I needed to hear this song today. Today marks 9 years that I lost my precious mother. I know this song was something that needed to be heard on this day at this time. Thank you Tuomas for being vulnerable with us, but thank you for giving us who have lost someone valuable to us a chance to hear this! Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful!
I was listening to the new album on the day I received news of my mother's imminent passing. It's so refreshing, a band that still makes real music, with structure, great melody, emotion and impeccable performance. Bands like Nightwish are the lanternlights of modern music.

Lanternlight is so incredibly beautiful. Tears rolled again down my face. How is it possible?? This is a once in a lifetime type thing. Thank you Nightwish.

Such a beautiful love story of loves lost and loves found. It is a timeless dance of the human soul seeking connection to I/other and our ancestors. This love light is eternal and still guides us to the heart of love. It is this love which has lighted our path even through our darkest times and continues to guide us throughout generations and present time. It's a beautiful and timeless love story. Sung beautifully by Floor and masterfully written by Tuomas. Thank you so much for this masterpiece.
Even after decades of being in love with and spellbound by Nightwish, angelic creations like "Lanternlight" always make me feel like coming home whenever these once-in-a-lifetime artists release a new album - a sentiment of ascending to the "Meadows of Heaven" formerly sung about, like a hearth fire warming the soul in the eternal winter people create by what they're doing to this beautiful planet, like a silky-soft blanket covering the wounds life inflicted on so many of us with the solace of picturesque poetry and verses from a world of ethereal peace.❄️🌙🤍🕯No matter which era of Nightwish we're talking about, no matter what singer has been bringing these monuments of music to life, it's always Tuomas' infinite spirit that's shining through and setting Nightwish apart from any other band. I'm speaking of the Nightwish feel that is being evoked no matter which song you're listening to, a safe haven where all ocean souls can feel understood and embraced by the lines of someone who has proven to be the greatest poet and composer of our time. "Lanternlight" is the perfect end of "Yesterwynde" - it brings me back to teenage days when Nightwish became my shelter, and it still envisions itself as a journey to new shores. I was shivering in the most positive sense when listening to it for the first time - and I couldn't imagine any other end to this new chapter of grandeur. This emotive romanticism speaks to my soul in a way I can't even clothe in words.🖤✨️🌙🕯🎶
I couldn't have said it better... I remember vividly hearing them for the first time more than twenty years ago and the way my body and soul reacted to the music. They've walked with me, everyday through life, ever since. I've loved them, I've adored them, I've been frustrated and angry and heartbroken and over the moon happy with them and they are literally woven into the path of my life and I am so grateful. I love your comment, it encompasses perfectly my experience with this amazing band. Like @martinwettig3724 said: you spoke from the heart of many life-long fans and ocean souls... beautiful, thank you. 🖤
@martinwettig3724 It means the world to read these words from you and from any other ocean soul out there - especially on a release day like this.🖤✨️🙏 Let's celebrate together, the band deserves it for all they have done throughout decades!🕯
This song reminds me the value of being alive, to share with beloved people that lives their days and nights with me. I was listening to this with my mother... Then I came to my bedroom to cry. Thank you Floor, Tuomas and all in Nightwish. I'm feeling lucky to have you and my loved ones.
I started listening to Nightwish when I was 14 years old. And now, 7 years later, this band was and remains my favorite. Tuomas’ songs shaped me both as a person and as an aspiring composer. My music project wouldn’t exist if Nightwish didn’t exist. The music of this band has always given me the feeling that someone is embracing me without touching me. If you, Tuomas, are reading this comment - thank you so much. You’ve awakened my potential to create and feel music. I can confidently call you the father of my creativity. Thank you!
I first heard Nightwish over twenty years ago. Sitting here, reminiscing about the times that have been and gone. One of the great finds that has stayed with me through the years.
Listening to this song with my 5 year old daughter Luccy before taking her to school and watching how she was so attentive to the song and sharing the same love for Nightwish made my eyes fill with tears. Fabulous song, they are admirable. Long live Nightwish❤❤❤🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🤘🫂
67 year old man....a really big tough guy, and Floors voice in this song has me crying. It's another Masterpiece by Tuomas Holopainen.... and Floor....she's a once in a lifetime vocalist. I can't wait for my CD to arrive! I know I will listen to it over and over again!
It's makes me remember my grandfather and grandma. Grandfather hear Nightwish with me when I was 14 and grandma passed away 4 months ago. Both was my lanternlight in life and still being!! ❤
Okay Nightwish army! You'll understand this. I get so frustrated with my friends because I know they are too shallow and boring to appreciate this music, this song, this unbelievable talent. 😞😒
Don't think of your friends as boring and shallow. Just different. People look to music to fulfill different purposes in their lives. Some people, like you and I, see music as artwork, meant to move and inspire, to be filled with power snd beauty and emotion. But for other people, music is a background companion, to keep them company, or entertainment, to dance or sing along to, or a way to influence their mood to keep them happy or motivated. It's ok for music to be different things to different people, but I hear you - I wish I had friends who appreciated the same things as me to share this experience with.
Just an honest advice: Don't listen to this ultra deep emotional NIghtwish songs before a business meeting.. And, as always, Nightwish delivers! But not just amazing songs, but the voice of the soul itself! Thanks a lot, in many ways ❤
The more I listen to the album, the more I love it. It's very complete and strong. Lanternlight is still one of my favorite, I got chills with Floor's voice and the lyrics.
This song has to be one their most amazing accomplishments, I've been listening it on my pre-order ever since it arrived. The warmth, the vocal intonation Floor and Troy bring out in song and expression is just so unusal from Nightwish that as I listen again I hear different sounds i hadn't heard before, truly one of Tuomas' masterpieces and I hope he and the band get the recognition they truly deserve! Kittos Nightwish!
