- "Another World", a beloved American television series, premiered from May 4, 1964 to June 25, 1999 on NBC screens. Transporting viewers to the fictional town of Bay City, the show's inception featured announcer Bill Wolff's poignant declaration, "We do not live in this world alone but in a thousand other worlds." Conceived by the visionary Irna Phillips in collaboration with William J Bell, the series was produced by Procter and Gamble Productions at NBC Studios, located at 1268 East 14th Street in Brooklyn. The series boasts a rich ensemble cast, many of whom continue to leave their mark on the entertainment industry. As time passes, we mourn the loss of some of these remarkable talents, but their contributions live on, shaping the television landscape. Today, we honor these luminaries whose roles have brought to life the enduring legacy of "Another World."
It was a sad day when NBC canceled Another World. I started watching it and Days of Our Lives as a child alongside my Grandmother.
Me too at 4 years old. I met Tom Eplin "Jake". I have several pictures of us together and an autographed picture of him. He was so nice.
@@QouteTheRavenNevermore I had such a crush on him. Jake McKinnon was one of my favorite characters.
@@leslieking6259 meeting him was like hanging out with an old friend. When it was my turn to go up I said "I think I'm going to pass out" 😂 he put his arms out and said "no you're not, come here and give me a hug".
Same. I spent many a summer afternoon with my Nana sitting in her hot living room silently while we watched her 'stories' together, the good ole 90s NBC lineup of Days, Another World and Santa Barbara. I'll never forget the day AW ended, 5 minutes left and Nana got up from her recliner and went to the bathroom and came back after it had finished, acting like she didn't have a care in the world. She'd never admit it but she couldn't bring herself to watch it end forever. Or maybe it was the gorilla that just freaked her out. That might have actually been it. lol
NBC had approached P&G about acquiring ownership of the series, which P&G said, "No," and NBC pulled the plug on Another World and replaced it with Passions, a soap that NBC had an ownership stake in, and AW fans didn't stick around for as Passions was targeted to a more younger crowd, and presented storylines not found on most other traditional soaps.
Days Of Our Lives stuck around for a few more years as NBC's last "legacy soap," till its move over to Peacock streaming service in 2022.
I am 65 years old....watched ANOTHER WORLD my whole childhood
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
Me too. I’m 55- I watched with my mom and Gramma. No soap opera ever came close. ❤❤❤❤❤ I miss everything about it. The memory, the show…
I am 60 and still remember my mom telling me to watch what happened on Another World, Days of our Lives, and The Doctors while she took care of my little brother! I loved Iris and Rachel! Cheers, Michael Albuquerque NM USA,
I miss the old days of all the great soap operas. My favorites were another world and days of our lives.
We need these shows back on tv. I’d give anything to see reruns of Another World or The Doctors. They should create a soap opera app where we can watch any soap from the beginning.
When soap operas had great writers. I watched with my grandma.
Me too when I was visiting her - I would play with my dolls. Years later my friends and I would get together sometimes to watch too!
Mac and Rachel...Janice and Mitch in St. Croix...1980. The BEST storyline ever to play out on any daytime drama in my opinion. The after shocks resonated for years and years.
Rest in Peace. I was disappointed when the network cancelled Another World
Douglass Watson (Mac Cory) will always be remembered with love.
I cried when Douglas Watson passed away. He and Victoria Wyndham had such a great chemistry.
I did too😢
I cried like I had lost a family member...
Cass Winthrop was THE MAN.
Yes he was!!!
I feel the same way. I remember my mom ironing clothes watching this when I get home from school. It was a very good soap.
❤️
Ray Liotta was always my favorite even after he left the show. And Cass Winthrop. Had major crushes on both of them.
I had the biggest crush on Ray Liotta😊
I loved "Another World!" I was very sad when it was canceled 😢
I loved Another World, hated when it was cancelled.
I LOVED this show as a child, as did my grandmother...Mac and Rachel were a power couple!
