Never gonna happen. The networks have destroyed soaps. No money..no time. cheap casting now days. My guess is the remaining few won't be around much longer :( my fav is Days
@@lilysowner That is because they drew from a pool of theater-trained actors. Many of the west coast soaps just got TV-ready actors with pretty faces. ATWT had people who often did double duty starring in plays while they were still on the soap.
The level of Sharlene's pain was so well portrayed by Anna Holbrook. Sharlene was so scorned, hurt, and bitter. It's impossible to not feel it yourself. I loved this storyline.
It is amazing that the character of Sharlene made Emmy winners out of BOTH actresses who portrayed her (Laurie and Anna). Way to go, Sharlene, Anna, and Laurie!!!!!❤
Anna Holbrook earned that Emmy. Her performances were Meryl Streep level amazing. Jill Phelps gets a lot of shit but the one thing she does well is make the performers perform riveting soap opera.
The irony is... this is the second time under her rule that an adultery story happened and then shortly after... a beloved character was killed off. Only this time, the woman being cheated on wasn't killed.
I loved Another World. Growing up my grandmother (who was deaf) watched the soaps from 11am until 3pm. The Young and The Restless, Days Of Our Lives, Somerset, Another World and Santa Barbara. We (all 6 of us grandkids) had to watch them until our afternoon shows came on and you kinda got hooked on them. In college a scheduled my classes around the soaps lol. My grandmother always knew what was going on if I missed a few days. Yes she was deaf, she lost her hearing at age 10, but she could read lips across an ocean lol. Brings me back. Another World was awesome. I loved/hated the characters. Rachel. Mac. Iris. Felecia. Quinn. Donna. Micheal. Reginald. Vicky/Marley. Cass. Sharlene/Sharly. Amanda. Sam. Jake. Pauline. Jaime. The story lines were so engrossing and fantastic. Yelling at the characters, screaming, crying, wishing I found a love like them..and mourning the real deaths of Mac and Ada.
@@rain73ful yes, it is. Plus, the quality of acting is not there anymore. It's quite sad. I feel it's only a matter of time before "DOOL" is off the air for good. Very, very sad.
I like that middle age actors getting juicy storylines, but I just did not like the pairing/adultery of John and Felicia. I could NEVER see Felicia as "The other woman", she had class and style. This was a mistake. Sharlene was absolutely right to be pissed off!
Wow - this is amazing stuff! Soaps for some reason were considered the lower end of the acting genre, but this is better than hollywood! Two amazing ladies who are acting their socks off! Brilliant!
Phenomenal acting , the show was on the rise during this time , until NBC behind the scenes started to destroy it bit by bit until its cancellation in 1999!
Watching a Hallmark movie (A Little Daytime Drama) and just saw Linda Dano in it!! I immediately remembered Felicia from Another World (even though I was just a young kid in preschool when my mom used to watch that soap)! 😳 Somehow I can remember _her_ and the _soaps_ yet I can barley remember what I ate for lunch today! 🤣
I liked the characters of Felicia & Sharlene. But, the John / Felicia story was beyond crossing boundaries. Leave it to Jill Phelps (Executive Producer) to semi-ruin yet another character...in Felicia, temporarily.
Can we go back to the days when Soaps were this well written and acted?
I agree!!!!!

@@chadmarkz4334 Days is my favorite as well.
i think NY based soaps /actors were just better than west coast soaps

Yes! Soap operas were so well written, acted, and directed back then!

It is fitting that these two women both won Emmys, great performances!

I would hardly say her production won GH all those acting emmys in the 00s. In fact GH was awful with Megan McTavish.
Anna Holbrook earned many Emmys but they just didn't nominate her all the times they should've.
@@UniversalMokenTroll She was on Another World that's why. AMC, GH, GL, and Y&R had the largest cast sizes at that time and racked up the nominations.
@@W81Researcher Which is something I've never understood. I always thought it was the most well-acted soap.
I love this show
This is good as Kristen and Marlena
And Annie Dutton and Reva Shane on Guiding Light.
But Another World was by far My favorite

If they had continued stories like this, the show wouldn’t have been cancelled.
NBC had it out for AW.
@@AnitaNewport very sad!!!!
Yes I wish the quality of acting would come back. Every actor looks around the set because they're not able to remember most of the lines!
Another World was super
Yeah. Soaps are a dying breed.

@@triciajohansen7124 All a question of money. Scripted drama is expensive to make, good quality actors cost more as well.
@@ThePolaroid669very, very true!!!!
This was MUST SEE TV!!!!!!!
Miss another world
I hate that most of the good soaps are no longer
Generations. Another World Guiding Light
Yes, we are left with crap.
Fabulous soap opera
These scenes were wonderful! I'm glad they both won Emmys for this!
LD won her Emmy in 93.
i love Felicia but Charlene is right as rain here

Gosh watching old clips/episodes on TH-cam and this show was fantastic.
FUCK ME.........this was FINE ass acting BOTH ladies knew how to deliver.....ROUND of Applause I miss these days of DAYTIME!!!!!!
Phenomenal acting , the show was on the rise during this time , until NBC behind the scenes started to destroy it bit by bit until its cancellation in 1999!
I love it when two BIG actresses eat the same meal! Wow that was amazing!
I was always an Another World fan, since the glorious days of Rachel.
Awesome.
0:22 .. wow such good acting 👏

They blew it they should have picked anna holbrook to play martha srewart instead of cybil shephard!!
FACTS!!!
I liked the characters of Felicia & Sharlene. But, the John / Felicia story was beyond crossing boundaries. Leave it to Jill Phelps (Executive Producer) to semi-ruin yet another character...in Felicia, temporarily.
@OzzieLee - but it won the actress who played Sharlene an EMMY - so it was worth it
Thanks for the upload 😀I hated it when they killed off Frankie..XD
Anna Holbrook deserved that Emmy I am so glad she won
I have seen interviews and read articles that both actresses hated this storyline. But, WOW, did it produce some great drama and acting!
Anna deserved her Emmy
I never cared for crazy Charlene until this amazing storyline. It was clash of the titans!
I remember them
5:18 gave me cold chills!! ..anna holbrooke should have been submitted in lead actress categorey!!
She was just incredible
Damn that must've hurt 😬 11:00
Man that woman who cheated has a lot of nerve showing up everywhere the wife is the utter gall of her really pathetic and sad
Such a shame. At one point these two were such good friends !! Nice to See Tom Eplin
This story made me HATE Felicia and almost destroyed my enjoyment of AW.
Anna Holbrook played Sharlene so much different to 70s Laurie Heineman....
And they both WON for portraying Sharlene Frame Matthews Watts Hudson Hudson!❤
Just my opinion... But I just can't stand Charlene!
