Great explanation as always Luke! Ive had the Ion Pro for about 3 weeks now and its actually as Luke describes, IQ Tour with teeth, definitely more pop on the back end and you can definitely get more left with it. For me less cross over with my Phaze Frenzy at 2K, definitely recommend a lower than box finish to kill the backend boom a little 3K has been the one for me so far if i want to use it as a ball 2. It’s a little to angular for a benchmark. Maybe a little more surface and a stronger mass bias position to get the ball reading earlier would round it out more for me.

Well, Storm themselves said in their Ion presentation that it was the first core they designed in collaboration with AI. The Sublime core was also based on another one as well, but yeah, kind of splitting hairs tbh . .

I swore i was gonna chill on buying more bowling balls, but im embarassed to say that I've bought into the hype for the Ion 😂
With my stronger balls like Reality and Phaze 2 really becoming too strong even in game 1 of league (did they change the oil layout???), I can't seem to find that perfect ball-down piece, currently filled rather decently with ZGL and to a lesser extent, my Xponent. They both work ok, but i feel like I'm missing something. More likely the Indian rather than the arrow, but still.....
Damn if i dont plan on buying the Ion :)

Hey, Luke! Maybe it's just me, but I saw too many similarities between the X-Cell and Optimum Idol. Is it just me, or was I reading the X-Cell correctly? (I got the opportunity to throw the X-Cell at a matchmaker this past weekend.) By the way, Optimum Idol led me to my first 300 game this past Thursday on a sport shot (2014 USBC Team Event 43') 😁😁😁

Optimum is definitely the earlier, stronger and quite a bit slower ball. Shapes are somewhat similar and asym vs sym might beef the x up a little more, but they're different enough I think if you had them side by side

I have a brief comparison in Zach's video that will be going up tomorrow. In general though, the X is just a slightly beefed up version of the Power. Same general look and shape, the X-Cell is just a few boards stronger.

Getting there lol. Can't exactly do that comparison with Storm staffers lol. Hutch with The Hype has a video up comparing the Ion to the Envy and Black Venom if you want to go take a look. I think the Ion will be the cleanest and sharpest of the 3, closest to the Black Venom on hook, and step down on strength from the Envy

Virtually yeah. Power is 65 x 5 x 35, Ion is 65 x 4 3/4 x 40.

No? I said if you already throw 14s, you'll be used to it. Most 14s just have higher RGs than the 15 pound versions, and it's something that's generally unfortunate, but there's nothing much different about this one vs other 14 pound balls.
