As Tuomas implied in a recent interview, in this song, Floor represents the evil of what the world may be facing (and, in my opinion, taking on a role previously reserved for Marko) while the children's choir represents the hope for a better and brighter outcome and future. I absolutely love this as well as Perfume of the Timeless. I am anxiously biding my time for the upcoming September release of the entire album.

High praise for the risk taking in this track. I love how far from your standards it is while still feeling quite Nightwish at some point. The song confused me at the first listening but slowly starts to grow deeply. And I love how the aesthetics makes it a right succesor to Noise. Looking forward to September, 20th
Tuomas has decided to write songs about mankind, its great discoveries, art, music, science but also its awful sides, manipulation, greed, wars and using fear in societys and as a political tool. All this good and bad we humans do in a paradise planet which could provide meaningful life to all if we come to our sences. Nightwish songs are very positive and greatly layered and leaves you uplifted after listening to it. To make a song of fear itself (or as a tool) makes no sence to write it with positive lyrics. The Day Of...is great in every respect and it leaves you thinking about that fear matter, which is important. Sometimes I think that Nightwish was hired by UN to educate us rockn roll humans.😊😊
First off I really like this song and its new sound, I love it when they do something new and also try different ways of doing the verses (also great pronunciation by Floor). And as always the lyrics are absolutely brilliant. I also have to say that having the children's choir sing the refrain is a great idea and for those who complain about this, it literally says "We are the ill-starred kids...". The only thing I would have liked them to do more with is the part after the amazing instrumental part. It's such a nice build-up just to immediately slow down again and start with another verse? I know they can do much better. I usually like how they play with qieter/silent moments but I think it doesn't fit at this point of the song. I have to agree with others when saying that Floor's voice is not used to its full potential. I adore her operatic head voice, which I've missed in the latest albums, and I think they could have done something a bit more dramatic after that instrumental part with her voice and maybe some dark violins so it feels more dramatic. But the ending of the song is very well done and sounds very cool. I'm looking forward to the rest of the album!
Thank you, again, Nightwish. Also, my impressions from this single, are that it was meant to be a single; and I believe that the contract with the producer must include short length songs. So my take is that Tuomas is taking this "opportunity" to share a message to the world. It reminds me of "Noise", and it was also a single, and also short length. :)
Greetings from Wisconsin USA , 20 years fan and This Is awesome , Love it , Thank you Nightwish for making my life better each time you release a new song or Album !!!
I have to admit, I really had to sit with the song and after many listens, I was coming to the conclusion that it was one of those extremely rare occasions where I simply didn't like the song but seeing it together with the video music it clicked - I get it and I think together they tell an incredible story. Incredible cinematography and thank you, Nightwish, for another masterpiece 🖤
Exactly the same feeling about the song. Not what I expected, but Nightwish music style evolved. Everyone is evolving, regardless of our expectations. Still trying to figure out how I feel about it, because it's not what I used to listen.

Always funny to see people comment “it doesn’t sound like the old …”. What do people expect? Do they expect artists to keep making the same album over and over again? It’s like asking Leonardo da Vinci to always paint the same painting, just with slightly different colours.
It's not changes per say that makes fans abandon bands,it's when the alterations are poorly done. There have been changes throughout the 28 years but they still maintained decent success until a decade ago,so the change stuff is a cop out.

