I was looking for how to repair a sill for a window. This will work well for me. However that really looks like a step. I'm not convinced it would last long with people walking on it.
That's a very interesting method for a repair. I would have done it with sand and cement but your method makes sense. Are you using modified thinset mortar or just regular thinset mortar?
