    LYRICS:
Gone is the hurt, the wait
Gone is the warmth of day
A stray boat saved, happy memories engraved
    On into a velvety night
    Beneath a lanternlight
Last night brought the heaviest of snows
    Melting the songs of old
Tying the boat, write a new one soon
Sending me to the drowning moon
    Far above a lanternlight
I`m in the light and flood
    I`m in the four winds
I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems
I am the snow on your palm
    I am the secret stream
    Moss beneath your feet
I am you who climbed off of my back
    Not long ago
    A sheltered song
    In a world now gone
    Petrichor
    The timeless
    Turn loose the swaying boat
    Meltwater, sound of spring
I hear our song now, sung by the free
    For a thousand more tomorrows
    Of an incomplete weave
    To the meadows I go
    I’ll be waiting for you
    Once upon a lanternlight
I walk now toward the trees
The night falling at my feet
    Into the forest of Yesterwynde

I was listening to the new album on the day I received news of my mother's imminent passing. This song came on and, while heavily poetic with the metaphors that will take a few listens to fully appreciate, Floor made the sentiment shine through as clear as a lantern in the dark... I'm just broken by the most beautiful and touching verse of lyrics "I am you who climbed off my back". This is so powerful and touches so deeply the soul. Don't worry my darling, go proudly ahead your life, I am there, just inside you, I'm a part of your heart, mentality, education, habits. I am truly a biological part of yourself and thus we still go together side by side through life. This is so sad and beautiful at the same time. Love and respect to everybody from Belgium.

Even after decades of being in love with and spellbound by Nightwish, angelic creations like "Lanternlight" always make me feel like coming home whenever these once-in-a-lifetime artists release a new album - a sentiment of ascending to the "Meadows of Heaven" formerly sung about, like a hearth fire warming the soul in the eternal winter people create by what they're doing to this beautiful planet, like a silky-soft blanket covering the wounds life inflicted on so many of us with the solace of picturesque poetry and verses from a world of ethereal peace.❄️🌙🤍🕯No matter which era of Nightwish we're talking about, no matter what singer has been bringing these monuments of music to life, it's always Tuomas' infinite spirit that's shining through and setting Nightwish apart from any other band. I'm speaking of the Nightwish feel that is being evoked no matter which song you're listening to, a safe haven where all ocean souls can feel understood and embraced by the lines of someone who has proven to be the greatest poet and composer of our time. "Lanternlight" is the perfect end of "Yesterwynde" - it brings me back to teenage days when Nightwish became my shelter, and it still envisions itself as a journey to new shores. I was shivering in the most positive sense when listening to it for the first time - and I couldn't imagine any other end to this new chapter of grandeur. This emotive romanticism speaks to my soul in a way I can't even clothe in words.🖤✨️🌙🕯🎶

Don't think of your friends as boring and shallow. Just different. People look to music to fulfill different purposes in their lives. Some people, like you and I, see music as artwork, meant to move and inspire, to be filled with power snd beauty and emotion. But for other people, music is a background companion, to keep them company, or entertainment, to dance or sing along to, or a way to influence their mood to keep them happy or motivated. It's ok for music to be different things to different people, but I hear you - I wish I had friends who appreciated the same things as me to share this experience with.

The warmth, the vocal intonation Floor and Troy bring out in song and expression is just so unusal from Nightwish that as I listen again I hear different sounds i hadn't heard before, truly one of Tuomas' masterpieces and I hope he and the band get the recognition they truly deserve! There have been great bands in history, but few of them envolved as Nightwish does. Its eras are not marked by singers, but by exploring. I think that, among other things, this song is in part a tribute to Tuomas' father who he lost during the Covid quarantines and which was especially tough for him. There are lyrics in referencing back to "Our Decades in the Sun" which was written before his father passed but also references to him, Tuomas, being of "the timeless" which coincides with the first single from this album and Tuomas being his fathers descendant is "the perfume of the timeless" as are all who honor our fore-bearers memories and keep them close within us. Just my first thoughts on this incredible song!

When the instrumental started about a minute and a half in, I stood in our tiny kitchen thinking about how much i wish my mom was still here to enjoy this beautiful music with... and then Floor sang:
"I'm in the light and flood
    I'm in the four winds
I'm the waves, shaping pebbles, flawless gems
I am the snow on your palm
    I am the secret stream
    Moss beneath your feet
I am you who climbed off my back
    Not long ago"
And i felt like my mom was speaking directly to me, and for a few moments, I felt her love and her presence in a way i haven't for years. And then she sang, "to the meadows i go, I'll be waiting for you", and i sobbed like a baby.
Thank you, Tuomas, Floor, Jukka, Emppu, Kai, and of course Troy for giving us this masterpiece of a song, and of an album. This is the most beautiful, soul gripping, heart stringing, fulfilling, masterful celebration for, and remembrance of, Tuomas’, anyone’s, father ❤️‍🔥 Tuomas is an absolute musical & LYRICAL genius!
My father, the strongest man I know and the cornerstones of my entire being/life, passed on cpl of years ago; on the waining hour of my Birthday. He had endured physically and emotionally for 20+ years after multiple strokes and health challenges. His peaceful passing on was a true blessing; so much so that I had yet to shed one tear; until now!
The combination of Tuomas’ yet another compositional and lyrical masterpiece and its manifestation by Floor and Troy, Nightwish. finally opened , on a good note, my floodgates 💦💦😭😭
No amount of Finnish 🇫🇮 inner strength enhancing, emotion blocking, words (sisu, saatana, perkele) could hold back the desperately needed and necessary outpouring of emotions; reflections, remembrance, appreciation, flashbacks, re-lived joy, 💙 4 ❄️, and eternal love. Genuine happy tears do have healing powers!
Tuomas, Floor, Nightwish, “Lanternlight” -💙 and thank you to The G.O.A.T. IMHO, there has never been, there will never be, another Nightwish!

Nightwish showed us the peak of the music, and now they give us philosophy.
Only mature adults can understand and enjoy it.
The children will cry for Tarja forever.

Tarja is also a good singer, but Floor, whose singing you can hear the voice of the heart and soul, Tuomas and the entire Nightwish team are a link to higher levels in the music universe.

Yes. Nobody states that Tarja is not a good singer. Probaly the best in the operatic metal. But NW surpassed the limited genre of symphonic metal long ago. Toumas write hymnes to life and death. Now they play on other area of the music which is bigger and more meaningful. This kind of art needs a special artist who can bring the masterpieces to the hearts and souls: this is Floor.

You have the understanding of it, sir. There is so much here for those who can hear it. This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. It is exquisite. I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I am the last of the Dorrity line. So this performance runs deep, cuts deep. I understand the feeling of loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. No small thing to live with intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. There is a tenderness and vulnerability there that I have not heard before, and it just breaks you. And her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. I am not ashamed to say that this staggeringly beautiful composition and the meaning behind it makes me want to cry on Floor’s shoulder. I’m sure she would understand. The poetry of this song is also heart-rendingly exquisite. It is a poem, a prayer, an elegy. Listen to it. Just listen to it. Tuomas’ poetry can easily stand alone. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.

This song makes me cry. I lost my mother when I was 13 and something here brings out the feelings I tend to hide and bottle up inside me. It's her voice that does it. If it was sung by anyone else, I could make it through without showing my emotions.