0:13 here is a really fun fact: that area is where Tuomas got the idea of Nightwish while sitting around a campfire surrounded by friends and singing and playing songs. in short, that area is the birthplace of my favorite band, Nightwish!!
O My Lord .. 3 days I listen to this song ... 3 packs tissues and counting😂 ... Nightwish & Floor Jansen , you guys cut my heart in pieces with this song 💖💖💖🤩
Another thing to admire on this amazing singer Floor Jansen is the fact that she does no hide her marks of time on her face, what make her even more naturaly beautyful
@@jackkilman8726 I didn't know that it was written for his father... That's so touching because without know it, I thought in my father that was gone 4 years ago when I heard it. Such a beautiful and wonderful song for our beloved ones that are in a better place, indeed. ✨💙💫
I clicked on this all excited because it was a new Nightwish song. What I ended up with is the most beautiful soulful ballad for my soul. I am crying and I don't know why. This is so beautiful and touching. Oh Nightwish and Floor. Please don't stop your creative journey. We all need you. There are so many difficulties in life. And we can all overcome those together with the power of love and music.
There have been great bands in history, but few of them envolved as Nightwish does. Its eras are not marked by singers, but by exploring. Beauty of the beast, an era of passion and romantic exploration, gothic motifs and power. Eva, a deep song about inner exploring, sweet and moving. Now Lanternlight: Exploring life borders... The unpredictable, I don't even know how to describe it. Exquisite album.
I just have one simple thing to say. What a beautiful, beautiful song! I sat, speechless as I listened to this masterpiece. Damn, Tuomas! What will you give us next?
One of the things that I love about Floor is that in the era of botox and fillers, she has none. I love every wrinkle on her face, she is so expressive. I love that about her. I hope she will stay the same and I wish her to be healthy.
This song tears you apart and yet finds a way to mend the cracks. Floor's voice has a unique ability to resonate with your very core, awakening emotions you didn’t even know were there.
I played this song to my wife yesterday (she has an aneurysm and the beginnings of dementia). She smiled during this song and at the end spontaneously said that this song should be played at her funeral and at that moment I could no longer hold back my tears and then it was she who took me in her arms.
I wish you many more wonderful days together. It takes strength to cope with the coming times. Like an ice cave that slowly loses the strength to continue to show its beauty through the rays of the sun, it hurts to see the person you love slowly leave. I experienced the same thing with my father.
What a wonderful song. Wistful, yearning yet hopeful. I can't imagine any other band capable of producing the song and video. Floori is simply magnificent and Troy adds the final touch. We are the lucky ones living in the Nightwish era. Thank you guys for being here.
And maybe a change of perspective, from the person remaining to the one leaving or having left. Not sorrowful but simply flowing with the sequence of life and death, meanwhile a silent shout out to every person having meaning and value.
When a band ends an album with a song like this, instead of a powerful song with energy....you know that the entire album is special. But...this is Nightwish we are talking about here.
Hey Tarot, Nightwish is such a great band with the most versatile female singer in the world, Floor Jansen.Tip for your next Nightwish…Ghost Love Score ( Wacken 2013). Greetings from the Netherlands
Nightwish came up on my feed three years ago, at the time I thought what have I just listened to. No other band comes close to generating the emotions you feel when listening to Nightwish, they are in a class of their own. Like the rest of us, you will be left wondering how is it possible to have never heard of this wonderful band before
Bravo Tuomas, Floor, & Nightwish for providing this emotional, soothing, calming, haunting, palpable journey. Felt like a ballad, a musical, a soundtrack, a journal into the abyss of the ones experiences in life, love, loss, dreams, & memories. Can't imagine hearing & experiencing this one live. Get to the United States!
This song breaks you into a million pieces and it heals you at the same time. No one has ever touched me with her voice the way Floor does, it touches your soul and pulls at the heart strings 💜💜
I think that, among other things, this song is in part a tribute to Tuomas' father who he lost during the Covid quarantines and which was especially tough for him. There are lyrics in referencing back to "Our Decades in the Sun" which was written before his father passed but also references to him, Tuomas, being of "the timeless" which coincides with the first single from this album and Tuomas being his fathers descendant is "the perfume of the timeless" as are all who honor our fore-bearers memories and keep them close within us. Just my first thoughts on this incredible song!
Nightwish is a spirit, a musical entity beyond the past, the mentor is called Tuomas Holopainen , Floor Jansen, was the best choice for this band, a range of vocal versatility, without being addicted to just one type of singing This music is the poetic melody of finitude, of the return of everything that is alive to nature itself with our death.😭
I have known Nightwish for almost 20 years, and each time, they deliver a song that hits my feelings. I think Floor addition to the band was a gift from the universe. Her voice convey all the emotions Tuomas meant to deliver in his writings.
What I appreciate the most in this composition is the ending - I feel most artists would have ended the song on the sad notes, but you guys let the song develop further and ended it with a more hopeful tone. Thank you for that, it was an unexpected but welcome relief at the end.
In a beautiful suburban home on a cold winter night in the northeast, a elder man who lived a fulfilled life who accomplished his dreams spoke to his children. "Sons, I want you to remember something before I pass on to what is beyond. Remember to row yourself to that distant shore, no matter the adversity. You're going to continue making me so proud. I love all of you. Love one another and always remember to love yourselves and your purpose in life.I hear your grandmother and all her brothers and sisters. I love all of you. Until we meet again,". The next day, they honored their father and cried. 'I wish our father was still alive. He was our Lanternlight,". Love your parents & remind them of that. Loved the album btw!
