    Just wanted to say thanks for putting this video out, I had tried to reball a chip by hand and absolutely failed miserably ... I watched your video, tried again using your techniques, and was able to successfully reball the chip (XilinX Spartan3) on the first try. Excellent tutorial!

  • @XoFFoX777

    Just a quick follow up to my last comment ... the reason I had an oops moment was because the first reflow I attempted I used only about 200 C IR from below and maybe about 430C from above with hotair (no nozzle ) and the chip never even moved with gentle nudging and of course it still didn't fix the issue for reflowing gpu's. So I went hell bent for leather and did like around 250C IR below preheat and the full 480C without a nozzle for probably too much time and YEP ... the chip moved alright ... by accident ... so I had no choice but to pull it off and now I have a reball job but wondering if it's worth the time since all the power was good and still no display ... also the resistance on the gpu power rail was good as well so it LOOKED like the gpu was fine so it might still be ok even tho I more than likely stressed the hell out of it with too much heat.

      Might be late response, but most of the time you see people use ur temps but in the opposite way. Well never above 360 degrees Celsius.
      I use 290 on my preheater and 230 on my top heater . I use a ir6000 by achi.
      Slow ramping, u need of course figure out you own profile, but i never end process under 8 minutes

    Hello, I'm reballing a GTX 1060 6GB GPU by hand and I have 2 questions, since I managed to break 2 pads in the PCB. I used the Tester and noticed that these pads goes nowhere, I mean, they literally die after in the PCB and don't have any other contact.
    1.- Are all GPU pads necessary? or coul be that these pads are meant for Chip support only?
    2.- Do I need all the balls to be the same exact size?

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is easier for some people but you'd need a stencil for that. If you dont have a stencil it has to be done with manual placement:)

      @@TheCod3r Thanks! I thought that with enough flux the ball from the paste automaticly connecting the soldier point on the chip. When the soldier paste is heated. So without a stencil that still works in some cases. I would like to know why this is or is not recommended. This to get some insights.

    Hi
    I have a ps4 pro with some weird version of the blue light of death.
    For most people every time they press the power button the ps4 switches itself off or flashes blue forever but mine is different
    The first time I press the power button: there is a beep and a light but then there is what sounds like a small spark and it switches off.
    The second time: there is just a beep and no light
    The third time: nothing happens.
    And then it goes back to light with a beep, just a beep and then nothing. It’s like a cycle. Anyone have any suggestions??? I can update the comment with a video if you want

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi bud. That sounds like a power failure, either because of a bad power supply or some other power related issue on the board itself. The power supply is fairly simple to replace yourself but if you don't feel comfortable doing it you're more than welcome to get in touch and I can organise a repair for you

    • @keenobeast5920
      @keenobeast5920 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheCod3r I open up things all the time so that’s not a problem but I don’t want to order a new power supply if that’s not the issue. Could I send it to you and maybe you could diagnose the issue?

    The young lad who owns these gpu cards said that most of them were being used for crypto-mining so they were running 24/7 for ever, meaning ... so it's likely the gpu's got far too hot which is why they fail due to solder connections melting and failing. When they finally cool down if at all they go cold possibly. Just a thought ... even gamers can run their cards to bad temps and get the same results. I have heard of gamers who literally die sitting at their computers due to what ? Lack of sleep maybe ? or maybe starvation ? ... but more than likely LACK of INTELLIGENCE and self control/disipline ... maybe they should be taking up Aikido ?
