Yes, comprehensive account of very necessary works to keep this wonderful railway/coastline interface as it’s been for so long! I sincerely hope these bright enthusiastic civils boys have got it right, and that all their calcs will bear up in the face of the grim effects of climate change! Cheers
It's fascinating seeing that old path down to Shell Cove from the former hotel on the top. I walked down it several times about 30 years ago and with all the tree cover that then existed you couldn't see the near vertical drop right next to it. Normally I get vertigo if I go 6 steps up a ladder but there I was blissfully unaware of it. Wouldn't go down there now - no way!
Do we know yet if this work will continue between Holcombe and Teignmouth? Access to the cliffs there is complicated by residential properties right at the top of the cliff so it will be fascinating to see how they manage it if they do extend it. We had two drones flying above the cliffs a couple of days ago, perhaps Network Rail surveying after all this rain!
Will you be heading down the cliff face yourself for a close up of the nails being installed? Don't forget your camera, as it's a long way back to the top 😬
Was covering the railway line (as happened near Marine Parade) ever considered? Just allow the vegetation to do its best on the cliff face and any slips to be contained on the roof of an effective tunnel.
why put the 'nails' horizontally ? and not 30degrees or so facing down from the face deep into the parent cliff ? so they will naturally 'grip' the face n not want to pull out .
There are some 'government funded' projects with which l agree and some that l do not, but whenever somebody says 'government funded' l hear 'taxpayer funded'. This is one with which I agree.

Is it open to the public? I assume not, which is a shame.
It's a public beach if you can access it at low tide or by boat.

Where do you find so many construction workers with experience rappelling down cliffs and doing construction work?
A very specialised role for sure, we have people from all over the country working on the cliffs
It’s hard to find professionals with this much enthusiasm and energy. Then it’s also about keeping a good team morale 💪💪💪

I believe it's still being discussed. There is no approved plan yet, that I know of.

They are all put at different angles in the cliff dependant on gradient of the cliff
