Budget. Buy used skiies privately. I bought a set of Elan skis 188cm with some bindings for $60. Use them twice and rental is paid for. Do the same foe poles. Check rental pricing. If you can get boots poles board for less than 3 rentals. You got a great deal.
I will buy my own boots as well. Rentals are great if you are new and trying skiing for the first year. Also if you travel, your boots fit in your luggage. You can always rent skis from the hill you are vacationing to. Enjoy the slopes.
Boots can be so expensive but they really do contribute to helping with one of the most common complaints from newbie riders; discomfort! So happy you love your boots though! What kind did you end up going with?! @lexcilately

I would by shoes and clothes and rent board. No storage problems but so nice to use your own boots