I miss Douglass Watson still..
I started a fan club for him when i was a teen....He called me on the phone in relation to his fanclub...will NEVER forget being told, "This is Mac Cory from Another World!"
A peak experience for me....God rest his soul❤
You sent your phone number to strangers?
I definitely remember seeing Anne Heche on that show.😢❤
She played a twin!! RIP
I saw Linda Dano on the street in NYC in 1999. I had turned a corner and almost bumped into her. She was smiling and walking with her friend. What a gorgeous woman an talented actress!
What wonderful actors we grew up with!!! Never missed a soap opera. And “Another World” was my first love. Remember Bill and Missy?
Carmen Duncan played Iris Cory Carrington Wheeler, the Dt Jamie frame was played by a male, its a great video to an outstanding soap opera that should never have been cancel
Carmen played Iris after Beverlee.
I noticed that as well...
The problem with AI voice-overs... no human checking for errors.
And Jamie Frame’s mother was Rachel Cory.
Why would you say,DR.Frame character was a male?
I’m 51 years old and remember watching this show with my grandma when I wasn’t in school
I miss all the ones that passed away
This was my favorite. Best acting.
And interesting story lines. Sorry to see it leave. Nothing else replaced it.
They should have reruns on peacock.
There are some episodes on TH-cam
I love that idea!
@@rhonda787yes but the quality is awful!
Some of the TH-cam videos have pretty good quality. Remember, they weren’t filmed to be aired in HD. I have never understood why P&G didn’t air this on some channel, there are so many now. I used to watch it in The Soap Opera Network, it should be brought back. A lot of baby boomers are retirees now and would love to go back and see storylines they missed or loved. They are missing a great opportunity.
Yes🎉🎉🎉🎉
Major omission of Jacqueline Courtney as Alice Matthews Frame.
I used to watch the show with my grandma. Loved it!
My mom didn't want to live after it went off the air. She was a loyal fan. Rest in Peace cast of Another World.
This was my grandmother's favorite. Every afternoon she and Gertrude, who worked for her, watched this together. She would prefer you not telephone during "Another World" time.❤
🤩ANNE ♥️ HECHE PLAYED TWINS 👯♀️ VICKY AND MARLEY 👌 BRILLIANTLY‼️📺 🧼☕️ 🎥 🎭
I remember that too.i watch it all the time as well.
Yes she did. I always had to remind myself that there weren’t really 2 actresses
She was a force of nature.
I preferred Ellen Wheeler but Heche was good.
I like Ellen Wheeler as Marley) Victoria.
I loved Paul Stevens who played Brian Bancroft. He was terrific. I was so upset when they canceled Another World. Miss it to this day. Watched it faithfully.
Ugh stupid AI and lack of fact checking. Anne Heche played Vicky AND Marley. Half the pictures shown depict Marley and if you're a fan of AW you can tell which is which, even in a picture.
I had the pleasure of meeting Charles Keating and Victoria Wyndham when they performed "Couplets" in Columbus, Ohio. It was a show of poetry, prose, and song based on the relationship of their characters Carl and Rachel. My sister was the one who arranged their appearance. Charles and Victoria were sweet and gracious people. Then, just after AW was cancelled (😢), Charles and his wife Mary appeared at a fundraiser for Mary's relative who had cancer. The relative lived in the next county over from me. They, along with their son, were the evening's entertainment. They were so nice and kind. My sister developed a friendship with Charles that lasted until his death.
So much talent on this show!
I miss All my children and one life to live
On AW Anne Heche played twins, Vicky and Marley.
omg i remember the shows were so good..we would race home from school mid day to watch just 15 min or more if we could
I was really sad when Brent Collins died. He was a good actor and his character got a nice funeral.
Wallingford!
