like you're u-turning a big-sized Cayenne*. (*without rear-axle steering)

    • @folag
      @folag ปีที่แล้ว

      Since when did the turning radius of a Cayenne become a problem? The Cayenne, like a typical Porsche, has an extaordinaril right turning radius for its size. Do you own a Cayenne, or driven one?

    Ultimately, I equate Teslas cars to a Toyota Corolla except for it’s electric. I think there’s also a misconception when it comes to what you said in the beginning about features and add-ons for the car. Every single thing that his software activated is already installed in the car. Paint colors and tire sizes. That’s all aftermarket. You could do that by yourself, but they are selling you a car with everything equipped that you didn’t have to pay software access for so I don’t think it’s a fair claim to say that they are being efficient about the cost savings of the build of the car.
    I know a lot of reviewer’s and people look at the very minimal interior user interface as a cost savings and that’s a pretty fair statement, but I also look at it as a way to charge you more for a premium vehicle as they would call it while simultaneously stripping away Basic button functionality.

    Weird discussion about premium or not. It lacks all definition.
    I would argue that there are multiple criteria for being premium: e.g. interior aspects, exterior aspects, software, engine power, etc.
    Tesla scores high on some (software and power). Lower on others.
    Whether you believe the brand to be premium depends on how much you weigh each criteria. For example; If you attach a lot of weight to software and power.. a model s plaid is more premium than a merc eqs. If more weight on interior than vice versa.

    Good review . If u go China go to a place where they hv all the EV being sold like a Mall. You can browse around. I was beginning to look at tesla first then next then next n i didn't even bother to go to have a second look at tesla. 3ven the Chinese guys are only mainly looking at BYD which have the most interesting and varied models.
    No buttons are a no no. There is no redundancy built in for a lots of independent functions in a complex car. Take my word for it. You will soon find out why😂

    Why would you want to classify Model3 and Y into PREMIUM CARS ? From tesla's mission, they are creating affordable cars hence targetting masses. Its expensive in your country due fo import taxes, nothing to do with tesla. Compare using a corolla's standard if you wanna compare, tesla M3/Y is cheaper than a corolla in some states within united states.

    Elon abandoned the luxury car market - he now it trying to dominate the Camry market
    low margins - dull-looking cars, and the interiors are even duller.
    I own a 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range, and its interior is sub-par to a Camry.
    Honestly, I think Elon is trying to corner the cheap-car market...
    while the rest of the EV market is going premium...
    I think Elon has spent too much time in San Francisco...and not the real America.

      If you were informed you would know that Tesla just started moving dirt in Mexico where they will build a car for $25,000 or less.Tesla will start using a new system to build cars that will be more modular and not have an assembly line but a place where everything comes together

    The screenification of cars have got to stop. If you're not allowed to drive while operating a handphone, you shouldn't have to be forced to finger through screen after screen to do something as basic and frequent as changing the ac vents. It cut costs and safety while tricking the market into thinking it's a good thing. Moreover I don't trust over the air control of my vehicle. Tesla is known to cut features you've bought if you sell to a second hand buyer. With a normal car the features you buy you can sell to the next buyer as value added, while Tesla wants to keep that profit for themselves. This is why Tesla is not an "honest" car to me.