@@felipemaulen5957 This is honestly a short story written by myself. Always have had a talent for writing and honestly wanting to use that for my own channel. It's time to pursue what I am truly passionate about.
@@felipemaulen5957 Actually, this is something I typed while listening to the song. I tend to do this with songs that convey a lot of emotion especially Two Steps From Hell.
For those saying this isn’t Nightwish, let it be reminded that the original concept for the band was a Folk, ballad-driven group. Tarja changed that, and the tradition went on. NW has always been primarily about feeling, science, fantasy, and culture.
Honestly, this is the most moving song I've ever heard. Floor's interpretation is perfectly accurate, even more so than usual... You're carried away by this mixture of beauty and sadness, it's almost too strong.
Sadness-happyness Darkness- light Disappointment-hope Ice-warmth All emotions of our lives, traveling in time, from the past to the present. Words like "perfect" and "wonderful" are not enough to describe this result of Tuomas's music and Floor's vocals. Also the music video of course. Thank you Nightwish ! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The perfect conclusion to Yesterwynde and the trilogy started with Endless Forms Most Beautiful... ❤ An emotional and touching piece of art that will stays forever in our hearts and souls! Thank you Nightwish, we love you ❤❤
Yes, Nightwish have evolved, and its just pure and beautiful. Lots of musicians can always just repeat again and again few songs in slightly different composition, but not Nightwish. Always fresh, always truly and just splendid songs, and I thank you for it.
When the instrumental started about a minute and a half in, I stood in our tiny kitchen thinking about how much i wish my mom was still here to enjoy this beautiful music with... and then Floor sang: "I'm in the light and flood I'm in the four winds I'm the waves, shaping pebbles, flawless gems I am the snow on your palm I am the secret stream Moss beneath your feet I am you who climbed off my back Not long ago" And i felt like my mom was speaking directly to me, and for a few moments, I felt her love and her presence in a way i haven't for years. And then she sang, "to the meadows i go, I'll be waiting for you", and i sobbed like a baby. Thank you, Tuomas, Floor, Jukka, Emppu, Kai, and of course Troy for giving us this masterpiece of a song, and of an album. I wish my mom was still here to experience it with me... but I'm so thankful that i get to be alive to experience it myself, and get my mom back, even if just for a few moments.
I know these guys are quite known worldwide, but they should be put in the top list of the best bands ever created, with the likes of Queen, Rush and others
I agree, but the best bands ever created are from the 60's. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Young Rascals, etc. Nightwish with Floor should be on that list.
Unfortunately they are not well known in the USA. It's rare I've met someone who knows who nightwish is. They are very well known in European countries because they haven't been influenced by what Americans calls music. This is what true talent looks and sounds like!
Speechless on how beautiful this is and how great the new album truly is! Floor and Tuomas together is one of the best things this planet has produced! Thank you Nighwish! ❤
The orchestration, the energy, the passion-Nightwish at their finest! Every song feels like a masterpiece, and this video took it to another level. Bravo! 👏🔥
This is the most beautiful, soul gripping, heart stringing, fulfilling, masterful celebration for, and remembrance of, Tuomas’, anyone’s, father ❤️🔥 Tuomas is an absolute musical & LYRICAL genius! My father, the strongest man I know and the cornerstones of my entire being/life, passed on cpl of years ago; on the waining hour of my Birthday. He had endured physically and emotionally for 20+ years after multiple strokes and health challenges. His peaceful passing on was a true blessing; so much so that I had yet to shed one tear; until now! The combination of Tuomas’ yet another compositional and lyrical masterpiece and its manifestation by Floor and Troy, Nightwish. finally opened , on a good note, my floodgates 💦💦😭😭 No amount of Finnish 🇫🇮 inner strength enhancing, emotion blocking, words (sisu, saatana, perkele) could hold back the desperately needed and necessary outpouring of emotions; reflections, remembrance, appreciation, flashbacks, re-lived joy, 💙 4 ❄️, and eternal love. Genuine happy tears do have healing powers! Tuomas, Floor, Nightwish, “Lanternlight” -💙 and thank you to The G.O.A.T. IMHO, there has never been, there will never be, another Nightwish!
Ah! Floor is melting your soul with her emotional and dreamy voice. The song hits you deep. Tuomas what you wrote man? Troy also incredible support voice. The orchestrations epic. No words. Queen Floor nailed it.❤
Nightwish showed us the peak of the music, and now they give us philosophy. Only mature adults can understand and enjoy it. The children will cry for Tarja forever.
Tarja is also a good singer, but Floor, whose singing you can hear the voice of the heart and soul, Tuomas and the entire Nightwish team are a link to higher levels in the music universe.
@@ViaVeritas Yes. Nobody states that Tarja is not a good singer. Probaly the best in the operatic metal. But NW surpassed the limited genre of symphonic metal long ago. Toumas write hymnes to life and death. Now they play on other area of the music which is bigger and more meaningful. This kind of art needs a special artist who can bring the masterpieces to the hearts and souls: this is Floor.
You have the understanding of it, sir. There is so much here for those who can hear it. This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. It is exquisite. I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I am the last of the Dorrity line. So this performance runs deep, cuts deep. I understand the feeling of loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. No small thing to live with intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. There is a tenderness and vulnerability there that I have not heard before, and it just breaks you. And her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. I am not ashamed to say that this staggeringly beautiful composition and the meaning behind it makes me want to cry on Floor’s shoulder. I’m sure she would understand. The poetry of this song is also heart-rendingly exquisite. It is a poem, a prayer, an elegy. Listen to it. Just listen to it. Tuomas’ poetry can easily stand alone. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.
This song makes me cry. I lost my mother when I was 13 and something here brings out the feelings I tend to hide and bottle up inside me. It's her voice that does it. If it was sung by anyone else, I could make it through without showing my emotions.