LMAO. This is exactly the problem with Nightwish the last five years or so. Too many of you are just floor fan and not fans of the band, that’s why you don’t ride with them no matter what they do in the music.
The feeling of falling throughout the entire film makes me uncomfortable, and I love it. It fits the music so well! I absolutely fell in love with it, you have deeply affected me with this one. Well done Nightwish, Stobe and Khimo 😘
Wow, love how this song has a fresh feel but still has that unmistakable Nightwish sound. They’ve managed to evolve while staying true to what makes them great, and the music video is a masterpiece, perfectly complementing the song’s powerful vibe. ❤
Hear Jukka groove on that bass btw!! It's even danceable. 😎 My fav part of the song is from 1:14 to 1:19. I really like Floor's vocallines on that part and the way it sounds and then continue singing and hear Jukka groove again.😄
I'll admit I've watched this when I'm high, and omg every sentence makes sense, the song is amazing, whole video speaks words. Wonderful tune. We are....? Let's exist. ❤️
Don't you like it, just listen to songs, you want to hear. Why people write all this shit in the coments. I miss times, when people wasn't so effusive and rude. It's someone's hard work, if you can't appreciate - go your own way and don't insult artists.
The classic reaction of people with a small range of tastes, happens to all bands. When they evolve, some fans don't. That's ok actually. But those fans become irrationally bitter. It's as human as a reaction can get lol
This is the most accurate description. I’ve heard of fans who don’t like change. “A small range of tastes, become, bitter, don’t even evolve”. People will not like that you said it, but it’s true, lol. I’ve been that way a few times in the past myself.
It’s absolutely fantastic!! So deep, scary, dystopian, dark! Blinded by fear! But also reminder to make the best of the time and not to live in fear all the time. Make a difference!
I wasn't really feeling this song until the abrupt change at "Too late; gather up." That caught my attention, and then everything after that was great. Now going back to the beginning, I like the whole thing.
Took me a moment to get into this one on first listen, but it’s rapidly growing on me. There’s something deeply intriguing about this song that I can’t quite put my finger on, and it makes me want to go back and listen to it a dozen more times just so I can absorb what’s happening musically and what is being said lyrically. Like, there’s some serious depth to this one and I’m not quite getting it yet, but I want to understand it. I suspect this one’s gonna be a banger if they ever do it live, that bridge section is phenomenal. - 2nd watch, I am really digging this song, and I’m deeply disturbed by it. There’s something here that’s just giving me dread and I can’t quite put my finger on it yet. The combination of the music and the video images is really something, they do such good music videos these days. I think I’m starting to understand it more, I feel like they’re talking about fear-mongering and how it’s used to manipulate and control people, and how we just lap it up, but it’s hard to tell without the lyrics available just yet. At least, that’s the vibe I’m getting from the music and the video.
I'm with you 100% wasn't too sure when I first heard it, then replayed it a second time, then a 3rd and 4th. And I think you're right about what the meaning behind the song is too, at least partially; it's not just about how other use fear to manipulate us and we're complicit in it, it's also about how we actively find the worst and darkest parts and focus on that. There are a couple of lines in the third verse; 'A need to feel dread, gloom, awe, A lust for never-ending doom porn', which describes this perfectly. And in the clip, the men are sitting down, unrestrained, and raise their hand voluntarily to have eyedrops applied, rather than in say 'A Clockwork Orange' with a similar scene where the main character is restrained and has to be forced in order to watch the horrific images being flashed at him from the screen.
Mankind is wrecking the nature it needs to survive, synthesizing pandemics in labs, technological advances unrestrained, ethics becoming burdens, following dictators twisting complex truths to simple lies, cultivating hatred and greed, succumbing to morbid pleasure welcoming man's self-made Armageddon, their children crying out doomed to suffer a dystopian future, but they are ignored. This song is true art, it comforts the disturbed and disturbs the comforted.
First, this song is way too amazing, the lyrics is spatial and the music video is so on point. The choir part make me fly to the moon and the voice of Floor is such so clear. So thanks, once again, for releasing such a masterpiece. Last note to mention, Floor that dress is omg amazing, I’m so in love. Congratulations guys❤
This song is the demonstration, even if there was no need, that you don't play, you don't sing, you don't act... you are the VIBRATION THAT CREATES LIFE. You are and will always remain in my soul. I send you lots of Light. Kisses from Italy 🇮🇹❤️. Post scrittum: Every time Floor open her mouth i cry😅 I Love this Mother Nature ❤

Would've loved a more operatic Floor but her voice, the symphony and rock mash, the music and lyrics!!!! So much to still love and enjoy!
I loved Perfume from the start. This song is starting to grow on me.

@doriantheelf8242 what a wild ride this band is taking us on, huh? I don't think this song will be in my top favorites but at least with the visuals I now understand it better and I think it's a beautiful piece. Here's to evolution and the wild ride
@@emmason8237 i generally find that so fascinating about NW - just look at their discography: EVERY TIME they're trying sthg new. No song, no album is like another. It always evolves and I believe that's what keeps NW alive, even after so many years.
@@lioness.moon.goddesss2402 I agree 100%! Over the years, through the albums and the highs and the lows and the even more epic highs - there's not a band in this world that I love more and am more proud of 🖤 also the way it connects all of us - just the kind of beautiful this world needs now more than ever
@@emmason8237 totally! I must say I also might have a bit of a more relaxed perspective on this as I've found NW just some years ago - I wasn't even born during Tarja era 😅 so I'm used to NW being divers, I have less expectations on how they "should" be, bc even if I don't like it, I still got those maaaanyyy other songs from them that I just love 😌
This is a brilliant way to highlight the path the world is going nowadays. I only hope the people who lead us in this direction listen closely to the song ... Once again Nightwish show us an incredible mixture of philosophy, feeling, rhythm and visionary thinking!
The legacy media colludes with liberal doomsday propaganda to garner control over the gullible sheep, case in point the covid pandemic.
Once again impressed with Tuomas' lyrics and even more so with Floor's ability to sing them, because boy do they make a complicated vocal line 🤣 Loved the song, my excitement for the album keeps growing!
@@hallvcinations especially when Floor was sick then pregnant, she is dedicated to their art and we would thank them, and especially her for that