😢 Another World, Bay City, Illinois. As of July 2024, this beloved soap has been gone for 25 years. It doesn't seem that long ago, yet like the hourglass , time moves forward. As we remember, they will always live in our memories ❤ Day time greetings from coastal Mississippi 🤠🐻👋
All of these stars were great RIP
I am 73 and watched 'Another World' as a child and teen. It was my favorite show.❤ These characters were family.❤
Wish they would have a channel to watch these soaps n Days on free channel
My Nana loved this show and The Edge of Night. I remember watching them with her. Great memories ❣️❣️❣️
Another World was a great soap opera and all of the characters were great I use to watch this soap opera with my Mother for years sorry to see it end ❤
Oh how I remember my Grandmother and my mother quickly making a pot of tea so they could watch ANOTHER WORLD,,, when I heard the soap was ending I recorded the last two show on VHS and the next time I was back home I placed it on my mother's grave. Just to let her know her show had ended... I felt anyone can buy flowers but this had a special meaning.. I'm sure she was watching and had a great smile and laugh from heaven knowing what I did...
Ray Liotta, even at such a young age, was a phenomenal actor
My mother watched this , As the World Turns and guiding light
Nicholas Costa was also on Little House On The Prarie as Charles father when Chales was younger This soP was great I'd watch it with my Mom
He was also in Santa Barbara
I watched in the sixties and early seventies. Lived in suburbs of nyc and would see the actors in shops and on train. Good memories 🙂
Anna Stuart (Donna Love), in the thumbnail, is also alive.
Ok.....Dr. Jamie Frame was the SON of Steve and Rachel, even tho Rachel was married to Russ Matthews when he was born. Carmen Duncan replaced Beverlee McKinsey as Iris Cory Wheeler.
Thank you. I was going to say the same thing
I agree. Jamie frame was Steve and Rachel’s child, and he was a boy.
Loved this soap opera, I also watched Days.
I grew up watching this show! Loved it! One of the best soaps.
This was my favorite soap. Watched it from the first to final episode.
That was one on best soaps
Carmen Duncan played Iris Wheeler.....I think this said she was Jamie Frame....I'm pretty certain he was played by Lawrence Lau if I remember correctly....I still love this show ❤
Yes. jamie was played by several actors, and he wasn't always a doctor. At one time he was a writer.
Lawrence was always Jamie too me 💞
You are very correct!
Absolutely loved this show!!!
Another world was my fav❤
❤’d this soap opera 😢it was cancelled. May they all RIP 😢😢😢😢😢😢
I met Douglass Watson and his lovely wife on the island of Bonaire.
Memorable and a surprise event
It was my favorite soap. I was 14 when I started watching with my mother. She loved it. I miss those times. Sad day when they canceled it
My grandma watched it when we had a nap.Our grandma was our babysitter so dad and mom could work.I watched it later on when I got older.Great stuff.I miss it and As the world turns.Santa Barbara.
This was one of my favorites that I watched with my grandmother
In the early 1980s I found myself home from work with the flu the week before Christmas. I happened to catch Another World while languishing on the couch. Such lavish Christmas decorations! What extravagant parties! What gorgeous gowns! I was hooked! Fortunately I didn't have to work between Christmas and New Years so I got 2 solid weeks of the show before heading back. Thank goodness for our VCR! For several years I taped and watched it when I got home. Who could forget Felicia and Case...and Tony the Tuna!!
My favorite soap operas.
I love this soap so much.
I guess we all watched with our grandmas!
my fav as a child
I watched with my Mom since I was a little girl, very upset when they canceled. So many great actors that are truly missed. May they RIP.
“note to give proper credit Carmen Duncan did not portray Jamie Frame, she replaced Beverly McKenzie as Iris Carrington”
RIP to all of them
I still have dreams of this soap opera! Rest in peace to all the actors that have passed.
I didn't watch when most of these characters were on. Bless them all
Steve and Alice were the first Super Couple on Daytime TV. Douglass Watson won an Emmy for Best Actor in a Daytime Drama .