LYRICS:
Gone is the hurt, the wait
Gone is the warmth of day
A stray boat saved, happy memories engraved
On into a velvety night
Beneath a lanternlight
Last night brought the heaviest of snows
Melting the songs of old
Tying the boat, write a new one soon
Sending me to the drowning moon
Far above a lanternlight
I`m in the light and flood
I`m in the four winds
I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems
I am the snow on your palm
I am the secret stream
Moss beneath your feet
I am you who climbed off of my back
Not long ago
A sheltered song
In a world now gone
Petrichor
The timeless
Turn loose the swaying boat
Meltwater, sound of spring
I hear our song now, sung by the free
For a thousand more tomorrows
Of an incomplete weave
To the meadows I go
I’ll be waiting for you
Once upon a lanternlight
I walk now toward the trees
The night falling at my feet
Into the forest of Yesterwynde

When you lost someone important, this song hits hard 😢
This song reminds me the value of being alive, to share with beloved people that lives their days and nights with me. I was listening to this with my mother... Then I came to my bedroom to cry. Thank you Floor, Tuomas and all in Nightwish. I'm feeling lucky to have you and my loved ones.
This made me cry. I lost my wife, 17 years ago. It still hurts, like it was yesterday. A very Beautiful song. From the heart.
So sorry to read this. My mom and dad died 10 and 9 years ago. The more you love the more it hurts. This made me also cry.
For me, it is 47 years, but not long to go now. And even now I thank God for the 3 years and a day that we had.
Thank you!

