a bloody long ride.....54 miles from burnley to Leeds along the Leeds to Liverpool canal.

- after watching quality videos from @DanCyclesTheWorld(hope you don't mind me stealing some of your music choices) & @KeepSmilingAdventures & @JethroJessop it inspired me to go on a little mini adventure of my own.
this is the longest ride I have ever done & I'm pleased to of completed it as I got a great sense of accomplishment from it & surprisingly felt pretty good the next day.
I would just like to thank you for watching my vlog. Admittedly I’m no sam pilgrim who is one of the biggest mountain bike channels on TH-cam or matt jones who as well is one of the fastest growing mountain bike channels on TH-cam. Both of the mountain bike legends love to jump their mountain bikes or take them to such places like whistler Mountain bike park or bike park Wales. Matt jones has even built his own mountain bike park called the playground. Both are inspiring people & mountain bike riders. as are sam Reynolds, ollie Wilkins, ben deakin, Brendon fairclough, Bernard Kerr, josh brycland, gee Atherton & Rachel Atherton, Steve peat, Killion bron the list goes on.
I take my inspiration from the likes of BKXC, the singletrack sampler, berm peak, the loam ranger, Evans MTB saga, BCpov, who from what I have seen like to get out to beautiful places on there mountain bikes and document it on the way.
I can only do this in England at the moment but riding my mountain bike around some of the nicest parts of & Scotland & Wales is a goal that I would like to achieve at some point.

Great towpath riding, I've got a local 30mile circuit always my first run out after winter. Bit of the Manchester ship canal on to the Cauldon canal heading into consall valley and back home.
Cheers mate, I’ve done the canal ride from Manchester to hebden bridge a few times. It’s always a good way to get the blood pumping haha

I did the whole Leeds to Liverpool canal by bike in the 90's for Children in Need. Started in Leeds on the Friday evening, stopped at Crossflatts, then set off from there on Saturday to Accrington, the halfway point. Overnight stop there, then Sunday through to Liverpool. I was ready to throw my bike in the canal by the time we arrived in Liverpool. Cold November, with full panniers, having to go through fields around canal closures and knobheads just outside Liverpool shining lasers at us. At least we went the best way. Down hill all the way into Wigan was a welcome break. Would I do it again? Possibly not. I'm not as fit as I used to be. I'd certainly do it i warmer weather!

I go the other way, from Leeds it's a well used leisure facility for everybody, on the towpath, on the canal, everything is well cared for. Then from Colne it's like nobody cares about it, till maybe Chorley. Why is the Lancs side like that?
You’re not wrong there mate, it’s the same thing on the Manchester to brighouse canal. Soon as you come into Yorkshire it starts getting looked after. Thanks for watching 🤙🏻
It's the best way to get from Padiham to Burnley, no cars, no pollution, just fresh air and birdsong.

Yeah it is a lovely part of the country. They’re songs I got off epidemic sounds can’t remember the names at the moment, is there one in particular you like ? I’ll see if I can find the name of it

I love canal riding and iam getting longer distance every time..... I need a more sturdy bike though but with some degree of comfort..... Any suggestions?

The video was great and the commentary was so honest and real.... I live near Blackburn and have lots of access to the canal and would love to do a huge challenge like what you have done. I've got about £500 to spend on a good bike 👍
@@mrthomas394 cheers bud , it turned out well in the end. If I was you I would look into some entry level hard tails by specialized or orange or some of the other big brands just because the fork & drive chains will be a better quality & last longer than something that you can get at Halfords but you’d need to save a bit more money I’m afraid. Good bikes don’t come cheap. Or you could look for a decent second hand bike.