Inspirational: YES, Artistic: YES, Cinematographyc: YES...All is there, and I will always listen to Nightwish, which I have since 2002. Although I appreciate it, this song won't be my favorite.
This video is a profound exploration of creativity and technique! The way each element is woven together is not only inspiring but also a testament to the skill and vision behind it. Thank you for sharing such a captivating piece with us.
What an amazing song! I love the music, the dramatic development, the instruments and the climax. The contrast between the increasing moods of lyrics and instruments, and the innocent seeming choir is stunning! The lyrics are very deep layered and remind me of personal things and the whole cultural and sociocultural development of the last years. I agree. Thank you to Nightwish and greetings to 1984!

Incredibly good evolution into heavy melodies, and a good stance on the chaos of existence within this century.

@@ricky49rob and there will always be enough new fans who think their alterations are done in the best way possible and actually love the new NW

This composition's structure really reminds me of Harvest. The same logic in the song and I like how there are still strong symphonic notes in the song.
He stole from himself the central riff of Harvest, that's kinda ridiculous for me
once gain, people, you don't disappoint, you never fail to put a smile on my face, with the music and fantastic musicianship/singing. Another masterpiece. The video is amazing too.
This sounds so unique, but also so classically Nighwish. Can't wait for the full album!
This was a really cool concept. The makeup on the band was really cool. I’ve said for years Nightwish is more than the music it’s an experience. Tuomas’s writing has been a major influence on me for 25 years.
Nightwish makes me proud of having Finnish blod🇫🇮
As someone who's been a Nightwish fan since 1999, I am so glad to see that the band evolves and still creates wonderful music that we all can enjoy.
Yes ...since 1998.
wonderful music??? shame on you
I agree and this ending is wonderful. Congratulations on remaining a loyal fan to this day, many fans throw cheap tantrums.

Wow What an amazing video ….have to rewatch this several times…so much to see and take in.
Great song, just like the perfume, cant hardly wait to hear the new album.
it's a confirmation it;s still the NIGHTWISH! cheers! B

That's the message. They're wise to the "empty sermon".
Love the mix, everything sounds so clear! Its different, but I love it. Great theme, great arranged song and an epic video! ❤
Love Floor! What a Great Singer!
Love NW - what a great band including female vocals. Metal Mozart makes it all possible.
LMAO. This is exactly the problem with Nightwish the last five years or so. Too many of you are just floor fan and not fans of the band, that’s why you don’t ride with them no matter what they do in the music.
You can read "HARMA" for a second. Love it.
PHARMA, DHARMA etc. y' all are so sticked to that stupid word play like y'all are a 5 yo child
As a music educator, I’d rather be able to watch the band perform. I always learn something new every time I watch. Love the new sound.
A very nice song. Love the choir part!
Just a big thank you from me to Nightwish, you bring joy and inspiration to my life. Helped me get through some dark times too! Thank you
AWESOME. Thank you so much NIGHTWISH! BRAVO!

The middle part reminds me of a similar section in Harvest, which I absolutely love!
Dear Nightwish, please don’t stop creating masterpieces. The world needs more of this.
I'll admit I've watched this when I'm high, and omg every sentence makes sense, the song is amazing, whole video speaks words. Wonderful tune. We are....? Let's exist. ❤️
Apparently lots of people are straight edge who commented lol,, but I'll try it and see if it improves.
What a superb song!! And little unusual song melody ❤
Beautiful song. I love the video and the message. We have to stop allowing ourselves to be cowed into submission by our unbridled fears.
Don't you like it, just listen to songs, you want to hear. Why people write all this shit in the coments. I miss times, when people wasn't so effusive and rude. It's someone's hard work, if you can't appreciate - go your own way and don't insult artists.
Да пусть хоть пердежи записывают эти "артисты", только не надо называться и порочить славное название группы что стояла у истоков.
@@antongalygin2269 Nightcringe is a good suggestion for the moniker.
It's great at the same time and a strong clip and a song, but also I was blown away by the flight of the whole band, I saw how they filmed it.

It’s absolutely fantastic!! So deep, scary, dystopian, dark! Blinded by fear! But also reminder to make the best of the time and not to live in fear all the time. Make a difference!
Nice interpretation... agreed
-
2nd watch, I am really digging this song, and I’m deeply disturbed by it.
