I can testify, thru personal experience, that changing facial structure is doable over time.
In my case, a variety of factors were at work: mouth breathing, stress & muscle tension from a difficult childhood, and nail biting.
I started addressing all these factors in my mid-to-late 40's thru therapy, mindful awareness, research, nutrition, and exercises to alleviate facial tension.
Of course, I stopped nail biting, too.
A *multi-pronged approach* was quite successful in changing my appearance & countenance over a period of 20 years.
I'm able to close my lips easily, my chin no longer recedes, I have no slack skin under my jawline; my cheeks are more developed with an overall balance/symmetry that was lacking in my younger years.
I wasn't aware of any research other than Price-Pottinger Institute, which demonstrated how the narrowing of the facial structure over generations may have nutritional-deficiency aspects. This was demonstrated on both humans and animals.
Fascinating study worth looking into, btw.
My instincts were to address my own issues on a variety of levels because I know my history better than anyone.
It IS a tendency nowadays to want instant results/gratification, and people will pay large sum$ to achieve them rather than change their habits & mindset.
Consistently doing things differently and being patient costs no money and builds strong character.
So why are people resistant to change and opt for the expensive- 'easy' fix?
I can tell you this much:
Someone with a profit motive put an idea into your head you are not enough unless *xyz*...and in order to obtain 'xyz' you have to look outside yourself - and pay for the privilege.
    Your most valuable resource =You.
*Anyone can make significant changes thru perserverence and unflagging belief in oneself.*
    Something for you to consider.

I’m 19; for about 10+ years of my life I started having bad posture because I was always on the computer - this caused my neck and shoulders to go out of alignment causing me to constantly have headaches and neck pain. When I look at old pictures of myself from the profile angle, I always noticed my jarring forward head posture and occasionally catch myself with my mouth hanging open. Mewing has opened my eyes (and closed my mouth) to realize that your posture at rest truly makes a difference in your appearance. I am not naturally ugly-just years of bad posture has affected my appearance, health, and well being. Thank you Dr. Mew for sharing your expertise.

I started at 15-16 from a different video and I’m now 19 and the results are noticeable to me. But I probably wasn’t the best candidate for a test, my face could have also changed from maturing.
In the video I saw I was told to bite down on my teeth while doing the youngest on the roof of my mouth. I believe it worked because my jaw on the right side of my face is more defined than my left, doesn’t look horrible but I can notice it, and I exercised the right more than left a little.

Been doing this for a couple of months now, I'm 22. The change is crazy. I love taking selfies now, as silly as it may sound lol. My resting face is more serious and my posture is better. I think I'm more beautiful now, and I'm so glad I found about it in time! My sister has the worst face possible cause she has breathing issues, but she's only 14 so and I'm trying to help her fix it.

the reason why the cheekbones become more prominent is because mewing strengthens and hypertrophies the masseter muscles, also giving you a better jaw. in addition to that, it brings the muscles in of your throat INTO your skull which doing so also gives you a better jawline. im not sure about the whole maxilla shit. palatal expansion? sure maybe. but causing your maxilla to grow up and forward? eh, then again, im not an expert.

for people confused, if you put the tongue on the roof your mouth, apply slight force, almost like your making a "NNNNN" sound. Then you'll notice as you raise your head up-right you feel tension under your jaw, i think this is the right way to do it.

I have crooked teeth and rounded jaw for 24+ years. Tried mewing (putting my tongue in the roof and nose breathing) for a year plus jaw exercises. Literally my jaw became more defined, cheekbone rose up and chin protruded.

    ***************************
    Why you should not mew,
    1. It collapses ur upper dental arch ( gives an illusion of widened pallet) - you cannot grow bone that quick.
    2. Pushes zygomatic arch sideways and cause jaw joint problems / TMD
    3. Misaligns the teeth - pushes teeth outwrd along with the bones associated with it.
    4. Actually narrows down the airway of the nostrils.
    5. Cause facial fatigue, tightens toungue and cause speech problems.
    6. Reduce lip competence
    7. OVERALL makes ur face ugly.
By the way tip of the toungue in the roof of the mouth is normal.
Solution - push ur teeth inward with ur lips or get braces/invisalign.
These influencers teach you stuff ( mewing, chewing, facial exersices...) that even they dont follow.
If you want prominent cheek bones just lose weight.
Nicely formed compact upper dental arch gives you a beautiful, healthy face.

For an easy start spell the letter "N" and you'll realize how your tongue will stick automatically to it's roof and it's fine to do hard mewing but I don't suggest it for beginners you need to warm up before any type of exercise and correcting your tongue posture is the right beginning so ye I started it since 15 and it worked my jaw is defined thanks to Dr.mike
