Black Mamba in Suburban Garden!

This sub adult black mamba slithered into a suburban garden on the northern outskirts of the city. The area was hit hard by bush fires in 2021, forcing most animals out into the suburbs to look for food water and shelter.

Sjoe. And WITHOUT gloves could one manage? My heart is beating a bit right now. Can one ever EVER do this WITHOUT help...like by myself???

Was I mistaken but was that mamba brown in color? Do they appear brown in Namibia?

Indeed it was. I have never seen an individual this brown in the 15 years that I have been removing snakes around the city. Interestingly mambas here are much darker than the ones in SA and from time to time we find pitch black individuals.

@@snakesofnamibia3371 they can actually be an almost black color in Namibia? Is that a more common color as you travel further north on the continent or is that just in Namibia? Really fascinating stuff