Man, I need someone to hold and cry with listening to this together. I may never find another song again that touches my soul so swiftly and keeps it.
Okay Nightwish army! You'll understand this. I get so frustrated with my friends because I know they are too shallow and boring to appreciate this music, this song, this unbelievable talent. 😞😒
"We" "The Amy" can Relate!!!!
You're nor alone. You'll never be. 🙂

The more I listen to the album, the more I love it. It's very complete and strong.
Lanternlight is still one of my favorite, I got chills with Floor's voice and the lyrics.
Same.
Nightwish is consistently amazing, but this may very well be their most beautiful song I have ever heard.
This is so beautiful. 😢❤ The voice of an angel.
0:13 here is a really fun fact: that area is where Tuomas got the idea of Nightwish while sitting around a campfire surrounded by friends and singing and playing songs. in short, that area is the birthplace of my favorite band, Nightwish!!

I almost cried listening to Lanterlight. Man, her vocals... She never ceases to amaze me.
What do you mean almost??😢
sad Tuomas dont used her voice on 100% on albums... just 25-30% i dk why... he afraid that he will sing better than his music? same thing on Sirenia

Bravo Tuomas, Floor, & Nightwish for providing this emotional, soothing, calming, haunting, palpable journey.
Nightwish is a spirit, a musical entity beyond the past, the mentor is called Tuomas Holopainen ,
Floor Jansen, was the best choice for this band, a range of vocal versatility, without being addicted to just one type of singing
This music is the poetic melody of finitude, of the return of everything that is alive to nature itself with our death.😭

When the instrumental started about a minute and a half in, I stood in our tiny kitchen thinking about how much i wish my mom was still here to enjoy this beautiful music with... and then Floor sang:
"I'm in the light and flood
I'm in the four winds
I'm the waves, shaping pebbles, flawless gems
I am the snow on your palm
I am the secret stream
Moss beneath your feet
I am you who climbed off my back
Not long ago"
And i felt like my mom was speaking directly to me, and for a few moments, I felt her love and her presence in a way i haven't for years. And then she sang, "to the meadows i go, I'll be waiting for you", and i sobbed like a baby.