Loved the theme song from 1987-1996. It always brought a smile to my face.
I loved all the soaps and these characters, they are/were beautiful people.
This is heart breaking tears to my eyes I hope they are at eternal rest with God ❤
I grew up on Another World and Days. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Constance ford was not Ada Lucas . She was Ada Hobson , McGowan .
Her maiden name was Lucas. She had a brother on the show (Sam Lucas) who became a focal character on AW spin-off Somerset.
My grandma was bothered by “Ada” seeming to always have a dish towel on her shoulder! 😂😂
She also played a character on a stranger than usual episode of the Twilight Zone.
Ada Lucas Davis Downs (Ernie Downs) McGowan Hobson
Carmen Duncan played the role as Iris Carrington also.
I remember Mrs. Roper on "Three's Company." She had me laughing.
Carmen Duncan portrayed Iris Cory daughter of Mac Cory, was not Jamie Frame as noted. Jamie Frame was the male son of Rachelle Frame who later married Mac Cory. Jamie Frame’s male character grew up to be a medical Doctor on the show. Carmen Duncan portrayed a convincing and believable Iris.
Irene Dailey played Liz Matthews, I do not remember Audrey Lindley. Audrey Lindley played Mrs Roper on Threes Company.
Loved the show for many years, but it was never quite the same once Douglass Watson (Mac Cory) passed away.
Sorry Diane, but Audra Lindley was the first Liz Matthews and a major storyline with her son Bill and his wife Missy. She was gone from the show for years until she was recast by Irene Dailey, who portrayed the character until the end of the show.
@@lindahuetson5779 That must have been before my time, I only remember Irene Dailey as Liz Matthews. Thank you so much…😁
In high school the boys teased us for watching this. Funny thing, if any of us were off school for a day, it was the boys who secretly approached us for an update!😂 I remember Willis the most. And Alma!
Alma Rudder the hillbilly who drove Blaine nutso!
I watched this miss it
Loved this show, i was so upset when we lost it... i watched for years starting as a kid yet
My mom wasn’t allowed to watch the show at home so she would sneak over to my Grandma’s and wait for my Grandpa to go to sleep to watch it, she got me hooked.
I loved the RACHEL character❤
Jacqueline Courtney who played Alice Matthews was not mentioned, the love affair between her and Steven Frame with Rachel interfering was something else.
Carmen Duncan did NOT play Jamie Frame! Jamie Frame was a male character who was portrayed by a series of ten actors (most notably Laurence Lau and Russell Todd). Iris Wheeler was portrayed by three actresses, all of whom have passed on. If you're gonna make a video, at least get the basics accurate.
Clarice, Alma, Carl, Cass, Felicia, Wallingford, ....❤
They should renew it put it back on tv
You forgot about Jacqueline Courtney who played Alice Matthews Frame. She died December 2010.
Used to watch this as a kid with my grandmother. She would swear at Rachel in Polish. I learned all the bad Polish words watching this soap with my late grandmother. 😂
Who’s left on passion & who’s left on another world 😊
this was the first Soap opera I had watched and loved it!...once cancelled I started watching General Hospital
It was originally told in Soap Digest that Doug Watson had a heart attack on the set and died.
He was on vacation in Arizona
Carman Duncan, did not play Dr Jamie Frame, which was a male actor, but played Iris Carrington Wheeler
i watched this with my late Mom 😢😢😢😢😢
Loved this soap sad when they cancelled it.
Carmen Duncan played Iris, Mac’s daughter. Idk what character they’re saying she played.
It's amazing that The Proctor and Gamble Company is no longer in the television business, hence the words "soap opera". ☹️
Was one of my favourite
I think the computer blew a gasket. Jamie Frame portrayed by Carmen Duncan? I don't think you could get that more wrong. Also, video of Alex Wheeler is shown instead of Brian Bancroft.
I watched this show.
